I just saw the highlights of the Blacks v Boks game , if we don’t harden up our pack we will get our buts kicked by both .

The five Aussie young guns who should be celebrated - and the one who is ready for the Wallabies

In the subject of young guns – the 20’s were well beaten by Argentina last evening it was in wicked conditions so it seemed to suit the Argie big pack better . That said this years team doesn’t look as good as previous iterations and a couple blokes in the pack are way out of their depth ,without singling anyone out , the cronyism discussed earlier seemed to be on display . Early days for the team and let’s see if they can improve.

Unless he’s taking Wilson’s spot .

Remember that French C side ( so called) that toured here and gave a good account of themselves? They had a number of 20 y o kids making debuts and most of them are established International players now . Give Cale a go I say with Valentini beside him , he’s right at home .

Lynagh needs to work harder in attack to get the second touches the other bloke work for hence the assists stats .

He’s a very adequate defender in the line as well .

And that has carried into the 20’s team for todays game , I might be wrong but our back row looks weak ?

Silly comment by the whistleblower, notice he’s off line now ? I would be keen to read his retort. I’m a Tahs Tragic and I reckon Wilson is the ducks guts !

Well played NZ !

The insurmountable problem facing Australian rugby in a doomed rivalry with New Zealand

May I add however an anomaly the Kiwis do very well 🙂

Fair enough yet our record against the English in all sports is way more favorable despite a population disparity their way of between 4-2 X over the years so that doesn’t work . And our largest winter game is AFL and on one plays us , Rugby in NZ is like AFL – an anomaly .

Not that you realize it reading the Roar, but Australia’s under 20 team was announced today for the upcoming Under 20 RC first match against Argentina. Just a question for those of you who might be in the know out there , I’m wondering what happened to Archie Saunders, a player that seem to be headed for big things judging from last season’s 19’s tournament.? I don’t see him in any of the squad lists for the 20’s. Also disappointed that Harry M- P from Qld wasn’t selected and he’s currently quarantined playing in Hospital Cup !!

Jorgensen set to be left out for Hurricanes as Schmidt drops in at Tahs training

I of course meant Dinkum .

NZ trans Tasman record in nearly all other sports than Rugby is about the inverse of the Rugby result and in Cricket for instance worse . The involvement of NZ teams in Oz comps has benefited them ( NRL , Soccer Netball ) and there is often talk of the NZ national cricket team joining the Sheffield Shield which would no doubt benefit their playing standards . Playing against the best can only raise your standards and there in lies the problem . One step down from SR they have NPC where 420 of their best players (14 teams of 30 squad size ?) go at it regularly. Our one step down by comparison is five separate competitions, geographically isolated from one another we’re about 1400 players play for about 40 teams that rarely compete against each other , in fact only once per year for two of the teams . There is no comparison in terms of preparation . I often hear on the Roar – “ so and so needs to go back to club Rugby to learn his trade “ mates sad truth but club rugby in Oz doesn’t prepare a SR player for battle and that includes the Shute and Hospital, I see a lot of these games on Stan . Until we sought out a NRC type thing we are fighting them with one arm tied behind our back . That said about SR , in the Internationals I reckon we just need to get the coaching and leadership back on track and we will rise the ranks don’t you worry .

Went to WC in 2011 in NZ , wonderful time had by my old man , brother and me . We visited a Wellington bookshop to have a browse, and there in the children’s section was the typical kids reading book titled “A – Z.” The first page ‘ A’ is for All Black ! Fair Dunkin’ !
We still laugh about it . At least we recognize the noble Apple in this country .

The Sheep Sh%#te Inn I know . But can’t recall going there after the game.

Like most of my early days sessions – I can’t remember!

The kiwis love a good jerk over it but there is grim reality and you got to ask why . The u/ 20’ scrum has been ,on balance , excellent over last 10 years but where are the props ? Maybe prop is one position you would preferred filled by government school types ( I am one of those , though not a prop ) and League monopolizes these lads – how would have Lazurus or Webkie or Tallis or even Craig Young been in a Wallaby jersey ? Plenty of others – Steve Bowden ? They all had the body shape .
Bear O’ Reilly as a LH ? Old Artie Beetson I see more as a No.8 particularly in his early days . These blokes would have made a difference but dream on .

Williams was a converted Centre and was 2-3 years short of and injury prevented from being one of the best backrowers about , as good as he was anyway .

You literally took the words out of my mouth , Giffin was a beast , Cockbain not too shabby as well , always liked big Jim Williams but reckon we never saw the best of him .

You know Fats my favorite Subbie game of the year was against Sydney Māori (at home ) back in the early 80’ , hard matches- I loved the physicality ( maybe even brutality :). ) and then afterwards back to some hall in Lidcombe as I recall ? And geez what a spread ! The Lady folk really catered well and the odd ale was drunk ! Great stuff !

I’ve had a drink with Winston in a Sydney pub way back when , struck me as a Rock Star type ?
