Fix the management and board first. Get Ben Darwin in to provide advice to them.

Benji, beware the poisoned chalice: The good, the bad and downright ugly of Wests Tigers’ ongoing coaching debacle

We got a lot of rookies that turned into something, fringe players (Nank and Houli and Caddy), and Prestia, Lynch, Taranto and Hopper. But its the creation of a great club that has made the players better.

2023 Best 23s: Does influx of stars mean a brutal call for Trent Cotchin at Tigerland?

Until the Fons fix the off field and player development they will struggle.

A way-too-early mock AFL draft

If you don’t have good management you won’t succeed.
Develop players in your system and build belief.
It’s the bottom end of players that needs to become better.

Set of six clubs forming a perennial NRL underclass: Strugglers stagnate as smart sides get stronger

They have whole ground cameras

The AFL should send off players for violent actions that take a player out

No extra sub. The offending team pays a penalty.

The AFL should send off players for violent actions that take a player out

Great summary.

'The whole pub was seething': Tigers' dramatic loss hurt so good

Honest remarks. Would be surprised if he left though.

AFL NEWS: Swans unsure on Martin but star has Hardwick's blessing if he wants out, Pickett banned, Rohan ready

Fix the off field first.

MICHAEL HAGAN: Why more than just a new coach is needed to fix Dogs' breakfast

Moving around the ground and so he and Hack are not spoiling each other.
The remoras Rioli, Castagna et al are getting the crumbs

Richmond had a huge advantage in 2017 to 2020 in mindfulness. Their mental strength took a huge leap. Far ahead of the competition.
Players became cogs in a machine that played to their collective strengths.
The players started things and the top echelon finished it off.
It has been about the strength of the team not of the best players. Dimma has said we don’t practice much to improving our weaknesses we work on improving our strengths.
They assist each other to get better.
They lacked cohesion last year. The newer players were perhaps not fully integrated possibly due to lack of VFL play.
Other sides caught up on the mental strength lead we had.
Don’t underestimate changes in Dimma’s mindset due to his new relationship.
You can improve your physical fitness by maybe 5% (unless you are Essendon) but if your mental fitness improves by 50% that is a huge advantage
We will have to see, but the club can be proud of how it works on and off the field.

AFL 2022 Radar: 'In 2021, they threw in the towel'

Great observations.
The role of Emma Murray in building belief is probably the reason Richmond won.
Richmond had a huge advantage in mental fitness.
Other clubs have no doubt copied this and reduced the advantage.
In the fifth year of most jobs people start making more mistakes. They need a refresh.
The coach has had to deal with upheaval and less coach input.
We are now to be admiredon and off the field.

The beginning of the end of Richmond - or is it?

In AFL a lot of clubs insist on coaches having teaching degrees.

Great players do not make great coaches

I loved the 70’s but I loved The Pistols, Talking Heads et al.

Political uncertainty and a lack of vision at Collingwood

Our accountant (sorry lawyer) Peggy has done a top job.
Leave the experts to do the footy. Bruce Matheson has guided the Blues well?

Political uncertainty and a lack of vision at Collingwood

That I didn’t know.

Political uncertainty and a lack of vision at Collingwood

The pursuit of flags is the conclusion of building a great organisation.
The organisation that works to educate and build its employees up to be better people when they leave.
For all its success in reaching grand finals it has fallen short at an alarming rate.
Surely this has to be addressed.
For all the good Collingwood does, the club has been led by an egotistical bully, who took on roles he has little expertise in.
This was abetted by the board not standing up to him.
Ego is a dirty word.
Believe what you’ve seen and heard.
Apologies to Skyhooks.
Create a great organisation and success will follow.

Political uncertainty and a lack of vision at Collingwood

Fix the management first. Off field is a shambles. Eddie had far too much input a la Beames.
Paying the players too much?
Players not paying the consequence of their actions.

The truths some Collingwood fans have never faced

Fix the off field issues.
The racist past.
Why has the club only won 2 premierships in 21 attempts?
The mentality of the players.
Gambling problems

My vision for the next decade at Collingwood

So recruitment is an issue.
Not trying to get better players or make the recruits better?

How long will it be before Collingwood give us another reason to dislike them?

Richmond’s strength is their mental strength. So they can counteract changes with their resiliance.

The game has moved away from Richmond

So is the recruiting the problem or the training?
Is the leadership from the top an issue?
Where is the disconnect?
Why weren’t changes made within the club to address the losses?
Self satisfied to get that close?

How long will it be before Collingwood give us another reason to dislike them?

Why has Collingwood lost 17 grand finals from 21 grand finals in 62 years?
Surely it comes down to culture?
Were they always the underdog?
Or were they always too confident?
Is the expectation of the fans too much?
I’ve been a Tigers fan forever, but only since the recent run have i found out about the transformation through books like Yellow and Black and the club talking about the work they have done.
I think the supporters now believe that the Tigers will win not fold.
The organisation has transformed and the important thing is that it is about making better people, not just better footballers.
Collingwood worships the players. Collingwood worshipped Eddie, who was looking out only for Collingwood, not for the betterment of the game.
Without transformation they will continue to have disappointment.
ALL clubs have had racism issues.
Some have addressed them, all are no doubt working on dealing with the past.
Collingwood is dealing with the issue, but a new president is going to need to build a different kind of club that will bring change for supporters

How long will it be before Collingwood give us another reason to dislike them?

Until the club sorts out the racism and properly unites the team, they will struggle.
Its about the team being cohesive, not about each player.
My Tigers may have Dusty, he caps off the efforts of others. Team unity is number 1.

What is Nathan Buckley's pass mark in 2021?

Read the Richmond books by Konrad Marshall.
Its about the people you have at the club.
Great leadership, a plan, selecting the right people that fit your ethos.

Clubs who don't learn from history are destined to repeat it
