The ball should be immediately available as when it goes to ground it becomes a ruck. Players must release ball, tacklers must release the ball carrier and roll away.
What happens is the ref blows the whistle to fast and awards a scrum the moment the maul drops. The ref should wait 20 seconds, see if the players follow the laws applied to rucks and then blow their whistle.
I could be wrong in my interpretation of the laws but that is how I read them.

Hahahaha… thanks for the giggle.

That is how the NRC should look

Don’t work KD… I am dumber for reading this article too

Designing the Bledisloe Super Bowl

Can you see a French club that will hang a contract over the head of a PI player to not represent their county allow them to take an extra break?

The global season: Who wins a contest of good intentions versus self interest?

Thought about that too… but what happens then is players will need more break/rest time and that will come out of club time.
That is my thought process anyway

The global season: Who wins a contest of good intentions versus self interest?

I think that pressure comes from the club competitions.moving the 6 nations in anyway will mean they must move the club seasons. Applying a global focus on the international game will also mean that the players who don’t get released, should be released and are released for international duty who are no 6 nation players might have the same rights to go play for their countries as the home nations do. Clubs pay big $$ for players who will be there during the 6 nations break and don’t bugger off to play for their country.

The global season: Who wins a contest of good intentions versus self interest?

You nailed it with the “2 halves” season. We can do this because super rugby does not run as long as European leagues.
The Aussie and SA teams don’t want to be playing in the middle of summer and the clubs in Europe want their players.Tricky conundrum we We have here.
No matter what happens ensuring access to players will be The key everyone. Clubs pay the salaries and internationals bring in the coin for the unions.

The global season: Who wins a contest of good intentions versus self interest?

The only way a global season works is if the SH teams move to align with the North. They have the money and money is power.

The global season: Who wins a contest of good intentions versus self interest?

A PI team could be a gateway for them to get to Europe Or Japan. This keeps them being developed in the region where they can be capped internationally more easily with their home country. If more PI players are capped before they make the run for the money in Europe or Japan The stronger those PI teams will be and less will be wearing a six nations jersey.

The future of SANZAAR

I’m somewhat of a fan of super rugby being played in conferences. However the conferences need to consist of the same number of teams or it dilutes the product. You don’t want excuses as to why one country does not win over another. If SA have 7 teams they they will have a hissy fit as to why they don’t win because their teams are weaker than NZ who still only have the original 5.
3 or four conferences of 6 teams each where the top 2 from each conference qualify for finals. SA have their full 6 teams back, Australia bring back the force and keep the sun puppies, NZ add a PI team and Argentina sort out some sort of America’s conference – 2 x Argie teams and some others from north and South America to fill in the blanks. (Bring in at least 1 yank and 1 Canadian team will interest the sponsors)
Like mentioned above by someone else in the comments, you can’t have a National comp followed by something else then back to another national comp. super rugby Is about the best payers not the best teams from a club comp. Play local home and away derbies for the fans and then Into a knockout Format for finals. Simple and gets the job done.

The future of SANZAAR

What are the rules these days for Aus teams to have foreign internationals playing in their sides?
I personally would love to see 5 super rugby sides from Aus and NZ out there with each team have a good Sprinkle international players (mainly PI lads). Would add to that legitimacy of the comp me rekons

The Wallabies should ban Hockings and Lucas for life

I’m hoping we don’t see much more of Hodge in a WBs Jersey. Over rated and lost his shot to be a specialist at any position thanks to Cheika

Why the Wallabies need their big winger back

He was the best attacking and counter attacking winger in Aus for a couple of years. Each time a WBs side was announced without him I shook my head in disbelief and wondered if I was only seeing him through my maroon tinted glasses.
He is the reason my son and I support Bristol… live watching him run and I’m glad Cheika did not ruin his career.

Why the Wallabies need their big winger back

RW…
Boks play a different style of game to the wallabies. Bash bash bash and then chuck it to the elusive back three to work some magic. And boy do those wingers produce some magic.

Why the Wallabies need their big winger back

The Pumas (I mean jags) are done… with travel restrictions there is no conference at present for them to play in unless they pack up and move to SA for the season and that is not financially sound.

SANZAAR fighting a losing Super Rugby battle on two fronts

I’m sure if they moved the office from Bondi junction to anywhere else it would save them a few Bob.

SANZAAR fighting a losing Super Rugby battle on two fronts

Hockings is a good young player in my opinion. He should get snapped up pretty quickly by an Aus team.
You also mentioned Lucas is getting the QC treatment… has he been playing up or is it just that he is the size of a high schooler?

I think that can stand a player down without pay for various reasons… I doubt they can for a player refusing to take a pay cut.

Reds trio refuse to take pay cut, stood down by QRU

This is a contract written for rugby in Australia… if we look back at past contract disputes and the payouts RA have had to make I’m sure this will be no different.
I highly doubt a contract has a clause in there about being able stand down a player for not taking a pay cut.

Reds trio refuse to take pay cut, stood down by QRU

I have a feeling this is going to cost RA and the QRU a lot more.
This will wind up in court no doubt

Reds trio refuse to take pay cut, stood down by QRU

Yep… Shute sheild should replace the super rugby sides. Because as a reds fan I really want to have no other option but to support a Sydney team

A win-win rugby calendar for Australia and Japan… including weight-restricted Tests?

The reds and the Tahs were strong in the South Pacific comp as that was all Australia had. I think they say 85% of Aus rugby talent comes from Qld and NSW so with ACT, VIC and the force diluting the player pool of course we were better.
Look at SA… they wanted a 6th team And wow… those Kings make the sun puppies look like world beaters.

South Africa brings a lot to Super Rugby – just not enough

The only thing GRR is good for is showing RA what a bit of cash can do.
Shut that crap down, get twiggy onboard with the force to make super rugby a trans Tasman and PI comp (bye bye SA) and help make the wallabies great again.
Money talks and twiggy has a lot of it. RA needs to be on their knees with him and working with him and his force… not against him running separate comps. But that will require someone in RA to admit they made a huge mistake in cutting the force.

Why the Waratahs and the Reds should be axed from Super Rugby

While more kiwis playing super rugby is good for the kiwis… less Aussies playing super rugby is not good for Australian rugby. RA would have to loosen up the ability for teams to play foreign players otherwise they will only have 2 kiwis per side which does not suit your argument.
Now if RA says teams can have more foreign players,Teams will stack their squads with more and more foreign players and The wallabies will be dust.
