I agree with you pope, very well said mate

Cricket Australia's treatment of Michael Clarke has been disgraceful

The simple fact is that Michael Clarke is aging. His body has let him down on a number of occasions in the past twelve months and we have had a substitute captain.Smith is young, fit, hungry and capable as he has demonstrated this summer. No disrespect here for Michael Clarke’s ability but I think the Australian team is deserving of a full time captain and that appears to be something that he is unable to guarantee. He should relinquish the captaincy gracefully and Smith is the best man for that. Clarke is a very good batsman and continue to play as a batsman.

Cricket Australia's treatment of Michael Clarke has been disgraceful

I am glad to see cricket back on the agenda and minds of players and fans. Passing of Phil Hughes was absolutely horrendous and will leave a permanent scar and he will be remembered for ever. While Marsh’s form has been up and down in test cricket he seems one player in form in domestic cricket. Apart from Khwaja. While it would be fool hardy, I suspect Clarke will play even risking aggravating injury further. So Marsh will probably go back to Shield cricket.

Shaun Marsh added to Australia's Test squad for first Test

Khawjaa came back in the last shield game and his form in the matador cup cannot be ignored, our ODI team is full of batsman but we can find him room in the test side

It’s shame they haven’t gone with Khawaja. In good form from the matador cup and I feel ready to make an impact on Test match cricket. Marsh hasn’t had consistency when he has had the opportunities in the past and I feel the selectors might have missed a trick here as we have a world class 3 in Khawaja. All that being said good luck to Marsh if he plays, hopefully makes some runs

I don’t think Marsh will survive at the top, if he fails then bring in Khawaja who is a long term test star for us. I always said that both Hughes and Khawaja were the best young batsman we have and we made the mistake of not giving Hughes time in the middle and lets not make the same mistake with Khawaja. My thoughts are with the Hughes family, we miss him.

Truly sad day for cricket, he will be missed and our prayers are with his family

People just aren’t supposed to die playing cricket

Agreed, and great work by selectors in waiting to name the replacement for Clarke after the shield game. If Khawaja gets a big one this week then he will be picked but that is the same for eithe rHughes, Ferguson or Doolan. Marsh is at 30% throwing capacity so its a joke his name is even being put up

12-man Australian Test squad announced for India series

Khawjaa is back guys, named in tomorrows game against Tasmania and a big ask to fire in your first shield game but i wouldn’t put it past him as he was the best batsman by a mile in the one day domestic cup. Also i think its a good call not to pick Cummins yet for test matches. He’s a genuine wicket taker & can bowl very fast. But he’s come back after a string of injury lay offs at a very young age. My fear is that won’t it be a risk to play him in the longer format at this moment ? What if he gets injured ? Most importantly I feel we needs Cummins for the World Cup more than the tests vs Ind. Cummins can be a real threat in the WC. After the WC, Cummins can ease his way back into the test fold.

Agree 100% Ross

I think this might have been a case of West captain generating some publicity for his club, nothing more

Agreed DIngo, well said

I personally would have gone for Starc, but i can also see why Siddle was chosen

12-man Australian Test squad announced for India series

No i agree with Annum, don’t name a replacement when you haven’t had the last round of shield matches, Khawaja was in majestic form for matador and makes his comeback this round so he has his chance now to put his name up, Ferguson can show us he can score outside of Adelaide, good job selectors.

Burns, Khawaja and Cooper are all very good options, i just don’t like it when folks get picked on purely runs on Adelaide oval.

No Clarke but no surprises for the Gabba Test

Bearfax i think you are right, Burns and Khawaja will be competing for a test spot in the next shield game though i still think Khawaja is ahead given his OD form in matador cup

No Clarke but no surprises for the Gabba Test

Craig Surely Khawaja is ahead of White, he has nearly 1000 runs over the last 2 domestic seasons wit White at about 750

Balancing youth and experience in our World Cup squad

I think a fighting 50 from either Hughes or Ferguson would have cemented their spot in the upcoming test because its these type of runs we need not those on flat day 1 or 2 pitches in Adeliade though i rate both these guys highly

Siddle's 5fer a reminder to selectors

Faulkner is the best allrounder in ODI cricket in Australia. Agree with you on getting Khawaja in as cover if there is a injury

Balancing youth and experience in our World Cup squad

Hughes got 69 last week, he is not in entirely bad form

No Clarke but no surprises for the Gabba Test

Definitly 4 quicks against India best strategy and border said the same in smh article

No Clarke but no surprises for the Gabba Test

I would go for Vogues too. Problem with Ferguson is that all his runs this season come from flat adelaide pitches, i would have love it if he got runs on a day 4 of the game yesterday but he didn’t. But Hussey is a legend and i respect his opinion

No Clarke but no surprises for the Gabba Test

Chris i read today that Khawaja is training again with the bulls and if he scores a big ton in the coming 2 shield games he can be in the test squad and desrves his chance. Hopefully your man Hughes does well too in the coming shield games

Forget the captaincy, who will replace Clarke as a batsman?

Khawaja was played around by Arthur which ruined his confidence, now he looks like a new player and will do well at the top level
