Hi Rugger, I am very interested in that Korean rugby team information, would you have a link to the info? The same for Poland and Czechia teams in the RESC.
Regardless of how the competition pans out, cohesiveness between unions, competitions and clubs needs to be a priority. Otherwise it won’t get the backing it will deserve. I would expect a team in Bibao as well as the Basque region is a rugby hotspot in Southern Europe/North Spain.
The Cheetahs wanted to join the Challenge Cup, but got rejected. The Toyota Challenge I felt was a bit of a gimmick and tried to replace the Challenge Cup.
I look forward to your MLR article as well, fingers crossed for Canada 2 and Chicago.
A new future for Spanish rugby
I would say Newcastle and Gold Coast would be the best 2 options. Both are the largest population centres outside of Sydney and Brisbane. Gold Coast I believe also has the biggest population of NZ expats so could possible draw a crowd. Both cities have NRL teams and could share stadiums as well.
Why Super Rugby is broken and how Australia must shift the focus to save domestic game
I wrote a similar article last year about a stand alone competition for Australia. An independent sport analysis company also suggested that the best way to move forward was to have an independent comp, and the ratings proved that.

Nothing involving the French or Italians has been reported yet.

More the merrier I say. No reason to say no to Sri Lanka.
How Japan could help rugby grow in Asia
Most likely dead, but there is no official announcement.

Chile would be good too, but ultimately you also have to look at potential TV markets for the major base of income to keep leagues running. I think majority of the countries will eventually get 2 teams if the league can prove to be sustainable.
What South America can learn from Super Rugby
It’s not about stopping growth, but ensuring that it can be sustainable by investing smartly. I think your model of Super Rugby would have worked too, but the cost of traveling across continents is a drain on a sporting league.

Poor Sheeks, it’s an issue that doesn’t seem to want to be addressed by Rugby Australia. Something has to change though, I was hoping COVID would bring that change. It just gets harder to watch rugby collapse as the A-League, NRL, and NBL grow.
