Tiatto is still happy enough to come off the bench, so I very much doubt it’s a conspiracy against Franky’s old mates club. Likely the other three are looking long term and getting their careers on track…after what could be seen as a park football experience with the three departees playing below their potential for the sake of match day beers with Uncle Frank. Serota, Oar, Zullo et al were all Franky selections and they are putting their heads down getting on with things…at the Roar. Loyalty to your club and your own future ostensibly comes before signing for someone else amid ultimatums and political fallout.

Ange Postecoglu's guide to winning friends

Andy, Dario was deemed not good enough for the final Olyroos squad. James Troisi probably has had similar exposure to the Socceroos, yet apparently not up to scratch in Turkey regardless of his goals. Spiranovic has never been drafted into game day squad with any regularity, yet has similar club credentials. Meanwhile, Vidosic gets some token time to play for Socceroos in the last few games, locking him into Australia. He’s on the bench for both games this last week, without much of a mention from the media or Pim, who has Love child Holman on the bench in Melbourne, older, more experienced, similarly club hardened attacker midfielder-cum-striker, who Pim ALWAYS plays, i mean ALWAYS. Now in Melbourne Dario gets a run as an attacker when we are CHASING the game. Since when has Pim let Dario in the inner sanctuary?? Since when is Holman on the outer of this Dutch, Feyenoord old boys club?? I must have missed it. It was “different”…it was a risk, in my opinion…and it’s just UNLIKE Pim to have put him on. OK, I am going to leave this bone of contention alone now. I have chewed it a sloppy pulp and my jaw is starting to hurt. Well done Dario, and Pim. I hope this is the beginnning of something.

Qatar dream alive, but much to do ahead of South Africa

If Chris Coyne get get picked up from Colchester, Burns should get a gig from AEK reserves. But Pim probably doesn’t think we have a problem in the midfield. Hopefully from his spectator’s view on last night’s game, it should be pretty clear that there is room for changes. Vidosic was out of the blue. Maybe the signs are there that a shake up is on it’s way. But Pip has planted that seed in my head, and its a dangerous dream to dream. I would cry in absolute relief if indeed his “experimenting” ways have merely reached phase two.

Please don’t compare Marchinho with Cahill. At least Cahill has ability to warrant the imperious confidence he has on the park. Pip, you don’t like Timmy. Just move on. He has saved our bacon on many, many occasions. Accept it, he’s a star footballer for the Socceroos, we are not. Good on him, and thanks to the Samoans and the Irish for creating him in our Country!!

Ok, I get what you are saying… Vidosic was IN on the strength of his first two appearances and possibly club form. Possibly his performances at training. He has pushed out Holman. I would like to believe it Pip, seriously. But I am sensing an experiment, we shall both see in the months to come. And I am not against Dario’s age, to be honest I think Nathan Burns should be getting a gig with the ‘Roos as well. I just can’t stomach this Coach any longer. And Holman, well my thoughts on Holman are best left for the toilet wall. But Verbeek is in charge, and his love affair with Holminho is legendary.

At work….do you lie to the public and/or share holders? It’s bs yeah, but it’s also poor ethics. In a must win game he puts a 21 year old on to help chase THE goal to, essentially, save the campaign from disaster. It was a gamble, and probably a test for Dario for the world cup squad i reckon. In fact I am not sure Pim really was bothered about winning that game last night…otherwise Holman would have come on, surely! It really is perplexing that Vidosic was even on the bench after the “No experimentation” bs was sold to us.

It’s not just social awareness, Pip. It’s family ties.

Actually just watched the game again…. the Omanni dived…pretty much no contact. Ref let a lot go last night, too. Consistent and fair decision, the omani probably lucky he did not get a yellow for simulation. Yes, i was pretty shocked at the second look, but it was a dive!

I for one was wee distressed when the goon Arnold left him out of the Olyroos in china. BUT I do not accept that Vidosic is the next in line to Bresciano. Because if Bresc was available, he would have come on in his place – that is Verbeek’s current form. Even Holman would have been Verbeek’s modus operandi. BUT Vidosic?? If it feels like, and sounds like and looks like an Experiment..it probably is. I certainly like the lad Dario, and he is showing great promise..but Verbeek is full of bs.

Woah. He’s probably thinking “Out of my way mate, i am paying tribute to tens of thousands of Pacific islanders messed up by the tsunami”. Yeah, he’s selfish ; /

I agree. The Roar board have rocks in their head. Or we do, to believe that they asked his “permission”.

Farina case exposes football's roar mentality

So much for Pim not experimenting anymore. Vidosic gets a run at 68th minute at nil all. I am glad he did, as Valeri went off and Wilky went in the centre…. but what’s with the statement about not “experimenting”? Is that code for no Carle (or perhaps no Holman??pllleeeeaasssee). Go figure.

Apparently Frank stipulates that it was his first DUI whilst contract to the Roar. See the Red column article posted. Still, in light of the Roar’s challenges and recent degneracy…I’d say it shows a man not having his heart in the job.

Oman coach claims insult from Socceroo official

The week of a very important game (Roar have been slipping for a few weeks now)…and against your derby team, with a lot fresh faces in the game day squad. And he got toasted the night before the game??? Surely save it to the night AFTER the game, WHEN you win it. No sympathy Frank.

Fantastic write up, Tony. Finally the right Brett was on the park. I agree about the predictability. Not surprisingly the goal came from some basic driving into the box. Perhaps caught the Omani’s by shock, lol.

Harden up Princess.

No one likes you Frank. Get the drift? Take some responsibility for your perception. Oh, that’s right…your just a victim. Get what your legally entitled to, like Con at the Jets over the GVE debacle…. but will that cover the costs of dragging Roar and the game further into the gutter? Your reputation tarnished? You seem to be doing a good job of that yourself with each passing day. Everyone knows the FFA want you out. I don’t blame them, though I question their method. But you are making it worse for yourself. The way this is going you will become remembered for all the wrong reasons.

I was made a scapegoat, says Farina

Lots has changed over the last 10 to 15 years. As much as Brisbane could be viewed as a League town, and Queensland whole hearted support of SoO, the grass roots (especially in the secondary schooling system) is Rugby Union. Amateur Clubs create a link for young adolescents. Queensland Reds get reasonably good support, for a national league that competes head on with League season. Sydney is far more localised geographically from what i have gathered.

West Sydney franchises need to find star power

Yeah, the more I ponder it, the analogy to BrisRoar is not that accurate. Sydney FC and Sydney Rovers may be only slightly geographically distinct. They are both still “Sydney”. And Brisbane and Gold Coast are probably geographically and culturally far more identifiably recognisable.

West Sydney franchises need to find star power

Is Sydney the ARU’s heartland? I always thought Brisbane and Canberra shared the mantle for Union’s lifeblood.

Thanks for airing the linen, Mike. As Football fans we can take the reality of the situation.

I think the mainstream market (the ordinary folk who occasionally read the drivel the code receives in the papers and on TV) have given Football a fair go by now, as the media soils itself in it’s rather un-ethical handling of the other code’s misfortunes over the last decade. Thankfully the Socceroos went through their phoenix like rebirth and did so well in Germany’s World Cup.

I trust the ordinary folk can see this for what it is, regardless how agenda-driven outlets “use” this new ammunition.

Whilst it is regrettable that some youth can’t distinguish trivia from reality, it is hardly knuckle dusters and group sex. I think the Australian public are wise enough to see the difference in intent and maliciousness. The real problem here is the Police ineptness, imo. And this is a national problem, and covers all codes, too.

A-League boneheads need a new hobby

Palace. What a crap start to the season. I bet Nicky (and Warnock) are counting down the days to the next transfer window. Seriously.

Carle's brokedown Palace

Verbeek not fazed by 3-1 loss

Not serious…so maybe 2 weeks i am guessing. Read it in a recent post match article. Re: long throws, it is a bit like long balls. We have talent on the ground AND in the air. Losing possession in the air can be worse than from the ground… and the opposition needs to be in two minds with the long throw use. Good to have in the game, but better to use it more wisely.
