In case you didn’t see the note in the article, please check your tips for Sydney vs St Kilda. The system is only smart enough to work out whether you picked the home or away team so, now that’s been swapped, your tip may have changed without you knowing.

The Roar's AFL expert tips and predictions: Round 12

NT closed the borders to Victoria before NSW.

Gillon McLachlan makes the call on AFL Round 11

He’d had a few quiet ones before going back to the ressies. No goals and only two kicks in back-to-back games.

He’ll come good.

Dockers brace for Lance Franklin's Perth sequel

Fair cop Macca. “Woefully disappointing” is quite harsh in light of their fixture.

The Roar's AFL expert tips and predictions: Round 10

Same thought process as me. With Greene in I would’ve backed the Giants in a heartbeat.

The Roar's AFL expert tips and predictions: Round 10

You’ll be horrified to know the draft pick Hawthorn gave up for Wingard, alongside Ryan Burton, turned into Xavier Duursma.

Hawks in ruins, a victim of hubris

That 2018 finals appearance is a bigger aberration than Melbourne’s at this stage.

Hawks in ruins, a victim of hubris

If you look at their 2016 trade period, they gave up Sam Mitchell, Jordan Lewis, Brad Hill, pick 14, their 2017 first-rounder, pick 10 (which St Kilda gave them for their 2017 first-rounder) and the pick Freo gave them for Hill in exchange for Jaeger O’Meara and Tom Mitchell.

You simply cannot call that the beginning of a rebuild. They absolutely sold the farm to stay near the top for a few more years and it’s netted them two finals appearances (zero wins) in five seasons.

Hubris indeed.

Hawks in ruins, a victim of hubris

I get they wanted to play 4D chess with Mitchell and Lewis to bring in Jaeger O’Meara and Tom Mitchell, but it’s blown up in their face. Both of those guys are 27 so, while they aren’t over the hill, I can’t seem them improving much more over the next few years.

Could be a long road back to the top.

After a third of the season, each AFL team reviewed

Excellent point. Clarko will always go down as one of the greats thanks to four flags, but a lot of questions have to be asked about what’s gone on in the last four-ish years.

Same tips as me. Looking forward to toasting our 9/9s next week.

Cameron Green comes agonisingly close to pulling off the catch of the century

I thought Martin was on his last legs during last year’s finals series, but he’s found a new gear so far in 2021.

Ultimately, I think it was a move the Lions had to make to get Daniher in.

Belief in Ballarat can fix lazy Lions

Can’t agree with you on the Hickey one. No prior opportunity (now that taking the ball out of the ruck is no longer forfeiting prior), ball pinned to the body by the tackler – that can’t be holding the ball. I think it’s a stupid rule change, taking the ball out of the ruck should be prior, but they changed it ahead of 2019.

But saying the Swans got the rub isn’t unfair – the Heppell deliberate you mentioned below was definitely wrong and the high contact free Justin McInerney got was incredibly soft.

Nik Cox looks like an absolute bullet, very impressed with him.

Essendon's round 4 review

Pretty fair summation Chuckakhan. I didn’t see any issues with holding the ball, but I thought the umpires were really harsh on deliberate out of bounds and it definitely hurt Essendon more.

Quite the turnaround from the Dons after the first two rounds, what do you think’s been the big difference?

Essendon's round 4 review

No, it’s a Collingwood home game. They were due to play each other later in the year in Melbourne and that game has been given back to the Lions.

The Roar's AFL expert tips and predictions: Round 3

There’s a known server issue that was accepting multiple tips in the first few rounds. You should’ve seen some of the people getting 15 out of 4 in Super Rugby!

A big fix will be incoming soon that will get everything back to normal again.

The Roar's AFL expert tips and predictions: Round 3

I’m well aware of the history of the Crows joining the AFL. It doesn’t change the fact that the Magpies never played against the Crows and so the significance of wearing the jumper in that clash is tenuous.

It's time for Port Adelaide to break out the prison bars again

Geelong and Carlton have the same colours – but their jumper designs are drastically different an the Cats wear primarily white anyway. Comparing Adelaide to Brisbane is a huge stretch – navy, gold and red is not at all similar to maroon, blue and gold and Fitzroy’s actual heritage colours are maroon, navy and white.

Collingwood’s clash strip works fine too – who does it not work against?

It's time for Port Adelaide to break out the prison bars again

Navy and white. The last jumper they wore in the VFA was almost identical to Carlton’s – all dark blue with a NMFC monogram.

It's time for Port Adelaide to break out the prison bars again

Given the Crows were never part of the SANFL, I’m confused as to what the significance of wearing the prison bars in the Showdown is. Given the Magpies still exist as normal in the SANFL too, I actually don’t think Port have much of a leg to stand on here – their original history still exists in exactly the same form. It’s an unpopular opinion, but I also feel like if it was someone other than Eddie leading the charge, the debate would be more reasonable.

North Melbourne were forced to change their colours to join the VFL in 1925 too – it happens.

It's time for Port Adelaide to break out the prison bars again

That sounds about right. Adelaide are 13-7 at the SCG all-time and Sydney’s all-time winning percentage against Adelaide is their third-lowest against any current team.

The Roar's AFL expert tips and predictions: Round 2

Yes, it’s unfortunately been a persistent server error. A big fix is incoming shortly that should fix all the errors from the first few weeks and ensure it doesn’t happen again going forward.

Eight talking points from NRL Round 1

Geelong and Brisbane were both guilty of turning up expecting to win, you’d have to say.

Like a warm hug

Hi Ray,

This was a data error that saw tips for some matches accepted more than once. We’re fixing it as we speak.
