Im only saying he’ll be top 4…not win it to be fair.

Man City top list of premiership contenders

lvg’s track record would suggest otherwise.

Man City top list of premiership contenders

Arsenal in the past have actually tended to start badly and finish strongly (normally to pip tottenham to fourth), however I feel that this season they have added a bit more depth. Still missing that destroyer defensive midfielder (strootman) to sure things up in the center but we could see ramsey/wilshire fill that role this year. Dont underestimate lvg, he is a winner.

bojan for golden boot?

He has signed for NYC FC which will be the 20th franchise in the MLS from next season onwards, given the MLS starts in Feb he’s been loaned out to Melbourne for 10 games. to keep him fit for the off season, while NYC FC recruits and builds a team around him. Why Melbourne? – One common link – Both teams have the same owner – a certain boy in Abu Dhabi called Mansour

The death of the Euro snob: What Villa means to the A-League

@Nordster, While an opposing view is always welcome for a good discussion, it’s a difficult position to hold that the migrant workers have been given a massive opportunity to work in qatar.

There is a host of information that isnt available unless you are on the ground, managing the labourers. Information like, how many hours a week they work, days a week they work, what times, what temperatures, in the shade? Is it safe? Are they given decent accomodation with AC? Are they being fed properly? How much did they pay for their visa/flight to qatar? How much are they earning? How much does it cost to live there? How much does it cost to send money home? Are they being paid on time? Are managers holding their passports?

Once we have the answers to these basic questions we can have a real discussion about whether its morally right or wrong.

However, what we do have is stats. Stats that say Nepalese (and others) are dying of sudden heart attacks and other work related injuries at an alarming rate. That isnt right. One can work backwards to find out the cause, or find and interview people working there.

I am going to try and get as much info on the matter and when I do, you’ll be the first to know.

The dark side of the World Cup

Who's really at fault for World Cup fiasco?

good piece. love arsene, this is something i wrote last year that you might find interesting.

My obsession with a French football coach

very true AR. I live in Dubai and it was very bad here till there was international attention brought to the subject. Qatar is a country that is going through the same process and lets hope they improve (or are already improving) the working conditions today. Far too many people dying from sudden heart attacks

The dark side of the World Cup

The dark side of the World Cup

There will be 170,000 police and security personnel deployed which is a 22% increase on the SA world cup.

The dark side of the World Cup

The piece was not meant to say that FIFA is the cause of all of Brazils woes.It has simply magnified whatever comes out of the country because the worlds media spotlight is on them. As I mention in the article, the World Cup is simply a lightning rod, a scapegoat for the current socio-economic and political issues in the country. Also, it must be mentioned that it is no easy task cleaning up the Favelas and they have come a long way from young boys wearing havainas with guns patroling the street.
As for the cut and paste comment, it was from professor Christopher Gaffney of Fluminense Federal University.

The dark side of the World Cup

While I really hope you’re right, and you might well be, there are crucial differences between all the other events and this one. If we compare SA and Brazil, SA had 10% objecting to the world cup whereas in Brazil the figure is closer to 50%. This means that demonstrations have been planned (and will go ahead) during the world cup. This isnt a new phenomenon, this has been an ongoing issue for years. Then you have the fact that this is the first time stadiums haven’t been built for the competition. Brazil does have too much riding on it but they are somehow still screwing up.

The dark side of the World Cup

mostly EPL, but I’m getting into my A league now

Is football being catered to dummies?

Everyone would do what he did in that game.

Is football being catered to dummies?

yes he did, and Fergie judged him to not be good enough in terms of his ability and mentality

Is football being catered to dummies?

that’s interesting- good to know. Could explain the rapid rises of Mourinho and Villas Boas

As I stated in the article- being a good footballer does not make you a good commentator.

Is football being catered to dummies?

I think that as Fadida says above “Sometimes I think it’s that cultural cringe of an Australian accent/euro snobs that stops people listening”- I may be guilty of that and will endevour to listen to him more carefully from now on. My opinion on Bosnich is very unlikely to change. Last week he said that teams play from the back “to give the forwards a breather”- Really?

Is football being catered to dummies?

Well put fadida. I remember the forwards need a rest comment, only cementing my opinion that he is incompetent. Was it in the Melbourne-Sydney game last weekend?

Is football being catered to dummies?

1 game.

Is football being catered to dummies?

The proof is not how you started supporting a club but for how long and with how much passion you continue to support your chosen club. Footballing success is cyclical for the most part so if you are able (like a marriage) to support your team in good times and bad then you are a true fan.

European football hypocrites and glory hunters

When I referred to their respective backgrounds I was not simply implying their playing careers but their off the pitch achievements and behaviour. So while my football pedigree has a lot left to be desired, my passion, knowledge and intelligence goes some way to bridging that handicap (I hope).
Secondly, I also make the point later in the article that Bosnich and Harper are paid to do their job and and such should perform to a certain level.
Do you feel that Fox Sports have the best pundits that football has to offer??

Is football being catered to dummies?

You’re right. It’s definitely not an easy gig as a pundit and not everyone is ever going to be happy. As for Thierry, nobody is perfect but he’s a great ambassador for the game and 99% of the time handled himself well on the pitch.

Is football being catered to dummies?

One big issue at the club is the lack of transparency on transfer dealings at the club. Is it Arsene or the board that want a transfer surplus every year?
It’s not out of the realm of possibility that a cash strapped Barcelona would see Wenger as an attractive manager in the future with his football philosophy similar to their own. This is in addition to the numerous Arsenal players that Barcelona have bought, all of whom were bought at a fraction of the price by Arsene.
