Looking forward to the next Australian summer, the question must be asked: Can Australia win back the Ashes against England? I hasten to say,…
Yep Woosha’s gone and the players know it, hence the less than par performances.
Worsfold: I won't apply for Demons job
Excellent article and great insight Brad.
JOHNNO: Are taggers just players who aren’t good enough?
It’s interesting to read that the hate and resentment towards PA from non-Port south aussie football fans is so deep.
Port vs Crows: the showdown for all South Australians
Very thankful they let the cameras in, great insight.
That pre-match address was just plain awful. Get excited for crying out loud!! The boys are about to go into battle, get em revved up!
As for the three points he put up on the board, the last was the worst – “It’s ok to make mistakes.” BS!! You get paid a sizeable salary! You don’t drop chest marks and you don’t miss targets.
No heart.
Melbourne Football Club: rotten to the core
Does Australia really need an all-rounder at 6? You just need a proper batsmen who can bowl a bit – how about Mitch Marsh??
A squad to win back the Ashes
The Eagles won a flag with Ben Cousins and then set the club back three good years due to him being a ‘distraction.’
Is Dane Swan too much of a distraction at Collingwood?
Great article Johnny, you took the thoughts right outta my head. Much has been said about Clarke and his ‘inner circle’, it will be his downfall if the runs dry up, so to speak.
How do ya like Watso leaving for home? As much as I detest the bans, Watson not playing does make me smile a little bit.
Australian cricket: a joke with no punchline
So this is what we get from the Argus Review. Bravo. Clap. Clap.
I feel for Mitchell Starc. Dropping a bowler after taking a five fa is disgraceful.
Inverarity and Howard on a hiding to nothing with rotation policy
Ummm … are we forgetting centuries hit by Warner, Cowan and Hussey?
You can’t throw the ‘if it wasn’t for Clarke’ line. He is part of the team, he was there, he contributed.
And I don’t think Australia is a long way off number one. For most part it was such a tight series, test cricket at its best.
Reality check for Australian cricket
Please please please, not Hughes. He does not have the technique against quality short-pitched bowling.
If anybody, at this stage, it has to be Kawaja. I think Mitch Marsh will eventually make the team once he gets his body right.
Who is next in line to replace Ponting?
If only the DRS was around when Ricky was shockingly given out LBW for 96. I guess it adds to folklore.
Glad you mentioned Ricky’s pull shot, no one can play it better.
Ricky Ponting retires with a record that stands the test of time
He might be very well an ok guy in ‘real life’, but unfortunately we judge from actions visible to us, the public sports fans.
This awful contractual saga and his new boxing direction has made a mockery of the sport of Rugby, a mockery of the sport of Boxing, and as a result, he’s made a mockery of himself.
Quade is now okay with me
Best Australian batsman I’ve seen was Allan Border.
I wonder how Ricky would’ve went against the likes of Malcom Marshall & Co.
Ricky Ponting to retire [VIDEO]
Ricky was a great cricketer and will be missed, hope he makes one last ton.
I called for him to retire after the last Ashes defeat, but the more I think about it I’m not so sure if there is anyone good enough to replace him. I can’t see Hughes or Quiney or Kawaja performing any better. Well, Kawaja may be ok.
If they bring in Hughes I’ll totally lose my s…

Oh man these “aggressive sledging is bad” articles come about every summer …
Nothing wrong with a bit of fast bowling aggression Andrew. Yeah sure it can be a bit silly carrying on about a bird flying over, but ya know, fast bowlers want blood and are fired up. Fast bowling aggro is a part of Test Cricket.
Do you remember when Dean Jones asked Curtly Ambrose to remove his wristbands? Bad move Deano! Great entertainment watching Curtly fire up.
Pattinson should focus on bowling, not being an attack dog
Don’t be surprised if Mitch Johnson gets selected for the Third Test at the WACA:
1. Has a great record at the WACA
2. Has a good record against South Africa
Confusion, madness reign supreme in Australian cricket
Absolutely baffling comments by Pat Howard. If Watson is fit to bat he should play.
I cringed when Quiney came on to bowl.
Watson can't return as specialist bat: CA
haha i went to that game too, it got a bit feral didn’t it? I remember it was an unusually sunny day and I think the sunshine got to a few peeps!
My first Port Adelaide match... in London
Don’t they play one-dayers on cloudy days??
There are no cloudy days in Perth so WACA day/night tests should be a goer :p
ICC and CA back day/night Tests
Listen, you make good points about Wade and I reckon he goes alright, but from what I’ve seen, and not looking up the cricket almanac for avarages, my opinion is that Paine is a better wickie/batsmen … and I’m sticking to it!
You can’t have enough leadership in any sporting side.
Don’t knock the U/15 Hobart Echidnas, top side that!
Haddin should be the Test keeper at the Gabba
Paine is more solid with the gloves and can also bat up the order.
Also has pretty good leadership creds, was captain of all his junior rep teams.
He definitely isn’t overrated, stats don’t always tell the full story.
Haddin should be the Test keeper at the Gabba
There used to be a great atmosphere at the WACA, but the fun police have killed it.
Remembering the WACA's first decade of Internationals in the 70s
I’m thinking both Marsh bros would be a good inclusion in this line up, depending on their injury status.
Shaun in for Usman, Mitch in for Watson. Too easy!
