Hawks aren’t that bad, but they lack young top end talent as have avoided the draft. Can see them rising back up the ladder but not as a serious contender for some years. If you are looking to trade out Mitchell then that would suggest the club is factoring another 2 years down the bottom and no finals for some time.

How the Hawks are planning their return to relevance

Can Collingwood afford to let Pendles go. In a rebuild you still need to keep some experience around. Crows are a good example of the older guys leading the way and letting the younger ones tag along and develop at the same time.

More Collingwood carnage, no easy answers after Buckley's departure

Given coaches are meant to be good tacticians it amazes me how many hang on and diminish their achievements instead of stepping back for a break at their own timing. In Buckley’s case the drop off has happened quickly but there are other current coaches that would do well to take a break. Both Simpson and Clarkson seem to be treading water at their current club. And if they took a break for a couple of years would come back better and have their choice of jobs. Right now the Collingwood job would be Brad Scott’s if he wants it.

If Law was playing now he would be the Australian Captain. That’s how weak our batting stocks are compared to his era.

Australia’s best-ever one-Test players

I really hope Carlton do keep McGovern.

Pressure mounting on Teague as finals slip from Carlton's reach

does Carlton have another $800k in the cap to get that midfielder they need? If they don’t then its a problem.

throw in McGovern as the steak knives and clear a huge amount of salary cap.

Pressure mounting on Teague as finals slip from Carlton's reach

Carlton is a great lesson for other clubs, it’s a gamble to pay big money for a half back flanker and think they will become a midfield star.

Pressure mounting on Teague as finals slip from Carlton's reach

how many teams are going to play 3 quicks? Must select players can can take on the spinners, otherwise we’ll get bogged down in the middle overs and leave too much to middle order at the end of the innings.

Australia should rotate their top six during the Caribbean and Bangladesh tours

Have they underachieved some years? Yes.
Are they “perennial underachievers” hahahaha. I wish my club underachieved like West Coast.

Another failed season for West Coast, the perennial underachievers

Rowdy, what are you concerns? From the outside club is tracking well and as expected.

How are coaches performing at the midway mark of the season?

Broadcasters and sponsors are paying for content. Which comprises the games, press conferences and other interviews etc. And players get paid for this bundle of content. Maybe players should have the option to take less money just for playing?

Osaka withdraws from French Open

two good years at Celtic and he is coaching Premier League. It can happen quick.

Ange Postecoglou to Celtic is huge but not without risks

Jeremy McGovern says hello…

Why Jacob Weitering is clearly the AFL's best key defender

Maybe, but hard to see a player like Merrett getting past North and Hawthorn in the PSD, Both those clubs should have more space in salary cap to match any offer.

The case against reappointing Nathan Buckley

agree with match day coaching set up, That’s why AFL should strip it back to just the 4 main coaches and limited stats on game day. We have lost that part of our game and are poorer for it. Having 10 stats guys sitting behind the coach provides nothing positive to the game. It stifles innovation and adds cost.

The case against reappointing Nathan Buckley

you are not going to get a bag of chips for that lot. And they have trade down the draft for the Daicos father son pick. So unless they trade future picks this won’t be the year they get in much talent outside of Daicos.

The case against reappointing Nathan Buckley

A couple of points, firstly would the AFL suspend a star player if that was a prelim final for a similar tackle? I think not.
Secondly, I’b be interested in a ground keepers perspective as I believe playing surfaces are much harder now and would have to be a contributing factor for concussions. And if I were a lawyer acting for an ex player with suspected CTE, then would argue that the AFL has failed on a duty of care by playing on grounds that are clearly too hard for our game.

Nick Holman's tackle puts AFL's relationship with head knocks on notice

Even watching Collingwood lose is hard as their football is just soo blah. Does Buckley want to coach? As I always wonder why more coaches don’t resign on their own terms, have a break and then reset for another go.

The case against reappointing Nathan Buckley

Huge game for Port and Bulldogs. If Bulldogs win they can start planning for a top 4 finish. Nearly the same for Port.

Safe predictions for AFL Round 9

only 40 points…… did you see the physical beating the Crows took last week.

Safe predictions for AFL Round 9

The reason is that the crows future midfield is very weak. And they are already looking at another 2-3 years down the bottom of the ladder. Better to cash in for a high first round draft pick now and take a 3-5 year look at a rebuild. Can’t see Crouch playing long enough for Crows to come around again as genuine contender.

Is footy's forgotten free agent the key to unlocking Carlton's skipper?

Why would you move Cripps out of his best position. They both play the same role. M Crouch is worth a first round pick. But instead of Carlton I think Sydney would be the better destination for him if he leaves the crows. Kennedy will be 33 next year and Crouch will fit their age profile in a rebuild. They should have the cap space as Buddy finishes end of next season so they only have to juggle cash for 1 year.

according to Eddie, because he knew heritage round was getting cancelled, he agreed to the request. So no wonder Collingwood ended up needing the Do Better Report when the culture is set from the top.

Good on the VFL for staying true to it’s principles.
