Players do not get to choose where they are drafted. Why are they then expected to be suddenly loyal to that team for life?

Free agency is here to stay; being a one-club player is not

Excellent Mullo. Clearing up a LOT of false statements. Compo pick was what the crows knowingly signed up for when they rejected Melbourne’s offer last year. The crows won’t match

Adelaide's Dangerfield dilemma: Do they match a rival offer?

Anyone but Hawthorn, but the AFL will no doubt sort out another flag for all those cats and dogs Hawthorn members

Which AFL club’s bandwagon will you jump on in September?

But Dangerfield hasn’t (and based on history of players remaining unsigned-probably won’t) signed a new deal with Adelaide? This is just rambling barracking. Two massive assumptions that Dangerfield stays and their new coach will fit in right away

Has the Adelaide Crows' window opened?

That is untrue about the cats. Geelong won their last flag in 2011 which was Gold Coast’s first year. And remind me, didn’t the cats lose their best player to the Gold Coast? A bit of research wouldn’t go astray Dave

Mark my words, Adelaide Oval will remain Danger's field

How about Sydney finishing top after starting 1-3 last year? You can twist stats anyway you want them, but really I think some actual analysis is needed when making statements, something this article greatly lacks, just looks like someone taking pleasure in what appears the inevitable end to a great run

Geelong are 16th and will not make the eight this season

I think the cats probably did consider themselves contenders, and probably still do. But I do not see this as bad, why not have a shot at winning the premiership? Its what footy is played for, otherwise what is the point? What is the harm? I’d be disappointed if the cats didn’t consider themselves contenders, and try and get one more flag out of bartel, stevie J and co. this is not to say they are contenders looking objectively, but there is no harm in trying for a flag in Geelong’s position

Geelong versus North game could end flag hopes

Agree about the Cats bot being contenders. Hard to say as a cats man but we have had a good run so I can’t be too unhappy. I guess the six you have above North now are hawks, freo, swans, power, crows and bombers. I would disagree slightly and have North still ahead of the bombers and crows and be hesitant about reading too much into the first three rounds. However, lose this weekend, and North would drop right down in my estimations

Geelong versus North game could end flag hopes

“Emotions will run high within the Crows camp after the shock passing of assistant coach Dean Bailey last week, and the players will be out to honour his memory with, at the very least, a commendable performance against the Cats, whom they have not beaten at Geelong since 2003.

However, on more serious matters, the team will be out to make amends for a disappointing 2013 which saw the club crash from within a kick of reaching what would have been their first grand final since 1998 to 11th on the ladder.”

I feel extremely uncomfortable with these paragraphs. Could you please clarify them-please do not tell me that the Crows returning to form is more serious than the death of a human being?

2014 AFL season: Round 1 preview (part II)

you’re not wrong calling matt stokes’ inclusion on this list a “bit harsh”!!!
Haven’t the past two games just highlighted the incredibly tough decision Chris Scott has had to make. Does he go with proven veterans who will give him nothing more and nothing less than he expects or does he risk not getting as much out of youngsters, in the hope of long term gain? The pressure-cooker game down at Simonds was exactly the sort of experience needed by McCarthy, Brown etc. However up until the last quarter, it looked as though the cats’ decision to let so many veterans go could backfire. This would have been compounded had they lost, given the way Chappy played last night, and even josh hunt played last week… but chris scott would be feeling pretty happy with life at the moment, but I bet you he and all cats’ fans are a little scared when they have to face the bald-headed monster they created-Chappy! But then again we got a glimpse of Chappy’s fragility when he started limping… and we were reminded of part of the reason the cats let him go… oh the decisions an afl coach must make

Bartel brilliant, but it's time to assess Geelong's youth

“Haddin’s sublime innings today only served to highlight what a frustrating cricketer he is” that and he saved our bacon. Come on Ronan, focus on the now and give the man some credit. We can’t all applaud him for switching gears then get angry when he gets out hitting. thats not logical

ASHES: Talking points from Brisbane day one

woah, 8 and a half years… that is a damning statistic. we’ve played Canada in London, but cant be bothered to get to Perth? Great article, made me think

FFA and the Socceroos need to embrace all of Australia
