A further thought on one of our best players in a different position – not original but not often heard of: Pocock to be trained to be a hooker. He could be the Wallaby equivalent of Bissie who must be the best hooker in the business today.

Wallabies and All Blacks reap the benefits of 80-minute rugby

Point 6: “…who denied the All Blacks a legitimate try. Ok, dynamic Dagg’s offload to Jimmy Cowan was arguably forward.”

Arguably my ass! This was one of at least 2 other crucial and blatant forward passes by the ABs that Clancy missed. Whilst the TMO was out of his jurisdiction maybe he felt as frustrated as I did by Clancy. And what about the linesman – right in front of his eyes and he did nothing!

The TMO is there to assist with difficult try decisions. Maybe his powers need to be expanded but by how much? As someone has already written how far back in a movement or phases does he go?

Seven home truths for the All Blacks

No mate – if he were an ABs coach he would stay on. Just like Graham Henry who stayed on after the RWC 2007 fiasco when the ABs couldn’t get past the quarter finals. We were all gob-smacked that he stayed in the role because traditionally a losing AB coach steps down BEFORE they are pushed. Henry has tarnished a proud tradition.

I predict that the ABs will not win the RWC 2011, and maybe never will in my lifetime. They are serial chokers.

Is the writing on the wall for Robbie Deans?

Nathan – there is no way that “at full strength the Wallabies on paper have a very competitive side”. The forwards are where the Wallabies are weak. The Boks’ second pick pack will drill our pack! And now there are question marks with some of the backs like Gits and Mitchell. The problem for Deans is that there is little choose from which makes for less competition amongst the players – again see the Boks.

With respect to Deans “not connecting” with the players, the ARU has been far too lenient on the prima donnas (Gregan is a prime example when he was playing). This coupled with the thin pickings make Deans’ life very hard. An example of one or two senior players/prima donnas must be made soon if we are to make it thru to the knockout stage of RWC 2011.

So here is a test for you if you saw the Crusaders/Bulls game last week. Roussouw and van der Heever get yellow carded for dangerous tackles (above the shoulder and spear respectively) plus the Bulls can’t select van der Heever for the next 2 games. When Franks and McCaw do precisely the same they only get penalties against them, no sin bin. Please explain.

Super 14 refs need to be held accountable

Fair comment but the Super 14/Tri Nations refs are the cream of the crop and therefore we are less forgiving when they make fundamental errors like being inconsistent. There is not excuse for that. They also have the touchies who assist and maybe there is a way for them to be more effective without taking too much away from the ref or the flow of the game.

Brace yourself Willy – could be a night of disappointment for ‘Tahs supporters (and I am one of them). I am less sanguine than you and am tipping a ‘Canes win.

Super 14 preview for round 14 matches

Consistency – this is a crucial attribute for any referee. Jonker was particularly guilty of this last weel (Crusaders/Bulls). He yellow carded Roussouw and van der Heever (who also got a 2 match ban) for dangerous tackles, but only awarded penalties against Franks and McCaw fro precisely the same infringements. Why not deal with all four offenders in the same way?
