Sick of super rugby no tribalism all about the wallabies. Super rugby is like Sheffield shield cricket just a national team trial eg no fans care about it .
We need to be like French rugby eg imports and private owners . Scrap Gits law scrap centralisation , less wallaby tests per yr, scrap central contracts .
And be more like Aussie soccer eg have our best team only turn up for the big games and World Cup.
Centralisation and our rugby relationship with NZ, has been a financial disaster for OZ rugby

'Hamish has thrown a hand grenade' - Turinui backs RA 'tribalism' but Horan fears impact of cutting ties with NZ

Darren Coleman focus Is still to help the wallabies eg he’s blocked by how many imports he can sign. When he was coaching in LA, he signed more imports and wasn’t obligated to help USA national team.

League One final gives pause for thought about Japanese links to Super Rugby

Europe and Japan is where it’s at. We need to have the England and French model eg club glory no 1 for the club/private owners lots of foreign imports/tribalism etc, super rugby franchises not obligated to help the national team. So sick of this centralised Wallaby first business model. It reduced super rugby to a wallaby tribal. Yet RA cry and some wallaby fans cry about no passion or tribalism in super rugby or no crowds. You can’t have it both ways. Sheffield shield works being a national team trial as it makes no money . Super rugby needs to ditch the national team first model and look like French rugby if you want the passion like we saw in La Rochelle. And yes scrap Gits law and pick Aussies from anywhere. Rory Arnold Skelton(in form on weekend), Quade Kerevi. Oh but no, RA only allowing 3 Gits law guys. Give up on the centralised wallaby model RA, otherwise stop crying about no passion in Aussie super rugby fans if you aren’t willing to be like French or English rugby(clubs not obligated to care about national teams).

He’s eligible to play for Tonga at RWC 2027 if he wants!!!

'I'd love a break from Super Rugby': Taniela declares his hand while Rennie gives update on Wallaby star's future

Agree

There is no need to replace Arnold for World Cup playoffs

The fact you think Bert did a good job at Russia 2018 makes me thing are you aware your in the minority ?
You think his tactics were good , you are in the minority who did

There is no need to replace Arnold for World Cup playoffs

Sense is not your common point.

No coach in the world can suddenly develop there systems and cohesion on the back of one week training camp then a do or die play off.. But hay you think that’s possible under your thought bubble of professional footballers can just adapt or cohesions and new systems like that . It doesn’t work like that it needs time . You are showing a desperate times desperate measures attitude with high level risk taking, rather than keep Arnold. Arnold has a better chance than winning in June than your nothing to lose high risk brow of installing a new coach without any time to develop his systems or cohesion . Talk about desperate tactics by you.

There is no need to replace Arnold for World Cup playoffs

Sack Poppa

There is no need to replace Arnold for World Cup playoffs

Bert is a terrible manager. He is worse than Arnold , his tactics at Russia 2018 were terrible and so defensive. We had a decent side and Bert ruined pro chances more than anyone eg so inept vs Denmark , and only using Tim Cahill when it was all to late vs Peru.
You have no idea if you want Bert to take over..

There is no need to replace Arnold for World Cup playoffs

With no preparation or lead up games to form cohesion and a system , yeah that makes real sense NOT

There is no need to replace Arnold for World Cup playoffs

The Hiddink thing is kinda different as well.
He got some Oceania play offs in Sept-2005 vs Solomon Islands to work with the squad and try and stamp his authority on a talented side.

If a new guy comes in, he will be chucked in the deep end in June(World Cup qualifiers not friendlies) no matches with the squad(much less talented than 2005) , a nightmare situation for any coach no matter how good the coach is eg Pep standard or Zidane..

I think Arnold must be retained for June qualifiers no matter what. He can coach, and if he gets a full strength squad for Qatar assuming we somehow sneak in, he will do okay..

The qualifiers are in Qatar not South America thank heavens for that. But UAE or Iraq will be a huge Challenge itself to beat in the Middle East(Eg they will cope with the weather and culture of Qatar far easier than our boys)..

There is no need to replace Arnold for World Cup playoffs

These rules won’t last.
If Koribate is the best wing/and Skelton Rory Arnold the best two locks, all 3 will go to World Cup along with Kerevi and Cooper. Just more sugar coating from RA delaying the inevitable that Gits law will be scrapped altogether and players will be picked from anywhere eg like the Socceroos. Australian mens rugby 15’s is about one thing only and that’s World Cups. You take your best team to the big dance, non negotiable.

RA's strategy to replace Giteau Law for eligibility puts pressure on Rennie, RWC hopefuls

Inglis is a better batter and should be put in. And yes Aussie selectors we’re wrong to keep Ian Healy going when he should have been dumped three yrs before eg in 1996 for Gilly if not 1995.

The keeper is dead. Long live the keeper

Batting comes first for modern keepers. England was completely right to cut short Jack Russell career and make Alec Stewart the WK , despite Alec Stewart being the inferior WK. England had no faith in Chris Read either who was a good keeper but weak batter. Windies were right to dump little David Williams for batting keeper Junior Murray.
Inglis is a better batter and should be the keeper, the selectors have made a mistake..

The keeper is dead. Long live the keeper

Lol nice cheap dig at me. I like rugby Union better than RL anyday of the week. But I believe in picking the best side from anywhere . Boo hoo to loyal rugby players who miss out on a wallaby jersey. Winning comes first not loyalty

Is it too late to reverse rugby's long decline?

Did you read what I said? I said bad buys not bad guys.
Your so wrong they all were top tier rugby players.
Boo hoo to your rugby players slogging it out, only to be overtaken by rugby league signings who are better(are you saying Eddie Jones and super rugby coaches are incompetent bu picking em, but you know best Piru the rugby fan).

Lol piru you don’t know what you on about , just going round in circles your argument.

It’s about picking the best players from anywhere for the wallabies, the wallabies ain’t a team based on being loyal to rugby union. Bet you oppose overseas wallabies like Quade copper picking and choosing when to play for the wallabies to .

Is it too late to reverse rugby's long decline?

Or his love of toobs chips. Or his opinions on Ian Bell the Sherminator Warnie calls him.
He likes giving his opinion on cars to.
He always is very loud and vocal come AFL grand final week.
And of course Warney has done the reality tv circuit , and he loves airing opinions on Steve Waugh one of his favourite pet subjects…

It's time to break our exhausting addiction to 'What Warnie Reckons'

Wrong. That was a good move by JON. All 3 made a good contribution. How can you say Matt Rogers lote and Dell were bad buys?
If they were so bad, how come they kept getting picked?
Matt Rogers played for Aussie schoolboys to so he had a rugby background.

Is it too late to reverse rugby's long decline?

My take is Fiji don’t need the new eligibility rules(not sure they were even in favour of em). They are doing well with there own development systems..

This will help Samoa/Tonga for sure.

I would like to see further tweaking though.

1)Any player who has played more than 20 Tests, can’t switch to a new nation Eg Izzy Folau/Koribate types

2) An 28+ rule. That any player wanting to switch to new nation must be aged 28 and over. So if you play under my rules say five tests for wallabies by age 23, you have to wait until aged 28 to switch…

Some players now might hang on longer to chase their Tier 1 dream under the new rules so it’s not all a bed of roses the new rules Eg Would Kahn Foutuali’i or Jack Lam switch to Samoa under these new rules? Or would they have wanted to try there luck more with AB selection stuff?

So yep , the new rules won’t be as big a gravy train as Tonga and Samoa think.

Best way is to develop local talent at grassroots, and dedicated international calander

'Still at All Blacks level': Israel Folau grabbed the headlines but 'lethal' teammate has Tonga dreaming

Rugby in the 80’s was a tin pot game played by amateurs sheen. It didn’t have the big money or wider audience or pay tv deals or merchandise sales or has today. And Campo didn’t hit many rucks nor could tackle.

Is it too late to reverse rugby's long decline?

Craig,

Your article is full of hyperbole and inaccurate stuff.

1)Simon Poidevin I don’t recall ever playing a night test vs the All Blacks at the SFS, don’t know where you got that claim from..

2)Where’s your proof rugby is worse off than other footy codes let alone on the decline in OZ?

Our junior wallabies did well at last under 20’s World Cup. We were not exactly thrashed on our end of season tour to UK(some hard luck often, the games could have gone either way, not to mention no Quade no Kerevi no Koribate).

We beat the world champion Boks this yr. And we have a good new tv deal.

Lots of spin Craig.

Is it too late to reverse rugby's long decline?

Your wrong NH fan.
And what are you saying? Your basically admitting P.I coaches will pick older players in there 30’s If they have the chance, your admitting then that coaches like experienced players , yet your trying to deny P.I coaches the chance to make disloyal experienced older flip floppers. Boo hoo to your youth policies and restraints of trade your trying to put on P.I coaches.

'I'm sure there'll be controversy': Kefu reveals Israel Folau's Test plans after World Rugby rule change

Yes and no.

It’s great for P.I nations, but I hope tier 1 playing for two is banned.

Quade Cooper technically is now eligible to play for the AB’s(he won’t get picked at aged 36 or 37), but world rugby shouldn’t allow that to happen or reject any applications for tier 1 players to play for another tier 1 nation Eg Dylan Hartley/Quade Cooper as examples…

It’s great for tier 2 nations though.

I think it’s harsh though that world rugby is now making under-20 national teams as a place you can get captured it seems now.

And You whinge about an article yet comment on it. If it was so irrelevant to you like you claim, you wouldn’t comment on it.

'Toxic': The way women are treated in rugby league must change

Both are social climbers who clearly like money$ and the limelight as opposed to the quiet life.

Phoebe makes good money as an Insta influencer, and Sam has done reality tv shows and media work for Fox sports. They clearly aren’t craving living quiet lives as nurses or taxi drivers or something.
