Best football moment would be watching the 1964 GF replay of beating Essendon last year.

Didn’t the AFL raise the prices of tickets for blockbuster games by $20 or so? If that’s true, then that may helped keep people away. Not to mention that having that extra price is completely unfair to anyone who supports a popular team.

My foolproof plan to boost AFL's shocking crowds

you bulldogs fans must be a forgiving bunch 🙂

2013 AFL Grand Final live scores, blog – Hawthorn vs Fremantle

Who is left?

18 footy theme songs in 18 days: #3 'We're from Tigerland'

Eddie, you and Collingwood don’t own everything, and neither are you at the centre of the world. You should be happy that your team does probably the least travelling out of anyone in the league, at least.

Collingwood AFL boss fumes over rugby Test

I thought they were reconfiguring (or more correctly re-stuffing up) the fixture to make it easier for teams with a soft draw to make the finals, by splitting the league into three “groups” of six and playing with it from there, even having the possibility that two teams could play each other three times or not at all.

Solutions for the 2014 AFL fixture

That’s exactly what I was going to say, until I saw that you’d got in first 🙂

Geelong deserve a final at Simonds Stadium

Brisbane vs Collingwood was worse. I actually fell asleep.

Friday night and blockbuster timeslots must be shared

I’ve been wondering why they don’t get more. They are more exciting to watch than most other teams.

Friday night and blockbuster timeslots must be shared

I read that it was a “death or glory” battle between the EFC and the AFL. I wonder what will happen to the AFL (especially Demetriou) if Essendon wins.

The walls are caving in on James Hird

I thought that that was just for their new VFL team, but it would be nice if they changed it back to Footscray in the AFL as well.

Kevin Sheedy's Sydney legacy

You ARE taking the comment too literally. What I really want him to do is hang his head in shame and walk away from the club forever.

Giants break 2013 duck against Demons

I think that it’s in Canberra, because they’re wearing the Canberra jumper. If so, then I suppose the caption is correct!

Giants break 2013 duck against Demons

Peter, I apologise if I have caused offence, but I have seen the word on the Roar before, and the definition of it I was using was the complete domination and show of power over someone/thing, which was used by my English high school teacher several years ago.

Ian: Perhaps you’re right. After all, Davey is in the later years of his career, and very popular in Darwin when we go up there. The main issue with Adams is that, although he is very talented, he is like the rest of our list: young and inexperienced, which was a result of Neeld’s “shooting the generals” policy. I have heard that Carlton and Fremantle are interested in him.

Wow. What a disaster. From fury to last week to despair and frustration this week. What an awful season it has been. Raped by Essendon, slaughtered by North Melbourne and now thoroughly embarrassed by GWS. We have to be the worst team in the AFL. Weak as water. No wonder most of our supporters disappear to the snow during the season!

As a Melbourne supporter who will always love my club no matter what (even if it gets this frustrating), I do believe that we are heading in the right direction under Peter Jackson (and hopefully Neil Craig). However, I have several requests for the club:
1. Garry Lyon, would you please kindly hang yourself. This shambolic mess is your fault. Look at us now: no coach, no president, no sponsor (thank you Opel) and no ability to perform on field. Poor Jim Stynes.
2. Brian Royal, you are a useless midfield coach. Please submit your resignation by Monday morning.
3. Offer reduced price memberships. Take ten percent off or something.
4. Clear out many players from the list. At the first opportunity, de-list Gillies, Spencer, Dunn and Sellar (useless), Davey (a faithful servant to the club, but only plays one good game in four), Watts (no heart for the club, swap him for a good midfielder) and the jury’s still out on Sylvia.
5. Make Nathan Jones captain. He gives his heart and soul for the club every week.
6. We have got to fix even the most basic skills. Turnovers are a particular problem, as is running. Has anyone seen how slow we are when we move forward?
7. Do not ask Paul Roos to be coach next year. Like Jack Watts, he doesn’t want to be here.
8. Do not pick Tom Boyd. We have enough forwards already, and our defence is improving, especially with the addition of Clisby and Terlich. Get a midfielder instead.

We are the worst. We have hit rock bottom. Let’s take heart in that the only way is up!

GWS Giants vs Melbourne: AFL live scores, blog

The Coach of the Year Award goes to…MARK NEELD!…just joking. I’d probably say Ken Hinkley. If there was an award for the coach you feel most sorry for, I’d either say Neeldy or Brad/Chris Scott (whichever one coaches North).

Who is the AFL's coach of the year?

Even if we win the wooden spoon, there’s next to no chance we’ll take Boyd. Good luck Dees! Will be nice if we win!

Demons vs Giants for the Tom Scully Cup

Listened on the radio, kept track of stats on AFL app. I shouldn’t have bothered, really.

Winless AFL season won't faze Sheedy

Don’t worry Sheedy, you’re guaranteed a win over our lazy sods next week!

Winless AFL season won't faze Sheedy

Forgot to put in no respect for the red and blue jumper. Get 22 supporters on. They’ll get smashed, but at least they would show heart and would never give up.

Melbourne vs North Melbourne: AFL live scores

Weak and pathetic. All progress under Neil Craig has vanished in the blink of an eye. Put Casey on, they can’t be any worse. Or better still, since both the Dees and the cricket team are doing so badly, switch them around. Grimes would be a terrific opener. Blease would be a great fast bowler. Howe could jump in the air and take catches. And we could have Cowan as full forward and Watson in the ruck. It can’t be any worse!!!! God help us!

Melbourne vs North Melbourne: AFL live scores

Well hopefully it will be closer than last time.

Hawks, Bombers in clash to fit rivalry

Can’t wait until next year!

Hogan bags six in Casey's win over the Blues in the VFL

Whoever he is, could he kick sixty goals in a season and run out a match?

AFL the anchor on our global sporting success

Personally I find that football being almost exclusively an Australian sport is a good thing. We aren’t distracted by a World Cup and our clubs don’t have to go abroad and play foreign clubs like they do in soccer. If a player is traded, at least we will know where they have gone and we can boo them next time we play them (like Tom Scully!), rather seeing them go to play somewhere else around the world and perhaps never see them again. Leave the rest of the world to itself.
