While Adelaide’s downfall is unexpected, it is entirely predictable. Many clues from last season (despite the overall success of the season) and the off season suggested Adelaide would go down the toilet:
-A strong home record and a poor away record indicate an underdeveloped team.
-Although they did have the highest percentage and points scored, these stats were boosted by two games against West Coast (one of which was a 122-point win) and an overall soft fixture.
-They relied too heavily on 33-year-old Tex Walker (whose 76 goals were also inflated by huge bags against the Eagles). His age is catching up to him this season.
-Premier defender and captain Tom Doedee departed the club (a huge loss that seems to have gone unnoticed)
-The Nicks extension (This season of course but it is a ludicrous decision that will have huge ramifications this year)
Last season was not the first success in a long line of future successes; It could potentially be the only success in a long line of future failures.

It’s good to see the saints get some recognition, because their campaign has been discredited and disrespected many times this season from the general footy public. Because they play ugly, have an ordinary list and are overall a small club, they are consistently underestimated.
They have already well overachieved for their list, and whether or not they have any impact come September the season is still a success for the club.

Six Points: Port's concussion farce, an all time MCG classic, and a day of upsets flips the season on its head

Farell has really toughened up as a defender. Had many crunching tackles and strong spoils across the course of the match, and across the course of the year. His kicking is elite, but his defensive transformation has been a definite improvement this year. He is rapidly moving towards something he has never had in his career; a consistent first team position.

Fully agree with this article.

There's life in old Tigers yet - why Richmond would be mad to move Cotchin and Riewoldt on now

Could use him at Port…

Are waning Saints any good... or have they just had an easy run?

No problem at all. I’m a port supporter and rapped with how he’s doing at the moment. Primarily as a motivator.

Who is really coaching Port Adelaide?

Yes it’s a theory and it is clearly more than Hinkley getting the players up and about.

Who is really coaching Port Adelaide?

Fair enough.

Who is really coaching Port Adelaide?

Appreciate it mate.

Who is really coaching Port Adelaide?

Thanks for the insight and feedback.
Your right in the sense that the omitting could come from a desperate Hinkley rather than a cool Carr. However, Ken having nothing to lose does not explain the tactical and structural improvement of the team, which must be uniquely Josh Carr or another.
Regardless I completely agree that Port still have a while to go, Geelong game is important but the match against Collingwood in Adelaide will tell us the most about their Flag chances.

Who is really coaching Port Adelaide?

Although the squad is indeed much stronger this season, the players who have come into the lineup are not very strong (Sin, Lord and Teakle).
Because the best 23 is the strongest it’s been in Hinkley’s tenure while below that is on the weaker side (SANFL side is 6th) dropping players from the team is the hardest it has ever been.
Carr has brought in more than just changes, he has revolutionized the way the club is coached. This is down to him not Hinkley as evidenced by the points I made in the article.
While my conclusion is simple, I do think it is accurate but of course it is impossible to know for sure without inside knowledge.

Who is really coaching Port Adelaide?

I think you’ll find that Maguire will do well at West Ham. He can be a quality player in the right environment as seen by his national team performances and would suit West Ham’s system. I would not disregard him.

European trophy the beginning of a West Ham dynasty... yeah, right!

Can’t believe so many people thought Madrid were going to win this game. Part of that bias comes from hate for City, but still this game was always going to be a City win.

My comment wasn’t meant as a senseless jab at Clarkson but more of a humorous acknowledgment of the difficulty of his job. I think calling it ‘trolling’ is a little harsh.

Can hardly blame him for having mental and physical health issues, he coaches North Melbourne after all.

France will account for England with ease. Comparing the teams’ lineups, France is better in nearly every area of the field. The French front 3 is far stronger, obviously Kane over Giroud, but Mbappe is 10 times better than even a peak Rashford and Dembele will outshine Foden or Saka. Midfield battle will be fairly even, but the England defense will be brutally exposed across the game. Shaw is rubbish, the keeper’s hopeless and Maguire will be exposed by Mbappe’s pace and humiliated again. Stones is not great either. I may eat my words in a few days, but I see France winning in normal time.

Yeah, fair enough mate. Don’t know the Saudi league at all so I appreciate the clarification.

Ronaldo set for $200 million Saudi switch: report

Ronaldo should accept the contract. Let’s face it, he is not good enough to consistently perform in the top European leagues and that will only decline with age. Rather than staying around and potentially damaging his reputation, may as well make a truck load of money in a league where no one will hear about him, and at a standard where he can still dominate. It will be sad to see him leave the European stage, but his time has come.

Ronaldo set for $200 million Saudi switch: report

If France had a full strength squad they would account for England, but with the current team I expect England’s balance and form should get them over the line. Much will depend on Mbappe though, if he can record another 2 goal performance France will be through. Best player in the world currently for sure.
