After watching a smattering of Big Bash League matches, I have started to question the oft-quoted “shallow pool of talent” when discussing the Australian…
Worst night of no sleep 3 mayes and I ever had was in a beetle. Great gear box though,!
Travis should Head up the order until Green proves he’s four-midable enough to earn important spot
Two different teams. I have spent the night on the side of the road in both and I know which one worked better.
Travis should Head up the order until Green proves he’s four-midable enough to earn important spot
I don’t think issues with one player’s form should disturb another’s

Trying to understand the difference between Head’s innings and the top order guys it seems as simple as he’s looking to score rather than just not trying to get out. Like I said, a simplified understanding. In particular Steve Smith and not just in the last innings he can’t seem to get to the scoring mode quick enough before he gets out. I have confidence he will sort out his mental issues but he’s s not fun to watch at the moment.
Head-strong ton and Hazlewood’s sizzling spell send Windies sprawling but Aussies struggling for form despite winning streak
It’s a pleasure to see the visiting Test teams when they come. I enjoyed yesterday’s cricket without giving the “cricis” Test Cricket is facing a single thought.
COMMENT: What's the point in playing the Windies? Only the future of Test cricket itself
When it came out Tonight’s the Night had me in it’s grip but not so much these days it must have been all the weed I was smoking back then. A line from that has stuck “what do ya mean he had bullet holes in his mirror” Neil was and is a different cat.
West Indies playing for their future as a legitimate Test nation with memory fading of long lost Calypso glory days
I thought signs of a stronger more dangerous De Minaur clearly on display last night although first serve accuracy was rubbish. Does anyone else turn off the sound when Peter Psaltis commentates? Some one has to tell him it’s not a radio broadcast and often less is way better than more.

One caviate is if Bancroft has ambitions to be a tv commentator. They talk a lot but never say anything it’s the golden rule.
The brotherhood: Why Warner will be forever silent about Sandpapergate
Well if this is the plan, it’s a good one. Will it work out ? Queue all NOSTRALDAMUSSES! ( I think I just invented a new word)
Four sight: Callous critics need to realise 'something special' factor can turn Green into Australia's Jacques Kallis
As far as winning test matches is concerned scoring more quickly helps but not losing 20 wickets helps more.
Scoring at a snail’s pace: Why Australia's pedestrian top four is about to get even slower
If the Selectors choose the next best opener then there’s nothing to explain before or after. If they choose otherwise will they own the consequences if it doesn’t work or will they let the miracle candidate wear it on their own ?
Every Australian Test opener option, ranked: Why sending Smith up is a recipe for disaster
Exactly, he could sweep up after the end of the day and the picture is complete

IF the speculation is right then why not shuffle the batting order every game? “Hey Steve you wanna come in at number 11 today?” “Hey Josh, Josh! any one seen Josh?”

However, Test Cricket is Test Cricket fiddling with the format isn’t going to turn on anyone new to the game and will just annoy those who love it. More day night tests seems an obvious and only
option to me. Cutting one day isn’t going make a positive difference to attendance or affect the commercial realities of the market for players and spectators. Losing 20% playing and viewing time is a big hit to Test Match income. Yes I know not every match goes 5 days, same as it ever was.
‘Is this a defining moment in the death of Test cricket’: Steve's right to be on Waughpath over pathetic Proteas squad
I wonder what impact these comments are designed to have on the players involved? I can’t see any possible benefits.
Giving Green light to opener experiment could work - but that doesn’t mean it’s the right option
So Green, whom I rate as a big talent but is currently sidelined due to being second choice for all-rounder role is an ideal candidate for the vacant opener spot! A position he has never occupied in first class cricket. Obvious innit!
