Play it safe or play on? Tough calls coming up for RA

you know ze Germans would have a ridiculous and more literal word, maybe die Wildesaustralischespferde

Dan McKellar should remember how Stephen Larkham was shafted

Nailed it. I’m firmly pro-worker, but this is funny and true even on my side of the pacific

Shadow of Folau obscures signs of rugby's revival in Australia

Somehow Beau knows some guys I played with and he came through my town for a few days and visited our home pub a couple nights. I never saw him play but he’s a super chill fellow to chat with.

The spiritual third-coming of James O’Connor

I always feel like defending JOC for some reason. His faults seem the most forgivable type to me. Maybe playing inside will save him some wear and tear for the international season.

Super Rugby Round 4 teams: Rebels smashed by two huge outs

In the the States we’ve had it go both ways. In Major League Baseball the Los Angeles Angels became the California Angels which became the Anaheim Angels which became the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim which are presently called the Los Angeles Angels…
The expansion team the Florida Marlins (in addition to financial shenanigans of epic proportions) rebranded to Miami Marlins recently.

The Wrap: The Sunwolves and Super Rugby’s shame file

I’d really like to see a match there one day. I’ve essentially got my girlfriend convinced its a worthy pursuit. I now just need to convince the boss that he can spare my services for a fortnight

The Wrap: The Sunwolves and Super Rugby’s shame file

Truly a shame. That was around when I started following the wallabies and super rugby. As a former player who started watching with not a lot of experience with the pro/world game I’m profoundly sad about how it all went down with Quade, JOC, that unlucky coach, and some of those guys.

Time the NZAAR part of the partnership asked the obvious question of SA

They always had great teams, albeit largely imported. Thanks for the coverage. I’m trying to attend most of the home games and do my part to stream the others so this goes better than last time.

Wrapping up Round 1 of Major League Rugby

Any insight as to why ATL chose Life to host? Was it the medical facilities? The field is fine and I always like (well-kept) grass over turf, but the affordable ticket stands are at the end instead of along the side

Wrapping up Round 1 of Major League Rugby

As a product of a college rugby club, I can confirm that nearly-universal state of being for said clubs other than the traditional powerhouses like Cal, Life, etc.

Wrapping up Round 1 of Major League Rugby

JOC was a star. A d!ck with self-control issues, but a star on the last best Wallabies team

Time the NZAAR part of the partnership asked the obvious question of SA

ATL. Word is that their development squad put a beating on Life U’s team which is impressive.

US Major League Rugby enters its third season

I already have espn+ for Super Rugby and MLR was on there last year. I’m hoping it won’t require yet another subscription. My city got a team this year so I’ll hopefully be out in person several weeks

US Major League Rugby enters its third season

im going to try to catch some of the local games when the visiting teams have some of the elderly legends who signed up this season

US Major League Rugby enters its third season

DHP is an exceptionally elusive ball carrier when compared to how slow he is. He reliably slips his first tackler at a hilarious rate.

Wise choice: Scott Wisemantel new attack coach as Wallabies confirm multiple appointments

Why everyone got it wrong about Rugby Australia and Israel Folau

His size is on par with the largest DBs, so honestly I think that wouldn’t be as much an issue. I’m not sure he’s got the acceleration off the line to release from coverage and be downfield threat. However there are several successful WRs that are slowish but get in and out of their route breaks cleanly and/or have a good catch radius. Fun to think about but I’d bet he winds up in MLR before the NFL

Rugby AU and Israel Folau settle legal dispute

As long as he’s not too soft in contact. The most prominent examples of basketball players who cross over to football do so as tight ends, so a 6/lock projection is probably right.

Dave Rennie’s Wallabies must mount a case for the defence in 2020

If — big if — he can catch a pass like he catches kicks AND run a route to get open, he’d project as a receiver. Either boom or bust downfield guy like Mike Evans or Vincent Jackson of recent Buccaneers vintage or physical possession/run after catch guy like Brandon Marshall or Larry Fitzgerald. Again, depends if he gets open more easily downfield or on shorter routes

Rugby AU and Israel Folau settle legal dispute

His facial topiary appears to have improved though

Cheika's legacy: Consistent inconsistency and puzzling selection to the very end

I became a fan of the wallabies and super rugby in the early days of Quade/JOC/Beale. For someone who knew nothing of most of the internal/off-field drama, they were all superb to watch.

Six talking points from Wallabies versus England

A fair defense of Hooper. All other arguments aside, his work rate, effort and bravery are plainly on display every time he runs out.

With a massive selection gamble, Michael Cheika rearranges the deck chairs once again

Agreed but credit due to Thor for being the only guy in support whether due to smart running or just hustle…13 other guys nowhere close

Five things we learned from the Wallabies' win over Georgia

I have never considered his wife for any purpose

How the loss of Israel Folau has improved the Wallabies backfield
