What makes a good football coach?
If football is going to progress technically in this country, it will probably be up to individual coaches. So what makes a great coach?…

Its like football fans going into the afl section and dropping on the latest monthly article on afl concussions everything time there is an international competition like the world cup or olympics that stops the nation. Or ACL championship. Or a ffa cup. Oh wait…maybe just the afl finals.

Yes there is. But usually those are defender clearance type headers which are getting rarer these days.
But most studies show rugby, nfl and even afl I THINK to be around 5x times more concussions and severely harder impact. A soccer ball weighs less than a 100kg afler or 120kg rugby player.
This is from yesterday:

Defusing the Australian code war
If people really wanted to unify the codes than they would point out the absurdity of paying people millions of dollars to chase any ball on a pitch.
They would talk about that any sport gets kids out of the house and interacting with society instead of sitting in front a screen.
Fitness exercises releases endorphins and has many positive boilogical effects.
Fans can go somewhere and feel a sense of unity.

Any kid around 5 years old outside of npl clubs is usually trained by a parent that has no idea what they are doing. We had a lot of mini roos at a club I was part of and one team was taken by a coach who played at a top league in europe for a little bit. His team was winning 40.0 most games. The kids stayed in formation and didnt let tge other team do anything. Other teams played for “fun” and didnt do much besides run in a small rectangle for a bit. But the coach was very difficult to work with from the committee persepctive.
From a very young age kids should be taught formation, strategy and technical skills like juggling and weighting a pass. They will do whatever you design the training around and the grass roots coaching certificate is borderline useless for any of that.
There needs to be a cultural change and mindset change for the game in Australia. Football is more than just running after a ball. Its about knowing what to do with the ball before you get it. And the end objective is to score goals which is something Australia doesnt do much in the big tournaments.

Everyome in vic in football trys to play to get into npl 1. These become the top clubs which theoretically should filter down to the juniors. I guess its a different structure as the National Second Division will have the top npl clubs from around oz including SA and WA. Once the A League opens up for promotion and relegation than essentially you can start at the lowest state league and make it to the A League and the Asian Champions League.
Not having promotion in afl and vfl is another weakness that was overlooked in the article and helps juniors participate in a system that could potentially lead them to A League or top national division clubs.

Look it up yourself. About 500k are aus kick, no game membership and 3 game memberships.

$10 a month is where you draw the line? Get rid of kayo and you are up $15 a month which may appease your economic realism.

So the amount of clubs and teams have nothing to do with participation rates?

I am saying that you can make money as a career in womens football overseas in many countires and there are currently players making over a couple hundred thousand. You can make max 36k in aflw which is less than minimum wage. But apparently thats not a weakness for afl as per the article.

Great points. Arnie seems to not care too much about strikers and if Leckie is out than it will be tough up front.

Do you not eat hot dinners regularly? If so, you go to epl games 4 to 5 times a week? That must be hard during covid times.

Lets have a look as that league has hardly any seniors and not much juniors football. So there are 60 afl leagues in vic which all have their own juniors to seniors? And these can get promoted into the vfl? Or there is no promotion and relegation in vfl? If not than what is the top league that as a club you can get promoted to?

Yeah not sure why the afl guys keep coming and throwing shade on the game.

How many leagues are there for english soccer and all womens soccer like the usa though? Its only 14 clubs in total for all of aflw

Shameful? Maybe other leagues have gotten better over time.

Arzani is a once in a while talent. When he is firing on all cylinders than his passes are magic. Imagine Mooy and Arazni in centre mid.

If aflw players get 20k a year than thats less centrelink. How long will it before they can get 500k a year??? 2100? Thats not a professional comp until people can live off it.

Click select comp and scroll. This is just vic. This looks like a lot more than the link you provided but maybe there are other junior afl leagues in vic.

Gloating? I am saying football has other strengths besides those mentioned in the article and afl has other weaknesses. Doesnt the article clearly say that afl bullys the other sports?
