Mate, the mighty Falcons, formerly the Cardinals. I used to watch them at Leederville in the late 1970’s and early 1980’s , was always a good afternoons entertainment.

Brian Adamson moved to Norwood in 1978 from West Perth and set a legal precedent when WPFC tried to stop him, he took them to court in a historic case and won. That case is the precedent that would be used if ever a player wanted to challenge the draft, ”restraint of trade” being the key ruling to come out of it. 😉

Why Teague must be appointed Carlton coach

His dad was a great player by the way.. he could have made it in the VFL… I used to see him playing at Leederville oval for West Perth.

Why Teague must be appointed Carlton coach

I remember seeing his first game and thinking he had potential as a leggie if he could just deliver a flater trajectory… irony is that part still might be correct but crikey the guy can bat.

The Chappels, Border, Hughes, Hookes, Ponting, the Waughs… Smith is making them all look like club cricketers.

Long may it continue 😉

Steve Smith: A statistical batting gem

Dude, even in all their premiership seasons they’ve dropped a game or two in Perth.. the key stat for the Eagles is wins on the road. They’ve only been beaten by Port, Brisbane and Geelong, 2 of the top 3 sides and another enigmatic one who can go from chocolates to boiled lollies in a week.

Five talking points from AFL Round 20

You are right, the analogy about the Crimea was ridiculous…and there’s no need to thank me.

No excuse to boo Goodes

” before you call that a stupid analogy..”

You are 100% correct, technically its called a straw man argument… take one mans argument, and twist it to represent something completely different to what was actually said.

See, I didnt say it was a stupid analogy..

No excuse to boo Goodes

That was actually pretty funny, Pythonesque if you will.

” its just a flesh wound….”

Five talking points from AFL Round 20

I think Scott probably has run them hard on the track to get them cherry ripe for Sept… its an old trick Neil Craige used to use..worked in 97 & 98 and if not for injuries probably would have worked in 05-06.

So lets see… Cats coping plenty of flak today but the articles come October could very well read ”The Genius of Chris Scott”

Five talking points from AFL Round 20

Melbourne still have a good performance in them methinks… they really put it to the Eagles a few weeks ago… they could pull of an upset even at this late stage.

Pies will model a new forward line..that takes time to develop..could be a very low scoring match, which means the Dees wouldnt have to kick many to be right in it. 😉

My AFL September predictions

Eagles would be better off not picking Naitanui unfortunately.

The guy cant get match fit in time…the lose an extra runner with him in the side and as we saw against the Pies, the opposition will eventually overrun you..

Great player, great bloke, keep him as a backup option sure… but seriously, let him prepare for next year, get a full pre season in and go again in 2020.

I cant imagine them dropping Oscar Allan… the kid is their ”get out of jail free” card… he can cover all the key positions forward or back and pinch hit in the ruck. For anyone wanting to know why they didnt pick Tim Kelly when they had the chance ,, hes the answer.!!

My AFL September predictions

The Lions are just about everybody’s second team… so if they do make it they will have plenty of support..especially if its against another non Melbourne based team .

Why the Brisbane Lions will win the flag

Eagles did lose a final to Collingwood in 2007 and the Dogs infamously in 2016 but yes, apart from that I cant think of a final they have lost over in Perth.

As for the Gold Coast… well they are not as bad as the university side that got booted out of the VFL 100 years ago… but thats about the only good thing we can say about them at the moment.

They are a gimmie 4 points and a percentage boost at the moment which is not fair on the sides who dont get to play them twice… Brisbane and Adelaide can consider themselves lucky they get the GC percentage boost game twice this year.

Five talking points from AFL Round 20

Injuries are a fact of life and to be honest I think most of the time they are just bad luck.

It only takes a little bit of pressure on the side of your knee to do a anterior cruciate ligament.. I know big fit guys who did it playing touch football or when their dog ran into them at the beach..

Nicnat hardly missed a game in his first few years and now hes had a bunch of injuries all one after the other……conversely Shuey missed a lot of football early in his career and now seems to be injury free.

I genuinely think it comes down to plain bad luck.

Collingwood's injury crisis has reached breaking point

Difference in severity you say? I put it to you you have never seen the after affects of someone who has been tortured.

Most people only survive long enough to make a confession… and by the end the victims are begging to be put out of their misery.

Implying being booed on a football field is any way comparable to that is frankly embarrassing.

No excuse to boo Goodes

No one begrudges him that, good for him.

But just because he is good at kicking a ball doesnt mean you have to like him.

and the fact that I dont like him doesnt mean I am a racist a hater or a loser…. Ive shaken hands with Jalal Talabani in my line of work, how many Presidents have you shaken hands with??

Theres plenty of people I dont like, and nearly all of them are white. I dont make excuses for people based on their colour, if you’re a flog, you’re a flog.

No excuse to boo Goodes

Exactly, nothing like humiliating a 13 year old girl in front of 40,000 people to show how much you care about her welfare.

Pfft.

No excuse to boo Goodes

They could have waited 4 more weeks and had the best of both worlds…

If they get flogged in the final 4 games and continues into next year this will be the worst decision in footy history.

Convesely, if they win the next 4 they can sign him up without anyone questioning the decision.

Like I said, they chose the worst possible option re the timing.

Not saying he cant coach, or wont be a good coach, or isnt a good coach… but what was the rush??

Did they think the Crows or Fockers were going to steal him from under their noses??

Rhyce Shaw to be appointed full-time coach at North Melbourne

Why do we need an excuse?? The guy is a flog.

Seriously, maybe he should visit one of these Iraqi villages where all the men women and children have been butchered by ISIS to put his life in perspective…. ditto all you new age people on this ”moral crusade” to save us from ourselves.

If the worst thing that ever happened to you was that you got ”booed” on a footy field then you had it pretty good.

He got paid hundreds of thousands of dollars of year TO PLAY A GAME.

He aint Nelson Mandella, the Dalai Lama or some person who got burned at the stake for their beliefs.

He chases a damn ball!!

No excuse to boo Goodes

Crikey is that an actual quote of Don? I cant understand word of it.

Where has it all gone wrong for the Adelaide Crows?

Carlton have been playing on raw emotion for a while now… they havent come across a top team as yet so Saturday will be a new challenge for them.

I think everyone in the league is aware of how the Blues are going so I cant see the Eagles taking them lightly….

The blue print to beat Carlton is pretty clear and Im sure Simmo is aware of it. Will be a hard fought game but I suspect the Eagles have too much firepower up forward.

Waterman is in and out of the side and he is kicking cricket scores in the WAFL, if a guy like him cant get a game its a pretty good side. Premiership player Cole is back in the twos, Schofield every week is never a certainty, Hutch might find it hard to return if Jackson Nelson continues on his merry way. Its not often 3 premiership players struggle to get a game only one season later.

AFL Power Rankings 2019: Round 19

He is a gun Schofield… he can play on the tall or the small so hes very versatile…along with Sheppard he rarely gets beaten one on one.

AFL Power Rankings 2019: Round 19

Its only unfair if the interstate fans aren’t given a fair chance at buying tickets.

If Eagles , Lions etc make the GF they should be given the same allocation as Richmond or Geelong… give them 3 days to sell their allotment, if they cant do it then they go back to the AFL and they can sell them how they see fit.

If 40,000 screaming Eagles fans can get to the game no one will complain… and thats how many will be coming this year if they make it again 😉

Five talking points from AFL Round 19

3 Goals up at 3/4…. ran out of legs due to Nic going down…

Darling should have received a 50 metre penalty with 90 seconds to go… if he does.. we go 5 points up with about a minute to go. But he didnt, they win and life goes on.

I love to mock the Pies as as much as anyone but fair is fair…they have been desperately unlucky with injuries of late. If they are anywhere near full strength come Sept they are going to be a fly in the ointment for somebody.

Five talking points from AFL Round 19

All of the Above 😉

Except for the ”close” bit .

Five talking points from AFL Round 19

They have a bit of a problem now…. they have adjusted to No Naitanui, Hickey has turned out to be one of their top players and Oscar Allen is more than a solid contributor… The side looks to have a perfect balance right now, if Nic comes back Im worried they will be too top heavy and run out of legs, like they did against the Pies.

Unless they have some season ending injuries to the Magnificent Seven Barras, McGovern, Darling , Kennedy Shuey Yeo and Hickey they are going to be very hard to beat from here on in.

It’ll be the Great Eight when Jamie Cripps comes back…Heck, lets make it the Fine Nine because you could throw in Dom Sheed who is having the best season of his career…..

… and I just realized I hadnt included All Australian Winger Gaff!! So lets make it the Terrific Ten…

If the Terrific Ten are fit come finals time Eagles are going back to back.
