No-one’s ever disputed that it would take a lot of time and a lot of money to do it right. But the AFL has time and money – and when you’re getting over $2.5 billion from TV rights; you can afford to spend a minute percentage of it to grow the game..

But it’s great fun and always such a thrill, especially for the kids. As they attempt to re-enact the deeds of their Giants heroes. And after sitting watching the game, it releases the pent-up energy.
The Giants are great with the families. It’s one thing you always notice at the game is the number of kids running up and down the aisles. There’s the kids zone with the bouncy castle at the scoreboard end. And the cheer squad down the other end are great with getting the crowd involved in the game.
The kids and the families are the future, and the Giants really recognise that. That’s where the AFL is really working hard, getting Auskick into the schools. The challenge for the AFL and the Giants will be to keep those kids when they get a bit older.
