Dropped catches lose matches. Any runs scored are a bonus

Why Jimmy Peirson should be Australia's Test wicketkeeper

For the test team it should be the best keeper full stop

Forget the negatives, Australian cricket is in a great place ahead of the Ashes

This is clearly a pretty passionate subject for you Rowds. Interesting reading. A lot of this is the basis of leadership eg know your strengths and weaknesses, know your charges etc. Looking forward to seeing how young Patrick goes with it all

Forget the negatives, Australian cricket is in a great place ahead of the Ashes

Richie Benaud often used to talk in commentary about the difference between bowling captains and batting captains. The main point I recall him making was the difference between trying to stem runs vs trying to get the batsmen out by executing a plan. Nothing says tactical incompetence to me like the captain moving a fielder to where the ball was just hit, something that has been all too common of late

You wonder how many heroes of bygone eras would stand up to social media scrutiny of every error, every comment, every little action. Who doesnt have a few skeletons in the closet? Everyone makes mistakes and this just seems like a really awful way to end a career that rose again from the embers after injury almost killed it off. You wonder how many ways it could have been handled better, especially when you consider those who seem to roll with these punches eg Trump, Warnie. Anyway seems done and dusted now. Poor Tim Paine

The AB 15 would also be on a red these days for the high tackle with contact to the head. Two reds in one play and a try

Is this before or after WR release their apology for the horrendous refereeing in Cardiff?

From the clip above it looks like Valetini saw the impact coming, realised his head was in the wrong position and actively tried to dodge. Personally I don’t think accidental head impact should be a red card, how can you punish something unintentional? Nevertheless I understand the idea that this type of punishment encourages all tacklers to lower the height to rib cage or below

What about mitigation for the afro? The definition of softening the blow?

Classic 😂 😂

I miss his slow plodding walk off the field after being given out – usually after it was proven beyond doubt by DRS confirming an obvious on field decision

Whoever they choose should be screened with a series of social media challenges showing they have the capacity to suppress mankind’s natural evolutionary instinct to send photographs of one’s nether regions. For this reason I will not be putting myself forward as a candidate

Australia needs a captain who's handsome (but not too handsome): Step forward, Watto

Dont recall Slipper doing or saying much as captain. He just seemed to register general dissatisfaction which is fair enough. I would actually think that having Hooper on the field might have tempered the ref somewhat. The ref defnitely seemed under pressure and a bit out of his depth. Having to answer to someone with a reputation like Hooper might have pulled him back a bit as compared with a bloke on his first dig as captain. Maybe, maybe not, who knows. I certainly don’t think that Slipper’s ‘style’ helped anything come our way (can’t recall that anything did come our way). The tenet of this question just seems to be general anti Hooper sentiment ie standard roar fare

Why it's not all doom and gloom for the Wallabies

What exactly did slipper do to manage the ref whilst we copped the worst refereeing of the year?

Jumping for a catch has become a red and yellow Russian roulette

Good question quaggy. I don’t think we should dismiss the AB style of play after a few losses. It’s worked for a long time

What did you make of the aerial contest over the weekend? Kellaway getting pinged for over-running the ball, Kolisi copping a yc for catching the opposition player, Etzebeth getting penalised when going for the ball

Should players risk jumping at all? Seems like world rugby is trying to stamp out the contest in the air

I couldn’t believe the English commentator labeling Eddie Jones a tactical genius after delivering a last minute 1 point win. Very even match could of gone either way

YC against Kolisi was rough, he was going for the ball. Refs stamping out contest in the air

Accidental head knock – red card. Swinging arm to the head of a downed opponent – yellow. Makes perfect sense

MATCH REPORT: 'Horrendous'! Rennie anger as 14-man Wallabies beaten at the death

The poor little ref was way above his pay grade. He made a terrible call and then obstinately forced it on the game in the face of the evidence

ANALYSIS: Give the ref a propeller hat, thank Kurtley for the memories and fix this blight on the game

Well they had Wayne Barnes. And they got towelled up. Their one yc was pretty straight forward. The wallabies on the other hand had amateur hour and still only lost by one point
