To be fair Jimmy Anderson admitted in an interview that this was exactly what the ECB had been doing previously. No sure Jimmy is allowed to speak to the press anymore….

Is it green decks or bust for England in the Ashes?

I’m not defending RL but simply asking why a sport that’s head and shoulders about RL (your words, but it’s not a competition) didn’t do a HIA after a player was the recipient of a head knock that warranted a send off. But it’s definitely not a competition…..

Union head and shoulders above league for player welfare

So both codes need to improve their commitment to player safety….

Cool story Jacko, have a great day!

Barrett handed three-week ban by SANZAAR

So Australia got it wrong for selecting a player who wasn’t born here to represent the Kangaroos but you applaud two other players for turning their backs on their country of birth to represent another country?

Is rugby league just behind bigger sports, or does it have additional hurdles?

The Ashes: England vs Australia second Test preview, prediction

An excellent article but I may have missed where you mentioned Hooper went off for a HIA post major head knock. Standard MO for the NRL (you know, that other sport that have no interest in player welfare). Perhaps, I just missed that bit….

Had one of his beloved Englishmen been on the end of that hit Eddie Jones would’ve wanted 8 weeks at a minimum.

Not particularly but I do struggle with hypocrites dishing it out when their own backyard is just as murky. Have a nice day though..

Nine talking points from Wallabies vs All Blacks

Seriously? Hardware store? From a cricketing nation with a solid history of ball tampering and match fixing. Typical NZ salty humility, the only time your mob is harder to listen to is when you win.

Perhaps the cheap shot from Savea on Hooper cancelled Beale’s one out….

Yea that’s the two. Fortunately we had a couple of genuine test bowlers to get us over the line at the death.

Smith and Wade flatten England

Great innings M Wade, proved me wrong. Now let’s see the two medium pacers prove me wrong as well….

Did that clip Roots pad on the way through?

James Pattinson's hilarious reaction to Joe Root's insanely lucky escape

Oh fair enough he’s a bowling specialist then, explains his brilliance with the bat.

Matt Wade gets another Test match over and promptly nearly misses the pitch

Or I could be the umpires responsibility to get it right.

Gritty Rory Burns ton grinds down Australia

Not for me to say. I’m Australian and he wasn’t tarnishing century old tradition our ours.!

Steve Smith once again saves Australia from Ashes embarrassment

Have a nice day, sorry I offended you.

Perhaps but he’s a battle hardened competitor who’s been up against he best batsman in the world for quite some time. The two medium pacers that replaced him have been playing state cricket against batsmen that are not of test standard. Based on our lack of fire and penetration last night I suspect JL has cooked his goose here. Siddle whilst always willing wont bother many batsman anymore at test level and it’s a lottery with Pattinson who is fragile as far endurance goes, and whilst it’s easy to be an expert after the fact he really doesn’t bother top level batsman.

I might be wrong (aging memory and all) but haven’t we just dropped two players who scored centuries in the last test we played?

If ever a time when the three stooges defence fits the crime this was it.

Yes but I also realise I’m a dinosaur and most test cricket fans don’t feel that way. I can see and respect both sides of the barstool on this one.

I’d imagine England are quite happy not to see Starc or The Hoff out there. Hard to understand the reasoning but time will tell on who is the better judge of cricket talent.

My stance will never change but credit where credit’s due he played a fantastic innings.

Full disclosure – I’m an Eels fans and I’d not have had an issue with that try being ruled ok. Although I don’t believe that try altered the outcome of the game. Isaac Luke scored a try that had a couple of knock ons in the lead up, Eels scored off a penalty from a strip that shouldn’t have been a penalty, Warriors last try came from a three man strip that was missed. Swings and roundabouts. The Warriors leaked 24 points and the Eels leaked so it’s a possibility the officials didn’t contribute 100% to the Warriors result. What I would say though is the 70’s and 80’s we were lucky or unlucky to see this controversy at all, maybe twice a season. Were they better refs? who knows….

It's time to allow referees to fight back
