Let the Mariners beat the Roar over two legs first before we know if this issue is an issue or not.

The finals series are not part of the A-League competition as such and are owned by the FFA.
They will choose the ground that will maximise the revenue and the viewing potential.

I believe that Allianz stadium is less than an hour away from most Central Coast supporters, which is what most people in big cities have to do to get to the city centre anyway.

Allianz Stadium will only be a home advantage for Sudney FC if they ever get there, it certainly won’t give Brisbane any advantage.

FFA must do the right thing by Mariners

Further reason for you being on moderation TM. Roar Mods.

The AFL desperately needs some disloyalty

Alright Trust Me, back to moderation with you. Did you really think was acceptable? Roar Mods.

Football not safer than contact sports after all

Have you listened to Clive Palmer talk – throw in another 20M to seal the deal and the FFA were happy to take his money.

Palmer has the money to keep going and is in a court battle to keep his license. The problem is Palmer, otherwise the GCU would still be in the A-League.

The big question is is GCU a basket case because of Palmer or because they are flogging a dead horse and Gold Coast can’t support an A-League team.

That’s what the FFA are battling with right now, but once again its about the money and they have demanded a $6M guarantee to grant the license to the rival consortium.

Where to now for football and the Gold Coast?

Izzy up there Cazaly?

Win, lose or draw, the AFL always wins.

Israel Folau is doomed to fail with GWS Giants

Great season, really enjoyed the majority of games and with the salary cap and drama filled season the competition has been fairly close.

Looking forward to the Heart v Perth game and hopefully a win away like last time.

Revenge against Sydney will be sweet, if you beat the Nux.

The two Roar v mariners games will be epic and likely a repeate of last year’s grand final.

Another record year for the A-League

Not just Old Soccer – what about the Euro Snobs.
That market is huge and I would guess 90% of people who follow or play football in this country have never been to an A-League game.

Ben, you have the greatest potential to increase your following of the A-League – start with free tickets for junior registrations, then move on to an FFA Cup for the old Soccer and A-League games at old NSL grounds, then target the Euro Snobs with joint promotions with EPL, Seria A etc and competitons with A-League game ticket prizes etc in conjunction with Euro competitions.

Build on the Asian Cup and Asian Champions League as a sister comp to the Euro Champions League and do some cross promotion deals.

The opportunities are endless if you have the energy to invest in it.

BUCKLEY: Exciting times ahead for football in Australia

That’s a fair comment, but the interest generated in the Sydney v Newcastle game was great and didn’t thay play like it was their own final.

Hopefully we get the 10th team sorted and we keep the finals series as it is – gives more fans and teams an extra game or two to watch.

In a couple of weeks we’ll all start to miss the A-League and look forward to the start of the new season.

BUCKLEY: Exciting times ahead for football in Australia

Irrespective of the Swans or Carlton, I agree Macca people are getting desperate trying to find positives about the Giants.

Leave it be – they’re in and up and running, lets move on.

Giant debut leaves Suns in their shadow

I thought after the 3rd quarter when the Swans kicked 7 unanswered goals the contest was over and the Swans went easy on them in the last quarter not to embarrass them too much. Maybe an order from Demetriou.

If there was something riding on the result, I’m sure the Giants would have been thrashed by a lot more.

Giant debut leaves Suns in their shadow

The TV ratings were OK, but should have been better really.

Standalone AFL game rides high in ratings

Don’t trust Demetriou or anything he says.

When the swans went to Sydney they didn’t invade and tried to co-exist. I’d believe that.

But GWS is very different and there are many signs of a deliberate attack on the opposition – like locating right in the middle of the western suburbs, like buying Hunt and Folau from rugby league.

The AFL have often used the phrase code war and rugby league heartland themselves, so I don’t believe what Demetriouy says.

This time its for real and this time he wants to destroy the opposition.

DEMETRIOU: Sheedy the right man to kick AFL into Sydney's west

W-League games on ABC outrate GCU A-League games on Pay TV.

Would be worth a try especially in Summer months when no competition from AFL or NRL.

A-League fails to make the A-list

And FTA as well
http://www.roymorgan.com/news/polls/2006/4035/

AFL doesn’t even make the top ten.

Maybe football fans don't hate football after all

I thought that the avge pay TV audience for A-League was around 100K.

6 of the top 15 all time PAY TV raters are Socceroos games – football isn’t just the A-League.

And what about the ratings for EPL, Premiera Liga, Bundesliga etc that get shown here and all the Champions League games on SBS.
And the W-League on ABC.

This isn’t AFL where there is only one competition to watch.

If you add them all up you’ll find football is the most popular team sport on TV.

Fifteen years of Fox Sports: Football on top

Maybe football fans don't hate football after all

Always had a soft spot for MelbCro and they have produced some great footballers over the years and been involved in some classic NSL and VPL matches.

Long may they continue.

Victorian Premier League still unknown to fans

My sentiments too Midfielder.

United we stand: fans of all A-League clubs must rally

The flat earth people are about to reclaim Queensland and get rid of CIA funded schemes to stop Palmer making more money.

Won’t be long before Sokka will be outlawed and all you football followers will have to flee south to avoid persecution and jail.

Spin doctors only dig the FFA's hole deeper

Bah! Call that a brawl.

Now this is a brawl.

and this

Folau cleared for AFL debut

Are you for real?

Butcher’s hit was so “absolutley nothing” that it started an all in brawl from both sides and caused the umpire to stop the game.

There was never going to be any other outcome and surprise surprise they both get to play in the first game of the season, but don’t lay it on too thick or people start to question your integrity.

Folau cleared for AFL debut

That’s not my reading of the article, Dugald never mentions any local clubs, its always the FFA’s fault.

Clubs are indepenent bodies and there is no way the FFA or anyone else could determine how much each club charges – that’s restraint of trade at the very least.

There is s difference in price because of differences of what you pay for and what you get.

Some clubs hire professional coaches and use $120.00 shirts, whereas other clubs are run by volunteers, coached by dads and use $30.00 shirts – so there’s a price differential, just like buying a car.

To suggest this is the FFA’s fault is absolutely ludicrous.

The Premiers and Champions can be the same team. MV, SFC, BR

CCM have been Premiers and played in 3 GFs but never Champions.

Maybe this is CCM’s turn to be Champions.

It really is anyone's A-League championship

Well done The Bush, hadn’t thought of that possibility either.

It really is anyone's A-League championship

Unfortunately the finals series are not part of the home and away season and are owned by the FFA – like other codes. At least the A-League GF isn’t played in the same town every time.

If Ausgrid Stadium Newcastle was not deemed good enough for the GF a few years ago then Bluetongue won’t be either. There are probably only 4 or 5 A-League towns that have a stadium big enough to hold the GF.

Its not entirely fair to CCM if they win the right to “host” the GF and have to play in Sydney, but from the cash strapped FFA’s point of view it tries to maximise returns.

I’m sure they’ll get more than 20K for the GF at SFS especially for CCM, just up the freeway and what if Sydney gets there?.

The only other option for the GF is Suncorp if BR win the Major Semi, same as last year.

It really is anyone's A-League championship

Brisbane have a far superior goal difference, so a draw is not enough for CCM and I can’t see them beating WP away – probably a draw. So that leaves BR to beat GCU at Skilled park for the title and I can’t see BR not taking that opportunity with both hands.

SFC won’t beat NJ so NJ and MH will round out the top 6.

BR will go on to make the GF, CCM will be too strong for PG, WP, MH or NJ and will fight for a replay of last year’s GF at Suncorp.

Will be just as close this time, but CCM to win their first Golden Toilet Seat in the end because they will want it more to wipe out last year’s disappointment.

It really is anyone's A-League championship
