Not sure if I agree with you there Bob, if only because it’s a tough thing to compare. Despite his great start I’d be seriously surprised if Mooy manges to replicate the figures he got last year at City (not that goals and assists are the defining metric), but I’d love to be proven wrong!

Too true Buddy, though he spent a bit of time north of the border at St Mirren earlier in his career so maybe that’ll stand him in good stead. Had a bit more hair back then though!

I was in that stand you’re talking about mate and the atmosphere was hardly great. Quiet for the majority of the match aside from a good showing from the Panthers fans around us (was in the Bulldogs end). Not helped by a fair few Bulldogs fans leaving with 20+ minutes to go.

Seems a real shame that the stadium was only half full for a finals mach.

Thoroughly enjoyed the game itself though, as did my girlfriend who hadn’t been to a match in years.

Saw the same thing. Lot of the fans on there seem absolutely over the moon with him – which is totally understandable. Won’t hurt him at all to be playing a little deeper, especially if he’s doing such a great job there.

Absolutely. Guessing he won’t be free to leave til the Summer window if he’s on a season long loan though.

Not taking away from his time at City Franko – he obviously killed it there, and wouldn’t be where he is now if he hadn’t.

It does seem ridiculous, especially in World Cup/Euro/Copa years. It only feels like yesterday that the Premier League season finished, yet here we are two weeks away from the season openers.

I know the pre-season friendlies are so important to revenue/the building of brands, but I wouldn’t shed a tear if they scrapped the lot of them and gave the players a longer holiday. Are they even beneficial to player fitness and preparation?

Is the schedule of modern day football too hectic?

6 million pounds does seem like an awful lot for a player with Smith’s limited experience, even in this crazy market. Though there seem to be suggestions among Bournemouth fans that Mings’ future may lie in central defense – which might explain their desire for new blood which would be good news for Smith.

Brad Smith on the verge of Bournemouth switch

This whole striker situation has been bloody frustrating, especially given the cryptic remarks from Jack towards the end of last season re. Batshuayi. I have total faith in the Dave’s and their ability in the transfer market, but part of me wishes they would keep everything under wraps until we’ve actually got someone coming in.

Yedder could be the perfect puzzle piece for West Ham

I like your optimism, but do you really think we can crack 7 again? I have no doubt that we’ll be in and around there, but it would still be quite an effort.

Agreed in relation to the Euros mate. The tempo and attacking intent have been vastly superior in the Copa by comparison (well in the matches I’ve seen at least).

Can Argentina banish finals curse in the Copa America?

According to FIFA it will be Chile after last years win, which seems fair enough.

Chile book Copa final rematch with Argentina

Would love to see him win a major tournament. Surely he’ll make sure it’s third time lucky! Though best of luck to Chile – love their passion and their style! Also seems slightly unfair that they might lose their title as holders after just a year.

Chile book Copa final rematch with Argentina

Agreed on Argentina winning it, though I wouldn’t be surprised if Chile scores first.

Agree that the diversity of nations definitely makes the tournament better, and the more matches the better right?

But I don’t think your defense of Slovakia holds up at all. There was only one team trying to win the game in the second half once it became clear that Russia was out. Made for a pretty awful game (not discounting England’s dour efforts in the final third). I mean fair play to them for their defensive effort, but having 16 of the 24 teams qualifying for the next round is hardly going to inspire much urgency or excitement.

Compare that to some of the final group games in the Copa and you can see the problem with rewarding mediocrity.
