Spot on analysis as ever Mike. Nothing to add except that I am really proud of the boys for rattling Penrith’s cage at Brookie and giving the fans their money’s worth. Go Manly 2024 and please, please, please can we have a season with just an average injury toll.

ANALYSIS: Madcap Manly embrace the chaos to give Panthers a scare - before Crichton leads them to victory

Surely that is season over for Manly with a likely smashing coming from Penrith next game. I’m cool with Manly’s standing this season and ready for Mad Monday. Horror injury toll, with Matt Lodge just the latest of our line bending forwards to get pole axed, not to mention Tom. No forwards, no space for our sometimes speccy, sometimes learning the trade attack and you just can’t expect DCE to superstar every game. There’s a good footy side in there (without Tom), it just doesn’t quite know what it is yet. Looking forward to Luke Brooks and our big boppers back fit and well. Go Manly (next year) and have some fun with what is left of the season. Got that off my chest without maligning a single Manly player whose name starts with J.

ANALYSIS: Brown sent off for horror high shot but backline fires Roosters to victory over Manly

Rugby Loig, love it. Gunna take that to the loin, before I score a troi. Bullemor and Lodge look like top picks so far and I am looking forward to Brooks ball running skills alongside DCE’s kicking, passing, ball running and massive footy brain.

Gross inconsistency: Jury still out on Seibold as mystery bet Sea Eagles somehow stay in finals race

Whatever ball you call it, I’m happy all day long watching Manly learning how to pull off speccy, mid to long range tries without Tom. Also really liking Koula for his defence as much as his attack.

ANALYSIS: Manly down Dragons to keep hopes alive in DCE's 300th as Carr blows up deluxe at Bunker

End of Manly’s season almost a relief for this fan. Now I can relax and just enjoy the footy. Hope the team makes the best of the days until Mad Monday. Learn to attack without Tom, stiffen defence another two notches and find ways to win when you are down two tries with fifteen minutes to go. Sort that lot out on a no Tom basis and next year could see a bottom of the eight finish. Add Tom and anything is possible.

ANALYSIS: Manly might be done - but don't count out the Cowboys after Brookie domination

Major improvement in ball discipline, Jake and Ben back, DCE on fire brings a narrow victory over a depleted Roosters side. Had to take extra heart meds in the final five minutes. Barring catastrophic injuries to key players, this side might just squeeze eighth while (hopefully) learning to play competitively without Tom.

ANALYSIS: Five-eighth or not, Schuster comes up with pivotal play as Sea Eagles fly home to claw past Roosters

Gutho, JWH, Foz (sob), Hiku, Des (sob), so much dumbness to celebrate.

Luke Brooks signs, Koula knocks back Wallabies and two others join as part of Manly signing spree

Glad to help with your insomnia NSW. Sweet dreams.

ANALYSIS: Parra move into top eight after Manly mauling - and King Gutho might be the most underrated player in the NRL

That was hilariously bad. Didn’t realise Weekes was on the field until he managed to get sin binned. King clown was Jason Saab, ably assisted by Josh Schuster, Paseka, Weekes and others. Defence wasn’t too bad given that all Parra had to do to get free sets was wait for Manly to cough up the ball or kick it to Saaby. Given Parra had two thirds possesion for eighty minutes they should have put 50 plus of Manly. We were always going to lose that game without Tom and DCE, but that was a distressing lack of ball discipline this deep into the season. Go (train harder) Manly.

I’m in happy shock like after the Raiders game. Brookie crowd really deserved that. This band plus Jake could go very deep post Origin. Go Manly.

ANALYSIS: Seibold's biggest statement yet as Manly raise 50 - but the Dolphins collapse is well and truly on

Tom G, you had me coughing up my cuppa at “plodding life support system for a headband.” Just get really frustrated watching Josh S. inconsistency such as in his brilliant first half versus diabolical second half in the recent Knights game. Totally agree on your summary of Josh A. and great to see Marty doing so well at the Broncos … as much as I loathe the side.

NRL Power Rankings: The Broncos make it a Big 3 at the top, green shoots at the Roosters and what are the Raiders even for?

Liked your comment about Manly and Knights being (wobbly) form clones, Mike. At this stage, without massive improvement from Manly, it’s a question of whether we finish 10th or anywhere down to 17th. Hardly inspiring for Sea Eagle fans. Still, with DCE in great form, Turbo maybe coming back into form, Jake’s calf mending and various maybes deciding against a career in clowning (looking at you Josh) great things could happen in the back half of the season.

All the NSW and Manly nightmares came to pass. Lost the game, Turbo injured. Bye bye series, bye bye Freddie. Well played Maroons and DCE. There’s always next year. Yawn.

Battered Maroons pull off stunning comeback on 'really poor' Blues to put Fittler's future in jeopardy

Excellent round up Mike. Schuster looked like Origin material in the first half and Billy Bunter in the second half. Congrats to Lachlan Croker for captain’s effort and being the adult in the room. Also thought the forward pack put in a decent effort minus Jake. I had the Knights beating us by 20 or more, so result not so bad for mine.

ANALYSIS: Bradman back to best as Manly's attack disappears - and Ponga has to stay at fullback

In happy shock. Was expecting that scoreline other way around.

ANALYSIS: Turbo powers back to being automatic Blues selection with hat-trick as Manly dismantle Green Machine

Thoughtful article, Mary. Well said. Domestic violence is not part of the NRL soap opera, like say, a couple of nineteen year olds barfing over each other in a public bar after too many victory shots.

Paul Kent's domestic violence charges are far more serious than just a 'rugby league soap opera'

Couldn’t agree more EJ. Half the side playing like they would rather be hitting the pokies at Blacktown Workers instead of (at least) entertaining a home crowd is all on the coach. Oppo teams should dread coming to Brookie. These days a trip to the beaches is a certain two points and a chance to experiment combos with a bunch of tackle dummies. Jake’s absence is telling. I dare say we would have squeaked home with Jurbo both smacking oppo rib cages and motivating our slack arses.

ANALYSIS: Turbo-less Tommy in danger of losing Blues berth after getting burnt again as Sharks sink Manly

Weird game. Pathetic first half, bar DCE and a second half with signs there’s actually an NRL standard footy side in there somewhere. Hopefully we can finish the season somewhere around 14th and avoid our first spoon.

ANALYSIS: Turbo-less Tommy in danger of losing Blues berth after getting burnt again as Sharks sink Manly

Hurts so bad. Keiran played his heart out for the Titans while barely being able to walk.

ANALYSIS: Titans put Dolphins disaster behind them, but Manly remember what happens when Turbo doesn't play

I have nothing to say about that load of rubbish from Manly, other than that I have nothing to say.

ANALYSIS: Turbo limps out with groin issue, but Tigers somehow snatch defeat from the jaws of victory again

Very gracious summation Joe. If Manly hasn’t welded up its defence then game will look a lot like the piss poor Penrith game. If it has, then we could get a very entertaining Brookvale Battle Royale, which could go either way, maybe down to golden point.

Manly's matador defence puts them on edge as Seibold tells Turbo to get back up to speed for Storm showdown

Aaah 40-nil, a scoreline forever stuck in the Storm subconscious.

Manly's matador defence puts them on edge as Seibold tells Turbo to get back up to speed for Storm showdown

Excellent analysis Mike of the worst half of Manly footy I have ever seen.
As you say, crisp, rapid, disciplined and ruthless execution from Penrith tore Manly to shreds, over and over again.
Seibold wanted a test of the team against quality opposition and Penrith gave it to him, in spades.
32 zip at half time is your test result, Seibs.
How Seibold and the team learn and recover from that drubbing could set Manly up for a halfway decent season and save Seibold from yet another unhappy exit.
I see many happy hours of defensive drills in Manly’s immediate future.

ANALYSIS: If this is the 2023 Panthers, then everyone else should be very worried indeed

Good analysis. I don’t know why Harper was selected over Weekes as a starter and also don’t know how you play two golden pointers and then keep Penrith to anything less than a cricket score. I can fantasize that the Penrith game will be good early physical preparation for going deep into the finals. Yeah, that’s it, especially since we play the Storm in round 7.

ANALYSIS: Young scores four as Manly and Newcastle fight to epic draw - just don't talk about the tackling

Great analysis TB. What I have noticed is that Schuster appears to be doing more snap glances (with little head movement) at his support runners while running straight at the line. I reckon there’s more positional data being fed into those so-called “no lookers” than last year.

ANALYSIS: Schuster and Turbo fire Manly's attack as defence gets overhaul but not all doom and gloom for Eels
