Agreed that Crows played dumb football. Should have put Keats onto Stewart at quarter time. But you massively over rated the list. Midfield is definitely not elite. Has no where near the quality and depth of some over teams. And yes the forwards are dangerous but not best I the comp. At least 2 or 3 other better groups including Geelong.
Footy Fix: The Crows played 2024's dumbest game against the AFL's smartest team - and it was ghastly
Pies are a very good side and will find some form. But they weren’t a premiership side that dominated. They mastered the art of winning, but there wasn’t some big gap for others to leap. So if they are slightly off then it puts them back in the pack.
Are the Pies still hungry? Owen jokes aside, Collingwood are in serious trouble
Followed Hawthorn and will pay the price. Maybe not as dramatic as Hawks but those trades have set back the rebuild by atleast 2-3 years. It should have been left to those young guys that tasted premiership glory to lead them through some lean years before having another crack late in their careers. Hind sight is wonderful but they literally had Hawks as a lesson of what not to do, and did it anyway.
Footy Fix: The Tigers aren't any good... but you have to admire their Phar Lap-sized hearts
Bombers are in good hands with Brad Scott. However agree it is hard to gauge how good the playing list will be. Premierships are created at the draft and recruiting table. Scott can only do so much.
Brad Scott is building something special at Essendon, Bombers fans... if you just stay patient
Inglis ave in FC is around 32 slightly less then Carey. Haddin is a good benchmark and averaged around 38. Carey also had a good shield game against a stronger bowling attack. Neither are going to be test match greats.
Test Mortem: Aussie aura living rent free in Kiwi minds, Marnus officially in a form slump, DRS needs review
not going to happen this tour, Carey is a better keeper and Inglis needs to rack up more runs as pretty underwhelming batting average. But he is on the right track so hopefully he has a county contract lined up to play some red ball cricket then can hit next summer in the shield and lets see then.

true, but outside of maybe Marnus all the aussie batsmen are capable of making a big score in any test atm. Even Head peeled off a ton 3 matches ago. And that is why along with our bowling strength this side is a hard test team to beat.

Correct. We have seen Head and Green etc in the shield only a couple of years ago and they are clearly class above any current replacements.
Aussie batters grow complacent in cocoon of comfort created by gun-shy selectors - but at least Green finally blossoms
Feel for the kid. Don’t understand why he is still opening. It’s a numbers game and as an opener you are guaranteed to face a new ball delivered by the quicks. It doesn’t remove the risk, but surely negates some of it.
Pucovski retires hurt in distressing scenes after another Sheffield Shield head knock
complacent isn’t correct. They are just out of form. And there is no line up of ready replacements. Do we really think Smith and Labs aren’t working hard to improve their form. Head has gone from a world champ to a walking wicktet. But despite what they say , pretty sure he would be worried.

agree, but Poms did lose their number one spinner.
Bazball beaten: Indian young guns' nerveless stand aces chase, ensures Poms' first series loss under McCullum
Yep stats tell the story, only 3 wins out of last 9 test matches. And one of those was against Ireland.

Short in for Stoinis makes it a far better looking batting line up.

batting at 7 would give Wade the nod as he rarely gets bogged down like Inglis can.

Short is a far better player then Stoinis, but IPL form will play a role and don’t believe Short has a IPL contract. Hard to believe as would have been a bargain. May still get drafted in as a injury replacement.

agree it was a terrible example. especially when the batting to come was super thin. Retiring Inglis would have been a much better example as if he had stayed in for another over Australia lose that match.
It's not against the rules, but it's highly suspect... Will 'tactical' batter retirements be T20 cricket's next big thing?
Swap Inglis and Short. Short is a superior bat.

never has there been so much hype and so little delivered by a marque game. History shows what a dud of a game its been.
Is Opening Round actually a good idea by the AFL after all?
that would be good, much better then all the fake hype around Rich v Carlton. The worst marque game on the calendar.
Is Opening Round actually a good idea by the AFL after all?
I think opening round with 4 matches played in Brisbane and Sydney is a good idea. Nearly all marque matches have been reserved for Victorian teams, Adelaide now has gather round. I think putting spotlight on northern states for opening round is good.

on form he has it all over Fraser-McGurk.
Warner gets up off canvas but denied fairytale farewell as Dre Russ power lifts Windies to upset win over Aussies
Matt Short had the most dominant BBL. Should be in the starting XI, gun fielder as well.

was ready to write Tim David off. But has found some form. Tough spot to bat in T20.

He was definitely MVP. When the game was on the line he won it for the Chiefs,. Several runs to get first down when under the pump and a TD pass to win it. No one else had such an impact. Agree was tense but lots of skill errors and lots of missed opportunities meant it wasn’t a great game.

Nicks had the hardest job in footy when covid struck. Team hadn’t bottomed out, but had made big changes, and they couldn’t train as a group. But if season went 22 games they would have finished higher then Roos. Crows have never done a rebuild as deep as this one.
