“he’s lost his zip”

Perhaps ask the young female complainant if she remembers seeing it?

Beale's back! Wallabies star joins Western Force after injury opens the door for veteran's return

Why is it just assumed that old players will automatically mentor younger players? And that it will result in a great outcome? The last thing I’d want is Kurtley passing on what he’s done at 10 and 15.

Correct mate. I didn’t say I disagreed.. just didn’t understand.

'It can be something great': Schmidt turns to 'scrum doctor' as next step in Wallabies rebuild

Ah.. now I see. Thanks for the translation!

I’ve put this into Google translate.. still nothing.

'It can be something great': Schmidt turns to 'scrum doctor' as next step in Wallabies rebuild

My hope is that Joe Schmidt fast tracks HMP within the next two years as the Wallaby 10.. it’s very clear none of the other 10s genuinely have the full gamut of skills in attack AND defence to hit the mark at Test standard. Harry looks like he might have a high ceiling if polished quickly under Kiss, then Schmidt. Also that Schmidt puts Lonergan at 9 and hands him all the major kicking duties. No rule says 10’s must take place kicks. Lolesio place-kicks fine, but like every other 10, he’s just too weak everywhere else to galvanise the genuine turnaround needed for the Wallabies. Some solid SR 10’s in Australia now, but all display too many flaws for test footy. Same goes for the 15 spot – what’s going on?!

'It was brutal': Clutch Lolesio kicks Brumbies to 'Test match intensity' win over Reds as Wright shines again

Fair. Thanks.

'He's very arty in way he plays': Fraser paints positive picture of Wilson combo with Wallaby partnership 'the end goal'

I thought a few years back that Liam Wright was a smarter 7 than McReight, and it was his best position – he was so good there. He hasn’t played 7 for a while since FMcR came along and Wright was too good for Thorn not to squeeze him in somewhere, so with the departing ASYoung he slotted him into 6, but what do you think of having 6 Valetini / 7 Wright / 8 Wilson in theory as a back 3 combo? Take Valetini off at the 60-min mark and move Wright to 6 to finish so that Fraser McReight can be the dynamic finisher at 7. A fresh McReight at 7 with 20 to go could hark back to the game-changing golden days of Lord Pocock!

Another metric that never gets mentioned: players who put bums on seats. Some players, through their own repeated good merits capture the public’s interest and sell tickets. If Corey was given a Wallabies debut, I’d show up just to see it. Add in that Qld backline, Faessler, Jorgo at 15, and then drop players who clearly shouldn’t be there, and suddenly there’s a team selected on genuine honest merit. Fans aren’t stupid. Stop selling us poop on a stick and telling us it’s wagyu beef.

The astounding numbers that must propel Corey 'Rocket Man' Toole into a Wallabies jersey

The Reds team’s general playing balance extends far beyond their three “balanced back row players” though.. the trio doesn’t reap excellent results just in isolation. Les Kiss has the broader team gelling on the finer details that Aussie teams haven’t done for a long time. It’s a real achievement in such a short time, and shines a brilliant light on why coaching quality at the top end matters.

'Talent can be fickle': Schmidt avoids rushing to conclusions as JOC calls for 'Reds-heavy' Wallabies

You mean the same collective Roar wisdom where most experts still say ValeNtini every time they post?

RA's manic Monday and how it will shape the future of the Australian game

@Piru: excellent suggestions – you’re all over it! Maybe you should sit on the RA board? I know nothing about RA governance here in Aus, other than to know the Sydney-centric approach has killed the game for ever.. so why don’t we just dump the current board plus any hangers-on, and then start entrely afresh, by relocating RA headquarters to, say, Alice Springs? No state bias ever again.. plus, that’s about as “centralisation” as you can get! 😛
I’ll see myself out..

RA's manic Monday and how it will shape the future of the Australian game

Yes, it’s annoying. Are you on an iphone and using Chrome browser? I swapped to Brave browser 4 months ago and it now works fine.. has also been working fine on Firefox browser. Ymmv.

Love the Reds, but I’ll respectfully wait til the NZ teams have had their home games against them.. might not be so rosy-Reds then, but fingers crossed it will be.

'Breathing life back into Australian rugby': How Reds revolution can supercharge several Wallaby careers

Gut. Beard. Towelling hat. What more could you want?

Exclusive: Schmidt set to bring 'Lord' back to the Wallabies as first key appointment

Yes.. it’s a shocker. Just one of a few others that bug the helloutta me. My biggest hate: try scorers in every game who just amble over the line out wide and drop, without pinning the ears back and promoting the pill further round under the posts, or even just a few metres closer.. so then the kicker is stuck with a wider, harder kick. It’s been happening for years (in League too). I’ll die of old age before any coach finally smashes ALL his players over the head with promoting the kick much closer for easy points in close games. Easiest points gain there is!

Harry.. whilst the subject matter is subjective, objectively you seem to be without peer as the king of snappy headline writing.. another superb entendre! 😂

Jed, Ned and Tane Edmed: The direction Joe Schmidt should head to put Eddie era to bed

@Ed. Yep, happening on my iPhone 12 when I use the Google Chrome browser. I deleted the Chrome app, and then re-installed it, which fixed the issue. Wasn’t doing it on other browsers like Safari, Brave and Firefox. Just my experience..

COMMENT: This is the real reason why the Force were cut in 2017

Lordy. We ARE actually doomed, if this is what a player of his famed standing honestly thinks is the solution. Could this actually be the stupidest story the Roar has ever published? So many lamebrained opinions in this story, it’s hard to see how it’s not a parody.

'Our talent is spread too thin': Ex-Wallabies captain urges Rugby Australia to cut Super teams

Tackle stats are 100% ambiguous, yet people quote them like they’re proof absolute that a guy is fully dependable as a tackler. Eg Loleseo vs Lynagh tackle stats ~84% vs ~73%. No mention of if their completed tackles were a one-on-one against a marauding Tupou-like forward, or if it was against a similar-sized small winger who was ankle tapped a second earlier by someone else anyway, so they just finished it off by touching him down and earned a completed tackle stat in the process. I’ve seen Noah earn so many of this tackle stats. It’s all just randomness for tv pundits to bang on about. A more useful hypothetical: line up a constant player at training – say.. Paisami? Get Paisami to run ten times at the player.. then same again at the next player.. analyse whose defensive technique brings him down most effectively over repeated efforts with no other variables involved. Clearly this is just a hypothetical and isn’t ever going to happen, but the point is – any number of wildly varied factors can contribute to difficulty of a tackle and tackle stats just being randomised collisions.. they’re pointless for objective factualising player vs player. So based on that – my money’s still on Carter Gordon defending better in the line, not on tackle stats, but purely because he’s demonstrated astounding bravery against big brutality, over and over, and he just gets back up and goes again. I don’t think any other Aus 10 can claim close to that. There’s no stat for bravery, or commitment. He seems to have it though and is facing a whole other level of tackles compared to some of the other lads.

Five things we learned: Aussies given early Super Rugby warning, Lolesio's timely reminder

I guess it all depends on the individual punter and their point of view. I don’t want the AFL ‘to have nightmares’, or any code for that matter, certainly not to the point where their code’s existence is threatened, like Rugby’s now is. What’s the point of that kind of death-riding any great Aussie sporting code? Do you know how fortunate we are here to have a ridiculous amount of high-quality sporting codes to watch, support and even play in? Most other countries just get football, then football and finally .. football. LAME.

10 reasons league and union should merge to become One Rugby - and give AFL nightmares

Imo, only pick a 10 if he can defend in the line, and ideally hit hard when he does. Then, in attack, hope he has a decent skill set to move the team around, and a good boot would help. So all that considered, that counts out everyone except Carter Gordon. Oh, and Reece Hodge.. if he was ever coached decently in this country, he might have been something at 10.. he created that fabulous kick-thru try years ago against NZ last time he played at 10 and put us ahead for a few seconds! In fact, did we win that Kiwi test with him at 10? Hopefully he’ll get some decent high-level coaching in France atm from a coach who stops using him as a utility – he could still be a bolter! 😀
