Red-mayne: Socceroo sent off as Sydney FC fall to table-topping Macarthur
You cant know that..theres no ball tracking and anyone drawing such a line is merely speculating… I found one tik tok video which shows exactly what the replay in para shows – a ball going in the general direction of the goal shot from an angle above and to the left of the incident. It could be going high, could be missing the goal to the right even.
You are seeing what you choose to see. Ive watched many cricket decisions recently which on prima facie viewing show the ball hitting the wicket..usually it isnt.ps and I remember very recently an offside decision for Sydney which wasnt given. On the first tv replay the player looked clearly offside, when the lines were drawn he was clearly onside.
ps time for 10 Bold!

you could get tickets delivered to your phone too!

Unfortunately I agree with everything 😔 – the crosses were either too close to the keeper or too far from the attackers. On one occasion blind freddy could see Lolley was going to cross but Gomes made no attempt to get in front of his player.
Wouldve been nice to see Wood playing in that front four but the red stopped that AND Gomes shouldve been the one replaced…Wood gives more ground coverage which was what you need with 10 players.

Theres is a box office at Allianz which is open before the games.. you could order and pick up there too.
“Location – The Game Box Office is located in the forecourt of the main entry to the Stadium off Driver Ave. Alternative box offices are located on the Western (Driver Avenue) and Eastern (Moore Park Rd) sides.”
“Box Office Opens: 6:15pm
Fans are encouraged to purchase their tickets online ahead of the clash here, however tickets will be available to purchase from the Box Office from 6:15pm.”
BUT tickets include public transport for normal games – not sure re the Unite Rd !

“It clearly was a DOGSO, it’s now a matter of record.”
Actually thats not true – officially recognised doesnt make it legally correct.
“And the VAR didn’t make the decision, the referee viewed it on the monitor, took his time, and decided it was a DOGSO.” where did I say otherwise..I said the ref made the decision BUT it was virtually mandated by the VAR.
“Everything else is now just differing opinion.” this is true but I would hope the Review Panel wipes the red card.
“But it’s exactly this type of post game whining that brought us VAR in the first place” now this is silly .. ALL sports have differing opinions re things and thats normal. VAR was designed to reduce – not stop – howlers. This was NOT a howler.
“… if the sport had a modicum of sportsmanship, an acceptance of the referees opinion as being final, and a focus on what can be changed (Redmayne’s stupidity) then we might live in a VAR free world.”
I totally agree that ON the field the refs decison is final and eventually the players moved on. The constant debate and arguing of decisions eg Leckie when he claimed it hit his chin and chest for instance, is wrong and sb carded. OFF the field the fans have every right to discuss what happens.
Im internally debating why Reds came so far. The modern Goalie plays as a high sweeper. He was already far out and on reflection he had players nearby so shouldve retreated. But hindsight is a wonderful thing and in the heat of the battle we are all human.

I stil like Grant but he doesnt really play RB anymore.

Followed by some sad news..and I dont get it!! I wouldve been happy to see him playing for us “Macarthur FC have announced the signature of full-back Kealey Adamson after his release from Sydney FC this morning.”

Another VAR Principle
“3. The original decision given by the referee will not be changed unless the video review clearly shows that the decision was a ‘clear and obvious error’.”
Red-mayne: Socceroo sent off as Sydney FC fall to table-topping Macarthur
Poor VAR mandated decision and the the ref wasnt strong enough to stand his ground.ps it also wasnt a DOGSO – the second word is OBVIOUS..it was certainly not obvious as first Millers attenpt was going away from goal and second there was cover.
‘VAR Principles
The use of VARs in football matches is based on a number of principles, all of which must apply in every match using VARs.
1. A video assistant referee (VAR) is a match official, with independent access to match footage, who may assist the referee only in the event of a ‘clear and obvious error’ or ‘serious missed incident’ in relation to:”
Thats was not a ‘serious missed incident’ ..the ref saw it and made a decision on it.”Also NOT ‘clear and obvious error’..
Further I dont think it was even a handball under the rules.
“‘A player is considered to have made their body unnaturally bigger when the position of their hand/arm is not a consequence of, or justifiable by, the player’s body movement for that specific situation.”
Redmaynes movenent was justifiable and in real time he did NOT attempt to make his body bigger. yeh sure he atempted to block the ball but thats diffferent.

yep on first glance it looked a clear red but Good was both the last defender and going to cover.
Perth was unexpectedly poor and I dont get some of the Stajic decisions. Colli was having a poor game and Id have dragged him but he replaced his best player Khelif instead. Kout. was a poor defensive rb but an excellent attacking lb. Plus I though Colakovski was one of their better players (like last week) yet he was replaced too.

lol..where was the abuse? I guess comprehension wasnt something you learnt in your supposed sporting career…
The FTA ratings arent good but have been that way for a while and we survive. Additionally the para plus ratings are known to only a select few and you’re not one of them.
The football is mainly of a good quality and often better – eg Fallandrolly’s recent goal and McGee’s past goal – and we are making young players more and more who are picked up at a good level overseas.
The 2 new clubs are struggling crowd wise, as is City, but they seem ok financially. Plus Macarthur is a top side & WU may yet produce its own stadium. Oh and WU is a good side without luck atm. One of the bonuses of the ALM this year is the average standard is higher with maybe only the Jets yet to measure up.
Oh and the ave attendance was badly affected by weather last weekend so I’d wait and see how things pan out. The united rd seems popular and is being well advertised but may inadvertently hurt ave crowds.
The A-League could learn a little from rugby league – but not in the way you think
good riddance..you are nothing but a negative poster who I suspect is really a follower of other sports who gets his/her jollies by pretending to be what you clearly are not… a lover of sport and in particular soccer.

to tone things down a little re Michigan “The Big House had an an average attendance of 109,971 fans, while the total home attendance for the 2023 season was a whopping 769,797 fans. To this date, Michigan Stadium still holds the record for the largest crowd to attend a football game on campus, drawing in 115,109 fans for Michigan’s 2013 matchup against Notre Dame.
”
Still impressive tho!

so basically you agree 😊 and I think a lot of people would go straight from work ps how about a 7pm compromise? ..the idea being the home trip is not too late.

I enjoyed the Monday night fixture..the issue is would it draw crowds as a work night ? well I look at it this way..fri night you have the tendency for people to want to go out and enjoy themselves whereas Monday night they could go to say a 6.30pm game and be home in plenty of time. PLUS I feel Mon night viewing is wide open for a sports game.

‘ He’ll pick Bruno over a Nestory.’ I dont think so and I hope not. Duke will start (or MacLaren) and I see it as a good idea to give Irunkunda a few minutes. Then again I might play Yengi and Milesnic is looking worth a try. I see Fallandrolli as both a Backward step and bad for the team..hes a ball hogger
