That’s a big call but I’m hoping you’ll be right. I think that our defence will be too strong and if our attack is on then our pace out wide (especially JAC) will be too much for saints (or any team). That said it’s going to be one hell of a game!

I think that the tv commentators should talk the game Up less when it comes to them proclaiming a great crowd in attendance when we know that it is not. 64 games played this year – 2 sell outs – one in Penrith and one in Melbourne. Sydney clubs playing at suburban grounds should sell out nearly every match but they have trouble selling out even one!

Warriors outdraw the blues and every Sydney league team out draws the Waratahs, who used to draw 25k plus per game 10 years ago – now 10k. Then there’s Melbourne. Storm averaging 17k and rebels about 8k.

Let’s be honest, nice bloke though he may be, Barrett is not an NRL standard coach. Manly should dump him along with a number of their underperforming players. Manly also screwed up signing DCE for 10 years at a million plus per year. On his money he should be taking games by the scruff of the neck and winning quite a few off his own bat. But he can’t or won’t do it. He’s good when their winning a match well but that’s about it.

I actually think the saints Illawarra merger has worked well. The saints are essentially the saints and the crowds at Wollongong are fantastic at a beautiful boutique venue – I’ve never been there but it looks great on tv.

Very good article, Tim. I fail to see how this “man” can purport to know what is simply impossible to know based only on his interpretation of the bible and then vilify about 10 per cent of our population based on nothing more than that. I agree, he’s not worth the trouble and, lest there be any doubt, rugby league has moved passed him now. He does not have the speed or agility or athleticism to mix it with the new breed like addo-Carr, vunivalu, tuivasa sheck et al. He’s a solid centre at best worth about 300k a year, not enough for a mercenary like folou who was happy to accept millions from afl to be used as a pawn in what was nothing more than a brazen publicity stunt. Stick with rugger and your church Izzy the NRL can well do without you.

Crowd will be the same for Anzac Day games. Probably won’t make much difference to any of the roosters’ crowds, which are well below par in any event.

You’re right. Compare him to james graham at saints. Why on earth would Canterbury, or any club, choose woods (mediocre and lazy) over graham, who always gives 100 per cent and is the toughest player in the game, even though he is not particularly big.
