It’s ok guys, it was because of the corona virus, and the rain, and we hadn’t played in a couple of weeks that we were made to look like training cones against a team that was still in pre-season.

Yamaga’s problem was scoring goals, not conceding them. 40 goals conceded from 34 games wasn’t actually a bad result for them.
Marinos conceded 38 from 34 games – only around 5 more than when we were a much more defensively-minded team and were regularly in the top 3 best defences in the league (along with Cerezo and Sanfrecce, usually). And also remember that Shonan Bellmare survived but conceded 63.
At the other end though we scored 7 more goals (68) than the next best (Vissel Kobe who finished 8th) and 11 more than Kawasaki who are usually held up as the ‘gold standard’ for attacking football in the J.League.
We’re always pushing the passes out of defence, so there’s always a chance of a stuff up – 2 rusty passes in the Super Cup cost us. And our keepers have license to come out – as I’ve said to Mike, I’m happy with the trade off – more risky play brings greater benefits upfield for us and is simply more enjoyable to watch.
After missing the Jeonbuk game, hopefully Erik will come into the starting XI on Wednesday, a vital cog in our attack with 8 goals, 3 assists from 12 games in the run home to the title last year.
