Terrible news, played well in the qualifying & preliminary finals, very unlucky! Opens up a spot for Ash Johnson to claim as his own! Or could the Pies do it again and look at another Gold Coast delisting in 2023 VFL leading goal scorer Brodie McLaughlin?

Magpies ace suffers long-term injury with entire 2024 season in doubt

Sad to see Tay go, he is a heart and soul player and competitive beast. I wonder if the Pies portion of Grundy’s contract comes into play here? If the move happens it opens up a regular spot for Macrae!

'Required player and leader': Pies' blunt response as vice-captain, GF heartbreak story requests trade

Hey Macca, Did you forget DeGoey missed a few this year for a bump, Adams for a dangerous tackle. The one rule for the Pies did not help them! ????

Maynard FREED: Pie cleared of rough conduct charge after marathon Tribunal hearing

…and last night you were spruiking stat’s about inside 50’s, scoring shots etc in your weekly negative Magpie post! As you’re Mighty Blues found out, and hopefully you have finally realised there is only one stat that matters in finals, outscore the opposition!

Finals Fix: Forget Charlie and Harry - it was Blues' sensational smalls that sunk the Swans

Nice deflection! You have been bagging Murphy unmercifully for several weeks now. A courageous player who is one serious concussion away from game over! Yet he still throw’s his body into packs and backs into marking contests. I guess your hatred of anything to do with the Pies can’t see that!

AFL News: Mixed injury news for Magpies, Stringer back for Bombers' finals tilt, Giant blow at tribunal, Cats defender scratched

Funny that a Magpie haters friends witnessed this “alleged” incident!

AFL power rankings Round 2: Flagpies already? Scintillating Swans? Faltering Fremantle?

A fact is when it reaches a court of law and is reported on by the press. A good example is ex Carlton player Ron De Lulio!

You “heard a story” and it’s a fact?

Wow, can you sink any lower Macca? That is a very offensive comment to make! I am surprised that Roar actually printed it!

Great read James! I don’t know about Frampton, he may be the new Magden thrown into the side to cover injuries. Krueger is an interesting one, I can’t wait to see what he can produce with a full preseason and injury free year. He may be the permanent fullforward which would allow McStay to return to his original position at fullback. I like McStays versatility, had a great game for Brisbane when thrown into the ruck against Richmond. If we had these four new recruits available for the Prelim against Sydney I would have McStay and Mitchell in with Cox and Bianco out.

Pies fans McCraving a huge 2023

What has been forgotten is that McStay to the Pies is not dependant on Grundys departure! Collingwood have already cleared well over a million dollars in salary cap space with the retirement of Roughhead, departure of Keene and delisting of the Brown brothers, Chugg and McMahon. Also, DeGoeys salary is only a slight increase on what he was previously receiving! Grundy has a contract and cannot be traded against his will, so the Pies would have taken that scenario into account when chasing McStay. More likely is that if Grundy agrees to move to Melbourne it opens up salary cap space for a Tom Mitchell!

Collingwood is playing a dangerous game by pushing out Brodie Grundy

I like Magden for the Brownlow PTS but definitely NO to Mitchell. Hopefully it is just another media beat up! Why would the Pies be looking at a 29 year old on $800,000 a year when they are trying to offload Grundy’s salary? Much better to give Macrae and McInnes more game time. If they are desperate to recruit another inside mid Taranto is a younger and better option.

Hopefully we can get a full season out of Charlie Dean and Nathan Kruegar next year as well!

Ten teams missed the finals - where to from here?

From memory it happened twice in 2014 and 2015. Great starts, top 4 with 8 W and 3 L and then finished with 3 W and 8 L 2014 and 2 W and 9 L 2015 to miss the eight. Also remember copping it from all the Blue’s supporters!

Ten teams missed the finals - where to from here?

You say Collingwood has had a soft draw because of who they play twice. You then go on to state they have the roughest run home because of those double ups against Melbourne, Carlton and Essendon! You also say they were lucky to get Melbourne after the May/Melksham scuffle! If that is the case, what about some credit be given to the Pies for getting up against GWS after the DeGoey incident and the press pile on that attracted?

How Collingwood ended up as 2022's biggest wildcards

Two things you seem to love Macca is getting stuck into the Pies and statistics. Over on Fox Footy they have looked at six of the Magpies close wins and found that using the Champion Data “Expected Score Metric” the Pies rather than being lucky were actually unlucky not to have won by more! Against your Blues expected score had the Pies winning by 30 points. Only one of the six games would have been a loss and that was Adelaide by 2 points. You also love to mention injuries and when the Blues get their best players back! There is no guarantee that you can ever put your best side on the field. One player comes back another gets injured, concussed or falls ill (covid). Look at the Pies in 2018, they went all the way to the grand final with an under sized makeshift defence with Moore and Lyndon Dunne injured. They would have been very handy against Kennedy and Darling but that’s footy!

Six Points: Umps' Ginnivan treatment officially gets ridiculous, and shocking North takes must be called out

Great read in a footy starved summer, thanks Charlie. Looking forward to seeing what McInnes can produce for the Pies next year. A lot of media coverage and hype in his draft year but a season lost to injury has lowered expectations.

Who is the best young AFL player at your club?

Great read Thom and I like your scenario of the Pies trading for the number one pick. It would certainly kickstart the rebuild to pick up two genuine midfielders in the one hit. However, could the Pies handle the short term pain for long term gain, especially after last year’s fan uproar. It could also be said that DeGoey and Moore both 25 are young enough to be around for the next serious premiership push. It would be a very brave move but one worth considering!

What will happen with the top picks in the AFL draft?

He is a genuine midfielder who looks lost when played anywhere else! Has he dropped a bit of speed since returning from his latest injury or is it just a lack of match conditioning? As a Pies supporter I would still like to see him do well next week.

'A sweet victory, but at what cost?': Talking points from the Bulldogs-Lions epic

The Pies have a few spare ruckmen at the moment Pete. Might be a trade brewing if they are really interested in Lipinski!

Great game by MacRae last night, I hope his younger brother can have the same impact for the Pies in the years to come!

Over at Zero Hangar they are pushing for Gary Ayers to be Craig McRae’s mentor.

The winners and losers from Clarko's 2022 announcement

He is not a free agent, so unless the Pies delist him it would have to be a trade. Of more concern is the reports that Hawthorn is chasing young Lynch who has a promising future.

Round 16 Pies review: Has a caretaker coach ever been sacked?

Hey PTS, I wonder if the Pies are playing big Mason in the hope of getting some trade value out of him? It sounds harsh but the more he plays the closer he is to that once in a season “breakout game”!
