Apparently he cant even advise them on their lengths

Australia can take some lessons from England’s Ashes campaign

Jeff you seem remarkably well informed re the situation in pakistan

Australia can take some lessons from England’s Ashes campaign

Seems like Root doesn’t have the support of the dressing room. Must be very hard to captain and for any team members to perform. Saying that I agree that even with full backing that English team was never going to be a better side than our lads. Might have been a bit closer tho

Not sure I’d be busting to go on a work trip there given the risks. Much worse for a high profile team

Gotta feel for poor Neser. Toils away in the shield for seasons. Carries the drinks for 2 yrs. Finally gets his shot and does well. Immediately dropped for MCG specialist who performs at a frankly unbelievable level. Now back to the shield

Combined Ashes team of the series: Who makes the cut?

Agree KPO Green must be in. Harris pips Crawley for me. Smith and Root is a coin toss

Combined Ashes team of the series: Who makes the cut?

I also like the look of him. I liked the look of him last time they trialed him

Unfortunately having ‘the look’ isn’t enough, you need the numbers

Current test avg 28 in 32 innings. FC avg 31 in 118 innings

Crawley is England's opening solution

The ground and atmosphere in Hobart looked great. Hope they get more tests in the future but agree that pink ball is not a wise idea down there. Red ball day games are just fine for that wicket

'Hard to get a wicket right': Cummins backs red ball cricket over pink as ultimate form of Tests

Sure we bowled better and our guys are better but their bowling was ok. Clearly their best domain. Broad bowled very well when selected. Anderson was also good. Robinson bowled well and had been their leading wicket taker leading into the game but obviously he has fitness concerns

UK View: 'He must resign' - Root wants to carry on but knives are out after 'ghastly', 'pathetic' surrender

Don’t you love it? I do

UK View: 'He must resign' - Root wants to carry on but knives are out after 'ghastly', 'pathetic' surrender

Don’t think it would have made much difference DJ, same with the criticism of Root. These guys just cannot bat and they fielded poorly. Their bowling was pretty good all tour. Selection debate is just shuffling the deck chairs and honestly nobody could captain them to victory. Root is by no means a good captain but there’s nobody to replace him

Re Crawley, he has been tried and discarded in the past. Ditto Sibley, ditto Lawrence, Pope etc. Hopefully they all feel better after a Caribbean tour

Their focus on short form cricket has paid off at the expense of test cricket

Btw I bloody love reading their press tearing into them. Glorious

UK View: 'He must resign' - Root wants to carry on but knives are out after 'ghastly', 'pathetic' surrender

That prettymuch sums it up for me dtm. That and shull giving him the number one test batsmen gong over Smith and Williamson because he’s the Russian judge who prioritizes good technique

'Absolute clarity in my heart': Kohli statement reveals reasons for surprise resignation

It is pretty unhelpful isn’t it

FLEM'S VERDICT: Here's how you can shake the nightwatchman job forever, Scotty

Don’t think Carey is to blame for the slips. Warner, Smith and Khawaja are three of the most experienced players on the field. The keeper may be implicated for how deep they are but these guys should know by now

FLEM'S VERDICT: Here's how you can shake the nightwatchman job forever, Scotty

And now two episodes, one in Adelaide and one here, where he goes off with ‘injury’ only to come back and bowl again injury free. Prime gammon

What I meant to say – but didn’t explain at all was – ticket holders reticent to attend due to fear of catching covid

DAY 2 REPORT: Wickets tumble as Cummins puts Australia on top of England

Pandemic related? It was sold out

In any case the crowd looked great and the atmosphere was tremendous. Great to see a natural looking intimate ground rather than another dull concrete ring

DAY 2 REPORT: Wickets tumble as Cummins puts Australia on top of England

Tremendous achievement from the young SA side. When you run your eye down the batting averages of the SA order it doesn’t look possible that they could beat the might of India. Great effort

Proteas clinch series as India fail to make history

Smith takes the catch and starc is a hero. Why is Starc always the scapegoat?

The Pat Cummins declaration: Would Mark Taylor have declared earlier?

I think Michael Clarke was our best tactical captain (despite being a questionable bloke/leader of men). He oversaw a worse team and was single handedly carrying the batting for some time but he always pursued a plan and was quite aggressive

The Pat Cummins declaration: Would Mark Taylor have declared earlier?

What a bunch of petulant children. Gentleman’s game? Respect for the umpire?

Hope they are heavily punished and miss games. Cricket doesn’t need this and these little cry babies are not bigger than the game

WATCH: 'F---ing joke!' Kohli, India go troppo at SA host broadcaster, hint at ball-tampering

This works well in the Australian summer but there is a dew issue in the uk early in the morning

Eleven ways to speed up Test cricket - time to cut out the wasted hours

Agree prez. If the umpires enforced this it would solve a lot of the problems

Pink ball game in Hobart? Don’t think slow overs will be an issue with a 2 1/2 day game

Who should get the nod for Australia in the final Ashes Test?

For the love of nectar…
