As a kid, when you idolise Brett Lee, there is an excellent chance you are going to become a fast bowler. Pat Cummins did…

Khabib is a role model for me. I have learnt so much from him. And yes you are right, whatever works for the individual. I tried to say in the article (and I think the idea could have been more well written… my bad) that all of these individuals, Kohli, Sobers, ABD, Smudge are special. That’s all.

Correction: It’s Shan Masood, not Shoaib Maqsood. Shoaib was like the least fit player in the Pakistani team. Shan Masood opens for Pakistan and is known for his work ethic more than his batting skills.

If you are looking at the numbers, then he might not be the GOAT, but numbers can be deceiving. He is right up there with the best.
AB de Villiers: A unique genius
Yes, that was bizarre. Before that over, I think Bumrah gave away 4 odd runs in 3 overs.
Pat Cummins faces a daunting challenge
Paul, I agree with you. But, When a player of Pat Cummins caliber puts his name forward, he is expecting big bucks (maybe not as high as he received), and when the franchise pays such a hefty fee, they are expecting the best in return.
Point is that the expectations are going to be there, which was obvious from the twitter frenzy we saw after the first match. And this is going to be a different challenge in the “Pat Cummins Journey”, I am a huge fan of him and I am excited to see how he copes with this challenge.
Pat Cummins faces a daunting challenge
Again I completely agree with you, actually with all of the things you said. But, I think he has the ability to prove people wrong. And I hope he proves us wrong because I absolutely love him. He is just wonderfully built.
Pat Cummins faces a daunting challenge
You are right, but India is no different for fast bowlers. Those who paid big bucks must have something in mind. And as I said, Jasprit Bumrah treated us with a wonderful spell. So you never know with Cummo.
Pat Cummins faces a daunting challenge
P.S. not taking anything away from India, they played brilliant all-round cricket. How often do Asian teams win a test in Australia, let alone a series?
The calm before the Test summer storm
The last time India won the series was against a team without Smudgie. I can’t wait to see Smith v Virat compete for the runs.

Thank You. We have hope in Babar Azam, only time will tell how that works out.
Steve Smith's cricketing legacy is already being felt
Not Delhi’s, it’s Hyderabad. David Warner plays for Sunrisers Hyderabad.
David Warner runs out of luck in the IPL
Wow, very good analysis. So true about warne, we all thought the same.
Steve Smith's cricketing legacy is already being felt
Thank you 😊 I have always wanted to write about cricket.

I absolutely love watching the Ashes, and last year Ashes was one of the finest. I was cheering for England, but Smudge made me think otherwise.

Isn’t his batting stance more like Martin Guptil?

Hi Paul, I agree with you. The ending of this article was supposed to be a little bit funny; I was trying to scare the English fans. 😁

Bob that is exactly what I was trying to say. It makes you wonder why these guys are so special, just like you mentioned Smudge, he doesn’t follow the textbook. Still, he is the best we have. Why? We don’t know, but I think it more of talent+mindset, both extraordinary qualities. Smudge once said, “once I am in my bubble, I go deaf to the crowd noise.”
