This is great news. I have always been a big supporter of Fisher. The wallabies improved their breakdown work in the short period he was with them. The clown really set us back with his league appointments.

You look to the Chiefs, Hurricanes and Blues forward pack and they are all big athletic, muscular guys. Compare that to our guys at the Reds, Brumbies and Waratahs and our guys look chubby and much less muscular. It’s no surprise when the kiwi teams play pick and go they make much more meters, compared when our teams do it. Get some big units in the team instead of those private school boys.

10 isn’t the problem. Our forward pack didn’t get us forward momentum and our kick chase was dreadful. Set piece is the bread butter of test rugby. Win that and you have a chance but when you don’t win scrums you are going backwards.

There is no 10 in the world who can perform when your forwards go backwards on skates. Cooper was at the base for the first try. We need to get find a front row who can scrum. Frost, Skelton, T. Hooper and Valetini are fine as the forward pack.

I was one of the first here to advocate for Gleeson for the Wallabies. 8 Gleeson, 6 Valetini and Latu as the hooker and we have a nucleus of good physical ball carriers in the tight. Test rugby is about physicality and tight play. My reds team have recruited awfully the last few seasons.

The two games we won last year against the Boks consisted of a backrow of Swinton, Hooper and Valetini and the locks were Rodda and Phillip. Those 5 players were physical and gave the backs a platform and LQB. We had Cooper and Kerevi as the 10 and 12 which helped with the playmaking. Tom Hooper and Gleeson should go the NH tour. I have seen Tom Hooper outplay a lot of AB players this season. Wilson is out of his depth at this level. No leg drive whatsoever from him.

I was fuming and ranting but calmed a bit down now. That was a shambles of a decision. That ref should be suspended. The first time in 100 years time wasting has been penalised and he suddenly decides to make a decision like this. How many times have we seen teams doing this. Watch the English series and in one of the games they wasted 1 minute in the 78/79th minute.

It’s time to add a rugby league defence coach to the Wallabies coach staff. Ireland have Farrell who has a RL background, France with Edwards, Seibold with England and Kidwell with Los Pumas it’s clear the defensive RL patterns have improved those teams.

Quade was the only one last week who looked dangerous when he had the ball. Australia has only one good 10 and his name is Quade. I would try Donaldson at this moment.

I have said numerical times we select players to play the wrong game plan. Those players aren’t suited to play ball in hand. They make too many mistakes for that. You select a lot of Brumbies players who play a percentage game which is all about territory and applying pressure in the 22 of the opposition. Watch all the Brumby games and White is playing contestable kicks which forces errors. Argentina basically played the Brumbies style of game which is ironic considering the Brumbies players in the team.

Peter is right. Do you really think we have enough players in the current team who can say to Hooper we need to change it. There are two and one of them is QC as I have seen him doing it at the Reds. He was the one communicating with his IC, forwards and backs which moves to do or kick for territory. Kerevi is the other.

It did suit our game in the past when we had the cattle. I don’t see it personally at this moment. To play in a structured way with short distances between the two pods of three needs a lot of time of coaching which we don’t have at international level. Ireland play this way in their domestic competition. They have already thirteen players from the same team which helps with cohesion and knowing where each other are.
Kick chase, play territory and apply pressure on the opposition to force mistakes is the game we should play.
Why it's a long and winding road back to the Australian way
The rugby community in western Australia looks to be more enthusiastic about the game than in Melbourne. They really could improve if they get some rebels players for next season. Especially in the forwards. Their attack looked good in the games I have watched, but they just lacked the physicality upfront.
