Loyal rugby follower. Wasn’t a particularly good player but just loved the comradeship of it all. Ref now in country Qld.

That was embarrassing from Van Egmond, two point blank opportunities. Even if she’s not normally a striker her reaction time is too slow, even when she’s back up field she turns possession over too easily. Time to put her out to pasture.
Matildas 35yo scores seven minutes into fairytale return as Fowler and Foord finish off Uzbekistan
I’d say it was cynical, Max J decided to leap into the tackle well before JP was any where near the ball. So he was just relieing on luck that his timing of contact was right. He didn’t – so bad luck. Cop the consequences.
'Tough call': Reds too good for Tahs in cracking Aussie derby, as controversial penalty try, yellow to Jorgo proves telling
Yes agree, Tahs weren’t as bad as the scoreline suggests. Both teams very physical & Tahs were very good at the breakdown, though did get a couple of freebies from Doleman.

Like that batting order. As Inglis in that first T20 nearly lost the game for us with his “slow” batting, thankfully David pulled the rabbit out of the hat.
True on Smith, T20 batsmen need to be able to score more than a run a ball these days.

So true BF on Jock’s decision making being better & his linking up with others on the return, but is that because JP hasn’t played as much in this position?
Yeah, I meant JP was more dangerous in attacking a straight line of defence. He’s a bigger bloke, seems awkward to tackle & can get an arm free for an off load (though sometimes needs better decisions making here to when to hold onto it).
Don’t get me wrong, I’m a big fan of Jock’s as well.

It’s good to see Tate in an after match interview not being guttered, poor fellow earnt it. Hope there’s more to come this year.

Jordie Petaia just lost possession twice in the ruck, mainly due to Perese not releasing in the tackle, very unlucky for him the ref didn’t see it. I’d give him more of a chance at fullback as he offers X factor on his returns but Jock does as well, so I don’t know?? Though, he is more dangerous taking the ball to the line which is an advantage in this day of in-your face defence.

Inglis is hanging by a thread. He better deliver in the last game or does someone like Short needs a decent crack at 5?

Sutherland didn’t help Healy much with hogging the strike when she was in her 80-90’s.
Great batting by both Healy & Mooney, just a pity they got out with some poor shots, maybe it was the heat??
Heartbreak for Healy as she matches Mitch's 99 in Australia's day of dominance over Proteas
Yep, a very sharp catch. It was in his hand before he realised it.

Here’s a left fielder, Beth Mooney. She’s an unreal short game opener. Has better figures then all these others as well.

What a bowler & he seems like a good bloke as well.
Pity the Australian batsmen when they come up against him, they’ll have no hope.

A bit harsh as the ball was stationary but laws are laws. Get consent, if you want to do that sort of stuff.

Rebs have a good roster & I’m glad that they got a result.
Hopefully TT can stay healthy, he’s a once in a generation player. Hope the AFL Victorians appreciate his work & he becomes a drawcard (even if it is the novelty of seeing a big, athletic, 130 kg guy running around the footy field).
Rebels put aside off-field drama to deliver Super Rugby 'statement' win over Tahs as recruits stand up
Yeah, how’s he gunna go when he is under pressure to up the run rate against better sides? He doesn’t fill me with any confidence with his batting at present, I’m sure there are others that deserve a chance especially in the short form?
Green makes most of promotion but questions remain over best spot as Bartlett's burst propels Aussies to victory
What about his batting average? Might make up for his poor bowling av.
Windies' dynasty decline a cautionary tale for Australian selectors with major transition period looming
Yeah, she did seem to fail when lowered down the order. She’s the type of batsman that has to ease into her innings I think, she can’t go hell for leather from the start. Strange she was dropped down as she seems to be the glue in that top order. Always turning the strike over & playing second fiddle to big hitters like Healy. Can’t see the reasoning for opening both Healy & Litchfield together as they are too similar.

Hard to believe Beth Mooney didn’t even get short-listed.

Selections or lack of, even when players like Bancroft & Renshaw have over the last couple of years scored good runs in Shield & County. Boland & Neser are just snubbed because they aren’t in the inner sanctum. Selectors are just too scared to give these guys a go in case they show them up like Boland did a year ago. Tiger’s comment below sums it up pretty well.
Also, player power is at its peak by the looks, this not only looks bad but leaves a dirty taste. From axing a coach because he was “too intense” to influencing selections with their best friend head of selectors. How much pressure was put on the selectors to keep the same team & just shuffle the batting order whether it was good or not?
There’s a look like in the school yard, the cool team doesn’t let anyone else play with them. So when the dough bangers come up against them, guess who the majority will be hoping to win.
It's not un-Australian to cheer against Australia - in fact, in our favourite sports, it is the best option
Agree with your reasons Mike re the competitive aspect. But with the cricket I’d also add in the hopeless job the selectors are doing in not looking to the future & the perception that the kids are running the show.
The Oz men cricket team at the moment is hard to get behind. So, seeing a “minnow ” like the Windies beat us is great in that it might produce a change.
I can remember in the 1980’s when Bob Dwyer picked a NSW heavy Wallaby team to play the Scottish at Ballymore, they were booed as soon as they ran onto the field, the fact that Qld had beaten NSW well leading up to this test was lost on the selectors & the punters could smell something. Wallabies lost this test, Dwyer righted his wrong the next test & they flogged the Scots.

Agree Paul, Smith should of done better farming the strike especially with Lyon & Hazlewood.
It’s common sense stuff, don’t expose your bunnies especially to a fast bowler on fire. All Smith was doing was relieing on Lady luck instead of taking control of the situation. Maybe Smith needs to rewatch the Stokes/Leach partnership again to see how it’s done.
Trust the lower order or farm the strike? Smith follows Waugh path but tail ends poorly after his crucial late error
He should of given the South Australia premier an uppercut as well.
Windies skipper shreds Aussie great over 'pathetic, hopeless' dig, Lara in tears over miracle win
Agree, Smith’s batting was good but his game management was poor. He should of protected his tailenders better. A la Stokes at Edgbaston. We will continue to lose these close ones if we keep trusting our bunnies like Hazzlewood.
Shamar's a superstar: Windies rookie destroys Australia with all-time great spell to break 27-year drought in cliffhanger
Yep, our batting is shocking once the ball moves off a line, hopefully Smith’s knock isn’t seen as a success at him in the opening spot. We need a batsmen that has experience in this facet especially against pace bowling. Too many of our batsmen, Head, Marsh, Green & now Marnus are suspect to it. Send Green back to Shield cricket for a good year, he’s far from ready for test cricket.

That’s a shame about Wagner not being picked. He’s one fellow that can give it to the Aussies. He’s so competitive & would get under the skin of some of the more precious Aussies.
