I think the captaincy has stunted his game , Cam? You seem to know a bit about the Storm Cam. So, what has happened with Jack Howarth’s development? The Storm signed him young on a 5 year contract and as a kid promised something special. But he is now 3 years into the deal, and still can’t get a game ? Was it just a rare bad deal done by the Storm ? Or are there excuses ?

Yep ! A pretty useless set of statics when you have some players playing for 80 minutes , others for 40 minutes. Some players with specific roles to do all the grunt work in the guts, whilst others have more attacking tasks to run at halfbacks and make breaks out wide . At the end of the day, each player has his role in the team where even a 20 minute stint might be vital to getting a team a win.

Joe, I thought Blore & Katoa were terrific for the Storm as was Chan in his cameo appearance. But I have Grant as my Supercoach hooker, so I watch him very closely. I don’t know whether its because of the captaincy or not, but his form is way down on last year. He has offered no creativity in any games this year. Just tackles all day and plays dummy half, just like Mitch Kenny. And is not scoring many SC points !!! With Munster’s injury and Grant doing nothing, the Storm are relying totally on Hughes & Paps for any attacking chops. Hence the Storm with strong team commitment, are still winning, but not looking convincing at all ?

As is Manu. I think that is why the Chooks are struggling . No real backline movements . Just bombs to the tall wingers ?

I think he is signed with the Broncos until 2026. But then cash talks all languages ! Especially big cash !

Jeremy, I have been on the band wagon all year. I’ve tipped them to be top 4 again this year. I could see no reason why they would slip with Fonua Blake staying on and with the addition of Capewell, RTS & Harris Tevita this year. The team is another year more experienced under Webster and it is now only injuries that can disrupt their chances, and even there they have more depth than last year. The loss of Metcalf is a blow but I reckon Te Mare Martin will prove an able replacement in the weeks to come. Wayde Egan has finally reached the level we all expected from his juniors dominance at Penrith. Obviously, a slow developer, but he is right up there now, although he does seem to cop a few injuries regularly? The back 5 play like the Panthers and give the Wahs great starts to their sets. Their middle third of AFB, Barnett & Harris dominate the guts. It is now just up to Johnson to work off that great platform to create opportunities for his willing backline.

100% Cam ! I would upgrade Turuva to keep him in the fold for more than footy ability. Then a lazy $500k – $600k tempter to Xavier Willison or Benjamin Te Kura makes good sense. Otherwise keep the development going on Smith, Henry, Geyer and Hassett. They have plenty of options.

100% BG ! I certainly like the comparison of Kyrgios and Mitchell. Extremely talented but also very temperamental and only willing to put in when it suits them. Without an attitude change, they will never change. So, a Club needs to decide if Mitchell is worth keeping under such an arrangement ? I think Lomax is a bit different as he always puts in the effort even if not totally happy. Not as talented as Mitchell , but he always wants to get his hands on the ball as much as possible. He thinks he can do that playing centre or even better at fullback ? The Coach is not convinced.

The Panthers are a major NRL development Club. Plenty of players & coaches spread around the league now. Peter Wallace must be about ready to move to some struggling Club ?

Yep ! You just know that Fish will be trying very hard to finish off his Panthers success before he goes. Anyone who saw his 100th game jersey presentation will realise just how much the club meant to him .

Sounds like the boss wanted to go back home ! Fish had regarded the Panthers as his 2nd home. Massive loss for the Panthers next year, but great get by the Wahs !

Some players handle the captaincy with ease. For others , it impacts their own performance. I reckon DCE handles the job with ease and it doesn’t impact his own personal performance levels. But I think Harry Grant is struggling with his own game as Storm skipper. He has dropped all creativity and risk from his game to think more of the team. He is now more like Mitch Kenny than the old Harry Grant. DCE will be QLD captain if he is playing.

They don’t have the cattle right now. I just think there are too many fringe or overrated first graders in that Parra team. And I include their much touted front row. I would take Gutho, Moses, Brown, Hopgood & Cartwright only, and send the rest down to NSW Cup. They will likely beat the Dolphins in Darwin tonight with their extensive injury list, but I can’t see the Eels as finalists in 2024 with or without BA ?
