Anyone is iffy under the high ball if you get your kick chase team close enough to the defender while Mansour’s defence in 2016 has improved on previous years. Is far more selective with the offload in 2016 as well.
At least we have someone on the wing who will provide the grunt when coming off their own try line as well.
Mansour realises Origin dream
Trent Merrin’s 2016 stats show he has been a consistent footballer per previous years so not sure where that comment is coming from.
Moylan’s per game stats in 2016 particularly in line break assists / try assists compare well to Coote so I’m comfortable with that selection.
The big losers from NSW's Origin team announcement
Not my headline – injuries was only a minor part of the reason Penrith lost – as the article says both sides had their share of interruptions during the game
Taylor the real deal as injuries prove costly for Penrith
Wow I reckon I’m half a chance to get MOTM against the patched up kiddy filled Newcastle Knights – that was a great effort from them if anything to lose by just 8
Taylor the real deal as injuries prove costly for Penrith
Said both teams would score more than 20 but didn’t see the final five minutes coming the way it did thou. A dropped bomb and a botched field goal attempt / dropped ball
Will the Titans thwart Penrith’s golden chance to win three in a row?
Well we are in the eight, and we skipped out to a lead and Canberra made a comeback – just a bit more of a comeback than anticipated but should have known better from the cardiac kids.
Can Penrith square the ledger in the golden west?
I think the two games Penrith played against Brisbane & North Qld were also high quality games – btw aren’t the Sharks in their 50th year now?
This is Cronulla's best team in years and it still won't be good enough
Hate to see someone like Mansour miss out for a country hopper
Radradra, Gallen in Mal's first Test side
As a footnote I’ll say Yeo had a brilliant game yesterday against top opposition and his versatility on both sides of the field makes him an ideal candidate for Country Origin.
Yeo eyes Country Origin jersey as battle for forward spots intensifies at Penrith
And if it wasnt for an off day in the goalkicking department you would have been outgrinded as the scoreline suggests given it was 4 tries to 3′. Faboulous duel between Gallen and Merrin both getting thru 80 minutes and producing over 200 meters and 40 plus tackles.
Merrin: Get Cronulla into the grind and we'll get the job done
I’m guessing a sigh of relief with Soward having a bad day with the boot?
Merrin: Get Cronulla into the grind and we'll get the job done
Yet Penrith were less then ten minutes away from defeating both grand finalists?
Merrin: Get Cronulla into the grind and we'll get the job done
Last year he lacked confidence on the back of little pre-seaosn preparation and it showed. But this year he looks to getting better. My main concern has been his level of involvement in game but he showed some great signs against the Roosters and it might just be a game-changer in this young man’s NRL career.
Waqa Waqa! Blake's blistering form no joke
I was amazed given the success that they had when they did target the left on Monday night, that they went so heavily down Penrith’s right edge.
Panthers vs Roosters: It's time for points, not credibility
As much as it pains me Lachlan Coote was MOTM tonight – 2 try assists (+1 for Penrith lol) + the all important FG but two try savers on Josh Mansour – no mean feat on the NRL’s number one winger atm
Penrith Panthers vs North Queensland Cowboys highlights: Cowboys outdo Panthers
Do you think he’s gone a bit quiet since that debut thou Daniel?
Griffin's selection headache could come sooner rather than later
Will come down to how Griffin feels about Te Maire Martin’s progress so far I think
Griffin's selection headache could come sooner rather than later
I think he has been getting better each week – going to be a tough Kiwi test team to break into thou
Two-try Watene-Zelezniak says he is yet to hit top form
well second week in a row called it correctly and out by just 1 point on the margin
Will the Panthers rope in the Cowboys?
Josh Mansour in 2016:
3 tries
941m (avg 188m)
86 runs (avg 17) @ 10.94m per run
20 tackle breaks
6 line-breaks
3 offloads
87.5% tackle efficiency
But alas everyone wants to name Trobjovic on their wing and yet again snub Penrith in SOO
Parramatta Eels vs Penrith Panthers highlights: Panthers win on the siren
Agreed – needs to be more selective instead of speculative with his offloads. It will come with experience. Also agree defence needs to improve – makes the odd bad read & misses too many tackles for my liking as a back-row forward so far this year.
Panthers lament another heartbreaking loss as Dragons prevail
So Peta Hiku dropping the ball ten metres out on the attack vs Canberra was Soward’s fault? So Trent Merrin missing the kickoff vs St George was the result of Soward’s poor general kicking game? Puhlease
Matt Moylan is the four points Panthers have missed
Came down to goal-kicking this game in the end. Definitely would have been a courageous win minus Cartwright for 40 minutes but not to be.
Dragons, Panthers aim for back-to-back wins
What is it with Canberra folk ? They still don’t wish anything well for the mighty Panthers (let go of 1991 kiddies – don’t be that Laurie Daley or Gary Belcher)
The Roar's NRL expert tips and predictions: Round 4
Definitely stiff ultra consistent for Penrith this year as with the STI in previous years. Players wlll tell you he has been the most consistent Panther this year
