Hi Paul, thanks for your comment! Glad to hear you agree with me. Re the injury concerns, I think it will come down to team management, and how they utilise the 15-man squad across the duration of the tournament. However it’s a no-brainer that they need their best eleven on the park against England.

South Africa’s year: Why the Proteas will win the World Cup

I will admit, Tye had a good Big Bash, but Agar hardly bowled and NCN didn’t play a single game if I’m not mistaken. Meanwhile, Hastings has shown time and time again that he is a reliable white-ball performer and should have been given a bigger run in this side. His IPL experience would have come in handy as well.

Agree with the Faulkner bit, in his limited Big Bash season his economy was 9.2, among the worst in the competition. He’s been discovered on the international stage by most teams – batting’s gone down the drain and those slower balls have lost their mystery.

Agreed. Why pick a guy who’s played virtually no cricket this summer for an international tournament when you’ve got Hazlewood in the squad and choose to leave out a spinner like Cameron Boyce who would have likely been way more effective?

Thanks for the feedback Camo. As far as I can tell, there are no restrictions on Afghanis in the IPL. I definitely agree in regards to playing county cricket, but T20 cricket elsewhere could be the break Associate players are looking for. The Caribbean Premier League features Kevin O’Brien and a number of ICC Americas players as well, and Mohammad Nabi played in the Pakistan Super League, so surely there is somewhere for Shahzad and other Afghan players (Rashid Khan has been very impressive) to fit in.
