I’m detecting a lot of silent judgement towards my fellow Generation Zers in this thread 😛 I’d rather be watching a test footy match than playing video games, but I’ve already been described as an old man in a young man’s body.
But yeah, professional video gaming competitions/teams are growing with companies pouring billions of dollars into them. Internet personalities on Youtube and Twitch can also make a very comfortable living streaming themselves playing video games. I get it’s bizarre for older folks, and I relate to some extent having spent my initial years of life when the internet was still quite new, but that’s the reality of our times.
