Wheres the hatred in my post… ah, “Greatest”?? A bit of facetiousness but not hate. You would just have to bring it down to that level, much like the “man” himself. Accusing those with an opposing view as “haters”. Never mind.

I said that Blacklock was a better player and would be picked before Mundine. That’s got nothing to do with his position, so your “retort is non-sensical. And those 4 players you mentioned can hold their own, and if a statistician with the credibility of Middleton could compare vital stats that determine a players value on-field, I believe that Mundine would struggle against the player’s you mention.

For the record, Mundine could play. But was simply an above average player. A player that could at best shine in City v Country but found the SOO games a step too far.

Mundine an embarrassment to Aussie sport

eamon do you even understand the point you are trying to make? The Roar is a sports blog so the crux of the “information” is the authors opinion. You are appear to be an old fashioned contrarian or in all likelihood your just a serious Mundine fan-boy. Hope you got that ringside seat to catch Mundines jock strap after he loses and bids farewell.

Mundine an embarrassment to Aussie sport

I will contend that the 3 games he played for NSW were average. He was not a representative player because he wasn’t good enough, he wouldn’t have made the NSW teams of the past 5 years, even at his so-called peak. Nathan Blacklock was a better player and would start ahead of Mundine in any Dragons team.

The “mans” capability are a myth, he was not a premiership winner nor a representative star. He made many mistakes and arguably cost his team a GF win in 99. He disgraced the Red V when he trumpeted that the Storm were soft Premiers, just before a game where the then Premiers annhihlated the Dragons he wasn’t even playing in. He couldn’t back up his vitriol then and he can’t now.

The boatload of taxi drivers, wash ups, salesmen and out casts he has fought to self conflagrate the title ” Worlds supreme athlete” is hilarious.

Mundine an embarrassment to Aussie sport

Mundines camp are crims and should be banned from the SEC for the bout. Paul Kent was correct in saying they threatened the judges and journos in Newcastle. Geale will win, Mundine won’t “box” so it won’t be easier for Geale. Can The Roar and other media outlets finally stop giving Mundine oxygen after he loses this bout??

Anthony Mundine vs Daniel Geale II: IBF Middleweight live updates, blog

It’s impossible to compare Ali with Mundine. There is too great a gulf in class and achievement.

Ali never disrespected a mans family or achieved the infamy that Mundine is so desperate to maintain. Ali never had to lie about his achievements. Mundine is the man Australia loves to hate because he is a fraud. He will never be remembered as a pugilist, he will be remembered as an idiot who served his Islamic masters from SW Sydney.

He deserves no respect, no honour or title. Geale will win, and afterward Mundine will be just another idiot from Sydney the rest of the nation had to endure.

Anthony Mundine playing his role as the bad guy

Don’t you think on this occasion he has gone just a little too far, even for him? You think his commentary is going to inspire people who are having trouble in life to become better, lift themselves off the canvas and become better individuals?

So far he has:
• Abused Geales wife and kids
• Vilified Geale and his Tasmanian Aboriginal heritage
• Insensitively and inaccurately referenced one of (if not the most) disgraceful chapters in Australia’s known history (Tas Aboriginal genocide)
• Bizarrely pointed out that he respected Geale while claiming he is weak, fought rubbish opponents (really Anthony… pot… black…), and was going to lose
• Disrespected a deceased Aboriginal icon and Rugby Leagues greatest player, accusing him of being an “Uncle Tom”
• Overstated his importance on the global stage… again.
• Misrepresented the former National coaches words, quoting out of context
• Inappropriately responding to a legitimate question, as a ruse to continue the bitter contempt he has for a commendable journo
• And finally… Stammering through the most white-knuckle, bare chested and grammatically demented epistle we are likely to witness. The guy’s command of basic sentence structure goes well beyond a few choice hits to the head.

Unlike what Anthony hopes, I won’t be watching to see if Geale belts his head in…. at either a Pub or PpV but like most I hope that Geale really gives it to him.

Does boxing need the pre-fight theatre?

Mundine was a reprobate a long time before he was a muslim, in fact as far as I understand he was a secular Christian when he played for the Dragons/ Bronco’s. He was hardly liked or respected back then…. talk to almost any Dragons fan regarding just who cost them the 99 GF, it aint Jamie Ainscough !! Mundine converted to Islam when he went AWOL from Dragons training in 2000 and headed to the USA, while there he connected with the Nation of Islam via connections of his father. He read Ali’s bio and the rest is history, his newfound “faith” is reinforced by connecting with the charming islamic folk in SW Sydney.

Manly is a team that survives due to 11th hr financial support from noble Northern Beaches “White Knights”. BTW Mals, the column had nothing to do with ladder position and your crowd attendance figures, for a club that has indeed been high on the ladder for years is dismal. Manly has no $$ even after years of on-field success. The licence should be given ti the Bears for the CCoast endeavour. End of story.

Rugby league must improve to stay on top

No rocks Jamal, I’ve got a brain. You are just another Sydney-cenrtic troll that clogs these forums. They are nowhere near the likes of the Dragons, Tigers, and Bulldogs. Parra have an ambiguous financial position due to the bounty that Dennis Fitzgerald obtained. But the only yard stick that you choose to use is the volume of Parra jerseys around where you live, no doubt in South- West Sydney.

Rugby league must improve to stay on top

My team was Balmain but I accept the JV for what it is and what had to be done. The Magpie faction have been upset for a while however it is worth noting the Magpies would have been toast if Balmain went with Parra. The reality is that the WT is true merger, the Magpies receive far more recognition than the Stealers.(That Dragons JV is still a joke.) Keep in mind that the initial squad was contributed significantly by Balmain, the Magpies had their backsides handed to them most every game for the previous 3 years.

Agreed that a Premiership and 13 years in competition is plenty of time now for all concerned to acknowledge the “single” team approach. Some simple points to adopt: HG should be Campbelltown, Home Colours should be Black and White hoops, Away Colours should be Black and Gold hoops, Pre-Season games at Leichardt and a single NSW Cup, U20, SG Ball and youth team.

The Balmain fans would support this. I know because I am one. Albeit an arm chair supporter as I’m a QLDer.

You have some good overall points bjt however I don’t think bashing Sydney-siders is one of them. We have have life so much better in QLD, there is not one aspect of life in Sydney that is an improvement on SE QLD. I’m not saying feel sorry for them but they simply seem to basque in this eternal “look at the harbour” jingoism that they forget the quality of life and cost of living is easily the worst in Au. Just saying.

Sunnybank? Clydesdales? I don’t recall either team in the BRL when the Broncos joined the NSWRL. The other QLD clubs had/ have a strong leagues club association so survived regardless, if you want to bash the Broncos I’m all for it…. The main issue i have is that the Broncos were the killers and coffin makers of the BRL.

They have never looked like being a bottom 4 team…. except the Hopa-Lamb (2) years in the early 00’s. Mick Potter is no Lamb, he will select on form only, and is not the players “mate”.

The scoop: Marshall to want “out” by 2013’s end. Both player and club will be the better for it as well.

Wests Tigers finally ready to get down and dirty

Mick Potter has a great deal of work to do. The Farah vs Marshall fiasco must have some truth to it. Although the club and the players keep denying it.

Why can’t this team produce a consistent season? How did Blair go from a Bull Terrier at the Storm to a Labrador at the Tigers? The so called entertainers need to keep it entertaining when they are on attack, not in defence.

Following the Black n Golds for a long time, their 80s hey-day was on the back of some brutal forward power ( Pearce, Roach, Sironen, Elias, Helmsley etc ). I’d like to see the same mongrel again.

Wests Tigers finally ready to get down and dirty

Agreed Ads, although only so the Black n Golds could relocate. The MacArthur Magpies vs the Ipswich Tigers….. heck, play 3 Sydney games out of Leichardt.

Would you buy your NRL club?

@Black and Fold, how have they been poorly run? Good crowds, solid membership (by RL standards), limited off-field problems (again… by RL standards), wonderful supporters, and they have a decent revenue strategy (again…yes, by RL standards).

I could agree if you were to say that they were a poorly managed football team, perennially under-performing with poor player recruitment and retention strategies. Although that would only put them in the same bracket as the Warriors, Cowboys and Parramatta. At least the last 10 years have a Premiership yield.

Keep in mind, and I am aware that you could be a Magpie.. that this was the only true merger with a cultural link to both clubs. Macarthur is not a Tigers only concern. What is the new Commission doing about canonising the game in the area? SW Sydney should be looming large on their radar.
