Tim Horan was a big fan. I just got sick of his constant talk and blowing. Absolute punish but at least it means the Wallabies won’t have him.

Boks coach bemoans 'bounce of the ball' as youngster's massive play secures All Blacks win

No Dan, the personal comment was removed. I have no issue with yours at all.

Clash of cultures: Quade Cooper versus Los Pumas Anonymous, a 'generic Springboks Lite'

And yet here your, inaccurate, comment remains…

As with many areas of human discourse there is a line.

Debate the merits of a story, an argument, even a headline (what a dull thing to argue about by the way) – play on.

Personal abuse laced with falsehoods from anonymous internet trolls? I’m sure they can find somewhere else to take those.

I was employed to increase the number of people reading The Roar, and was employed because I have a track record in doing that. So far it’s working. While I understand some of the extra content and how it’s packaged is not to everyone’s taste, I just have to keep doing my job the best way I know how.

Again, feel free to make yourselves heard on what you like (as a few have on this story) and what you don’t (as a few have on this story) but if you want to get personal I’m found at tony@theroar.com.au and will happily engage you there, away from your cloak of anonymity.

I’m afraid you might break the internet!

WALLABIES TEAM: Leota the No.6 bolter, McMahon overlooked, Hodge starts and JOC on bench

Thanks and appreciate the feedback. Understand it can be messy but I think looking at comment time stamps might help. It might also help I guess if I’m updating a story to put a comment in making it clear that it’s updated. That’s kind of what I tried to do today but possibly wasn’t explicit enough. It’s obviously more work to produce extra stories if you can update, but there are other issues too. … I wrote about Hodge being selected at 6am today, and then changed the story when I heard an hour before the naming that McMahon was likely not to be picked. As well as appearing on site, the stories are shared on facebook and they can float around for days. So there might have been dozens of readers in an out of date team story filed at 6am, but not getting the 12.45pm official update. I’ll think on it, but on balance I can’t see an elegant solution that fixes everything. Cheers Tony

Not is not a word we like to use in headlines, Paul. My old boss, god rest his soul, would have picked me up by the ears if I used not in a headline. Except for Alan Knott maybe. ‘McMahon misses out’ probably works, but it’s one letter longer than overlooked…. decisions, decisions

Alsways on the look out for cool words if you want to share one to describe McMahon’s status?

WALLABIES TEAM: Leota the No.6 bolter, McMahon overlooked, Hodge starts and JOC on bench

Hi Dave, the article has been updated since the comment. The comment, at 11:02am was before the team announcment which happened at 12.45pm. Hope this clears it up.

WALLABIES TEAM: Leota the No.6 bolter, McMahon overlooked, Hodge starts and JOC on bench

Hearing some suggestions now that McMahon won’t be named to start. … The team will drop 12.45pm and will be updated here asap after it does, could be a surprise or two in this one.

WALLABIES TEAM: Leota the No.6 bolter, McMahon overlooked, Hodge starts and JOC on bench

Hodge the only definite in that. It’s also being suggested McMahon will come back via bench and that wouldn’t be a shock.

Thanks, fixed now

Eek! That’s what it was when I was laying in bed last night wondering what I’d forgotten. Won’t happen again. 😱

Decent point, have changed it 😊

NZ reaction: All Blacks take 'physically fearless but mentally fragile' Boks No.1 ranking. Is their dignity next?

Copy updated with quotes and South Africa coach Jacques Nienaber had no excuses. “Australia were brilliant tonight. We were well beaten in everything,” he said. “As coaches we didn’t get it right.”

“We can just sincerely apologise. This was not a performance worthy of the Springboks jersey.”

Thanks for spotting that mistake and it’s now fixed. Going to mark that down as an editor error, rather than Jamie’s. Cheers Tony

'The younger guys were overawed': Manly's pack must aim up against Roosters' 'X-factor of skill and strength'

I can’t run it down 100 percent but my reading of it is that DR has the option of using 2 in a game. Duncan isn’t in the game day squad this week (and unsure if still with the extended squad) so that means only one GL player (Kerevi) is involved. If McMahon and Kerevi play next week and Duncan P doesn’t, that’s 2. I’m not sure if DR could have (for eg) 6 GL players in his extended squad and able to chop and change them to include 2 different ones in each match day squad – but one of the other peeps on this board might have more clarity. It would make some sense to me though

'I'm gobsmacked': Everything Rennie said on Hoops critics, JOC's key change and 'destructive' McMahon

Because of COVID there was a temporary easing of the 60-Test qualification with Rennie now able to pick two players who don’t meet that criteria – Kerevi and McMahon are those two.

Correct, very much saying his team shouldn’t have conceded them, not that they weren’t legitimate

South Africa make three changes for second Wallabies showdown

Can’t guarantee that. All it takes is a few quotes from South African rugby writer Voldemort and the place goes nuts.

Yeah you would have got the 7.30pm edition up there.

The SMH will have had two editions, depending on where you live or bought the paper you might have had a first edition paper which has to be sent to print at 7.30pm. They would have waited for the match to get it in as many of the print run as they could.
