The salary cap is a good point, and one I failed to mention but should have. You’re right, you can’t have him as a back up on 400 or 500k
In the interests of the Knights, Kurt Gidley should step down
I didn’t mean to suggest that Gidley was the sole reason the Knights had dropped of the perch, but he is definitely not the player he used to be, and I think not knowing where to put him has become a problem for the team.

Maxwell’s bowling isn’t anywhere near where it would need to be to usurp Lyon as the main spinner. That said, I’d love to see O’Keefe get a crack in the future
Who makes Australia’s XI for the first Ashes Test in England 2015?
Agree completely mate. Corey Parker could never win a Dally M, but he was RLW player of the year last season. I believe Nathan Hindmarsh won it twice! It rewards consistency over flashiness
Sam Burgess will win the Dally M before leaving NRL
They are not fact, just somebody else’s opinion (that’s why the website called it ‘our’ Dally M Count). Voting is behind closed doors currently.

Gidley is still a pretty good player, but I think his continued presence has been part of why the Knights have struggled recently. They have to play him somewhere because he’s the captain, but he just doesn’t fit. He’s not a good enough fullback to usurp Boyd, not a good enough half to replace Mullen or Roberts, and I would never call him a hooker (maybe a decent makeshift dummy half). He should move on soon
How do players know when it’s time to go?
If Cowboys make the finals, you’re probably right, Thurston will get the points. He is always the difference between a win and loss for NQ. But the Cowboys have some tough games ahead and are not certainties
Sam Burgess will win the Dally M before leaving NRL
Certainly not perfect, I agree, but probably the most impressive forward I’ve seen in recent years (although I love watching James Graham play as well).
And I agree in terms of his rugby position, I think he’s really going to struggle to find his way there. He has the right build for a league forward, and his play works for our game. He certainly won’t transform into a union centre as seamlessly as SBW managed to do.

Perhaps the fact that these young guys all came through juniors together will keep them loyal to the club, similar to the way Croker, Fensom, Waddell and the other players from Canberra’s 2008 NYC team (Dugan excepted, obviously) are still in the capital. I hope for the Tigers sake that they do.
Tigers the team to watch in 2015
Agree with Pope Paul. Cook is only 29, and was at one time one of the best batsmen in the world. It could be time for him to take a full break from the game, get his head straight, and then come back as a batsman. Give a younger bloke the captaincy (probably Broad with Root as vice) and shake up the team a bit.
England need changes to stay competitive
Yes I think concussion would be the biggest issue, since the long term consequences are still unknown and appear much later on
An insurance proposal for the NRL
It is true that Rugby League Week invented the Immortals concept and are still in charge of it. I agree that there are definitely some flaws in the concept as a whole, including biases and inevitable subjectivity. Cheers!
"Future Immortal": League's most overused term cheapens the honour
A lot of people seem to be forgetting that the Eels managed to make the 2009 decider entirely on the back of Hayne brilliance, and even then only lost to a Storm side laster stripped of the title. Warriors also surprised with their 2011 GF run. Finals are a whole different game….especially these days where the comp is so close
