While that last call was interesting to say the least it wasn’t surprising. Raynal was poor all game. Both teams will have plenty of complaints about the way he handled the game. Calling tackle & then ruling a maul, the multiple no release non calls, Jordan getting rewarded when his hands were clearly on the ground past the ball.
No YC on a clear lift past the horizontal.
Not his best game by a long long way.

REACTION: 'Disgraceful!': Wallabies stunned as ref 'cracks under pressure,' hands Bledisloe Cup to All Blacks

Law 7c Applies. A player must not do anything that may lead the match officials to consider that an opponent has committed an infringement.

'Not guilty': Why Jordie Barrett was cleared for Koroibete face kick

What strikes me with turnover ball is what the AB’s do immediately with it. The ball is moved quickly away from the congestion at the turnover. They don’t care who they pass it to as long as that player has a little more time to sum up the options.
The AB’s seem to trust every player to be skilled enough & aware enough to know if it’s on to go wider or to set up a phase to go from.
How often do we see the wallabies win a turnover & then just truck it up into contact again.

Wallabies need an urgent injection of composure ahead of Springboks and Pumas

Well said Harry have a look at the video. In the background Retallick is head down sprinting to get there in support. It’s players like that that allow a 1/2 chance off a turnover to be converted into points.

I thought both were below average. Koribete does not look to have much idea on defence & Swinton, who was bought into add some starch to the back row was anonymous.
Are you being selective by ignoring the 2 turn overs That Banks conceded or the 50% tackle success rate (albeit from a mere 2 attempts).
Or by ignoring Kellaway & Koribete being in support of Banks or him kicking the ball dead from a penalty at a vital time?
Like I said if that’s a satisfactory performance from a fullback in your opinion then hopefully he keeps getting selected.

If that’s the standard you are looking for from the Wallaby fullback then please enjoy the mediocrity he has put out so far.

He definitely crawled Piru. Initially I thought he was fine. There was one angle though that showed at least 3 dynamic movements.

The Wrap: Rinse and repeat as sharply focused All Blacks sweep the Wallabies

Thought Banks had a shocker. On his breakout he did nothing to try & position his support & seemed to lack awareness that Ioane was running him down. He was constantly ‘bullied’ by defenders & failed to get gainline making his support runners & ruck cleaners jobs nearly impossible.

Watched a scoring highlights package last night & One thing stood out for me. On both Havillis & Bridges long range tries in the background you can see Retallick putting his head down & busting a gut to get there in support.
That guys motor must be incredible.

The Wrap: Rinse and repeat as sharply focused All Blacks sweep the Wallabies

His leadership & organisation when down to 14 was pretty special I thought. I think he knew where the wallabies were vulnerable & get it into the wider channels rather than run himself so wasn’t a ‘flashy’ game by him.

The Wrap: Rinse and repeat as sharply focused All Blacks sweep the Wallabies

The ball used in Australia is different to the Adidas ball used in NZ. The kickers have had time to adjust though I would have thought though.

I was thinking the ref just wasn’t interested resetting the scrums. On the positive he was consistent but seemed to be tossing a coin to see which way the arm would go.

The Wrap: Rinse and repeat as sharply focused All Blacks sweep the Wallabies

Akira made 10 of 11 tackles & was in the top 3 tacklers for the AB’s I believe.

Pretty much once he had committed he should have done ‘something’ rather than nothing.
Something I have noticed on that play is the lack of a defensive organiser at the back of the ruck.
It’s something that AB’s value & a reason Perenara is often used as the finisher at 9. He is very good at letting the forwards know when to commit & when not to.

Why the Wallabies are still looking for fool’s gold

Agree Peter. Semi is a much better 12 than 13 on defence. The whole ‘he can’t read in defence’ is outdated given his play at 12

Why the Wallabies are still looking for fool’s gold

He does have quite the windup.

Breaking down all of the Wallabies changes for Bledisloe 4

I’m not sure if kicking the ball to the AB’s all day is a great strategy. Ioane, Reece & the Barrett’s are not the players I would want to see with the ball too often. For the Wallabies sake I hope the ‘tackle’ part of the strategy is on song.

Difference being that Donald played 10. Hodge doesn’t.

Don’t believe he was concussed. Looking at his reaction & the way he was treated think he tweaked his neck.

Four Bledisloe 4 debutants for New Zealand as Foster makes mass changes

Hope the defensive line is organised & strong if they are going to play a long kicking game. The AB back 3 + B Barrett are lethal on the kick return. Jordie also has a cannon for boot if it turns into a kicking duel.

Reece Hodge at 10 as Dave Rennie makes huge changes to Wallabies team for Bledisloe 4

These 23 guys from each nation are considered the best available for selection right now. The AB’s are managing workload with a few changes they have made & rewarding effort in training with selection. The days of playing the same 15 each & every test are long gone.
The Wallabies have had to make changes given the last 2 results. I can only imagine the comments if Rennie went with an unchanged team.
I don’t see how these teams are devaluing test rugby.

The AB’s would have run ALB, Clarke & Goodhue at him from the get go. Not a fan of dropping the 10 out of the line but can see why Rennie did it last week.

Massive difference between coming in in garbage time then being asked to control a test match from the start though.

Got to remember that TJP & BB have played a lot of rugby together. Their combination is a strength I think.

A prop with a wet ball with a 9 in front of him. Tuck it & run wasn’t a bad decision. Bet he is very very glad me scored though!
