Your assesment of their backs is fair, however Simonsonsen is actually not to bad and has some nice games in 2023. No team is without their flaws

Eels back in the swim for 2024 or heading up the river? Why they will and won't make the finals

Disagree Albo their pack depth is great Joe O, Ogden has been great in trials and Greig has superstar potential. Matterson former NSW player and Kelma Tuliga ( watch be another Brad Arthur redemption story like Paplaii, Browne, Nikoure, Lane, Cartwright and Hopgood). Their backline is skinny in depth and probably can only survive one injury in the backs. They are a really good team and can win it all .

Unless there is proof of Spencer saying it , he should miss a game of be fined. These are serious allegations and need evidence to prove it.

NRL unpopular opinions ahead of season 2023

Wow the comments. are quite incredible true passion of sporting fans.

What is Australia's most popular sport?

Brisbane fastest growing city in Australia, NRL will add another team as 17 teams hard to work with Perth likely next team.

What is Australia's most popular sport?

There is a key difference between most popular and most passionate , passionate fans will save up money, travel distance brave weather to watch a game. Popular is simple terms is what draws most attention .
Also Kayo is $25 a month much cheaper then going to a game .

What is Australia's most popular sport?

Also AFL has 4 quarters compared to 2 halves in NRL . They both have ads on FTA after a try or goal but the difference is there is more goals in a game then NRL games may 4-7 trys while AFL will have 20-25 goal hence more chances for ads.

What is Australia's most popular sport?

I know many people who cannot afford to go to game have kids doesn’t make them any less passionate its just they don’t have the means now days with cost of living increasing its even harder . Attendance also show fans of people living nearby where it is easier to attend as there are fans who live 100s if kms who cant make games yet watch their team on tv.
State Of Origin is like an all-star game but where players are doing their best to win plus the passion and history. QLD have a chip on their shoulder as NSW used to make their best players play for them.

What is Australia's most popular sport?

Maybe its the NRL not getting their true worth Peter V’Landys needs to do better.

What is Australia's most popular sport?

I say attendance are not the best indicator as people who live nearby the stadiums can only make games if you live hour away or more you cant make the games most of the time, also it is not cheap when you factor in fuel, parking, tickets, drinks etc so many people probably cannot afford go to game and instead watch on tv.
Also these stats are for average viewers
When I say State Of Origin is one of the biggest spectacles is based on the fact it sells out in AFL states and 9m people tuned into the series.

What is Australia's most popular sport?

I wrote this article to give the audience a snapshot of the sporting landscape here not a hit piece directed purely on football . I am not sure how you viewed this as an assault against football I did mention some positive point about and also some obvious truths, about the current state at the moment. Funny thing is I brought to light negatives of many sports yet it seems football fans seemed to take umbrage the most. My article was not here to outline what sport is most entertaining or of higher quality as that is subjective and will vary depending who you ask, but what is most popular.
I always intended doing this article but needed to wait until end of year where all stats are available and all major sporting events for 2022 in Australia are over, its not my fault FIFA awarded the World Cup to a nation that was so hot it had to be moved to December

What is Australia's most popular sport?

I did look at those statistics and they don’t compare to NRL or AFL.

What is Australia's most popular sport?

Not sure what you mean by that. I did say rugby league is Australia’s most popular sport. I agree especially in Western Sydney a bench NRL player will get more recognition then any GWS player.

What is Australia's most popular sport?

There are like 5 Test matches in a year hard to compare with NRL AFL BBL as not enough sample size.

What is Australia's most popular sport?

Hey Andrew,
Thanks for your response.
Of course certain NRL/AFL athletes will be more noticeable then cricket players but what I am meaning is if you asked 1000 people frol every state in Australia to name as many NRL AFL and Cricket players as possible more cricket players be named.
I didn’t really consider horse racing a sport as it’s mostly the horse doing the physical work. But yes soccer is similar how they have a core group of fans but majority of population just watch when a bjg race or tournament is on.

What is Australia's most popular sport?

If you make playing rugby league more attractive to younger players like 100k wage plus free Uni more parents willing to let kids play and we will have increase in talent pool. Don’t see why NRL Draft wont be cool viewing at the end of the year, it gives you hope if your team is sruggling.

The six changes the NRL must implement

I find it funny that the article for the North Sydney Bears who won 2 premierships and existed for 90 years had less comments and views then the South Queensland Crushers article who had been in league for 3 years wining 2 wooden spoons.

South Queensland Crushers best team ever

All because I offer an opinion with arguments that are true and you yet try to debunk instead just make up a bias towards Manly. If I said Trbojevic season was better than Hayne I will get Eels fans saying I am biased, you say you laughed during the entire article my first reaction was maybe I should pursue a career in comedy, my second reaction was kind of expected that not attacking the article or offering ant counter-arguments but the integrity of the author.

The suggestion Turbo had one of the best individual seasons ever couldn’t be further from the truth

I think Barba 2012 and Trbojevic 2021 will be an interesting comparisons as well. Hasler coached both players keen to see what he thinks?

The suggestion Turbo had one of the best individual seasons ever couldn’t be further from the truth

It has nothing to with what playing style I prefer, the block play and sweep plays are more of a result of team effort and coaching, while Hayne most of the time be one making linebreaks, chip, and chase or beating a defender then getting an offload to set up a try is more of the individual, context matters, not numbers necessarily. If you want numbers without context Alex Johnston scored more tries this year than Trbojevicc so he had a better season? Or Ryan Papenhuyzen has won a Grand Final and Trojevic has not so does that make Papenhuyzen better than Trbojevic. I don’t support Eels or Manly as I stated I much prefer Trbojevic as a person but you have to look at each try and try to assist on its merits. You really counting a try Trbojevic scored against Souths wh here just backing up as a support player when the game was over and Souths stopped trying ?

The suggestion Turbo had one of the best individual seasons ever couldn’t be further from the truth

His try against Penrith was an intercept and try against Souths in Prelim was backing up in support when game was over and Souths admitted they stopped trying to avoid injuries. Once again majority of his try assists where you are simply more about great team play and all involved doing their part. Is throwing the last pass to a unmarked winger where the set play is what caused the overlap. Sure some passes require skill and Turbo had that but just rattling of stat’s with no context is misleading.

The suggestion Turbo had one of the best individual seasons ever couldn’t be further from the truth

I mentioned more to pay homage and outline great seasons of Smith, Lockyer, and Sterlo. Phil Gould stated is he could he would have had all his teams in a bubble as they just focus and playing and have distractions.
No way the 2009 Eels forward pack was better Nathan Hindmarsh was more of a workhorse than didn’t offer in attack, Nathan Cayless was past his best, Todd Lowrie, Ben Smith, rookie Tim Mannah are anything special only FuiFui MoiMoi was damaging that year. While Manly has Martin Tapau, the young talented trio of ‎Haumole Olakau’atu, Josh Schuster, Tanelia Paeseka, plus Jake Trbojevic.
Of course, it’s all subjective, but what isn’t is that Hayne did manage to beat to topsides and only a cheating Storm side stopped him from winning the GF.

The suggestion Turbo had one of the best individual seasons ever couldn’t be further from the truth

I did say it’s unfair to compare Trbojevic to Sterling, Smith and Lockyer and not a fair comparison. That’s why I made a deeper analysis of his and Jarryd Hayne 2009 season. It’s unfair to compare Trbojevic orgin to Hayne as was playing against the greatest Origin sides ever played while Trbojevic NSW team was far superior. I remember Mal Mengina saying Hayne was the only NSW player that would of made those dominant Qld teams.
