Performance wise, my choice for worst signing of the year is Latrell Mitchell.
With Leilua Wests knew they were signing a meat head that has consistent brain snaps with and error in every game. Albeit he can be a match winner amd scored the try that got Canberra into last years grand final.
BUT…Mitchells fall from glory is enormous. Fat, slow and butterfingered last seasons centre of the year who after 8 rounds amassed 95 points. This uear ss a fullback he has scored 4 points.
Did of the year is Latrell Mitchell.

Joey Leilua the “worst signing by any club in the NRL era”? Hmm, he may well be

True Rob, individual Queenslanders are scattered throughout most clubs.
However the Cows are the only hope for a team to qualify for this years finals. There chances are extremely slim though.

Broncos' woes overshadow Queensland rivals' slump

Mitchell had scored 95 points at the conclusion of 8 rounds in 2019.
Mitchell has amassed 4 points at the conclusion of round 8 on 2020.
Worst buy of 2020 so far.

Luckless Burns out for season

John….There are two major pleasures in lifes journey.
2. Watching Brisbane on coarse for their first Wooden Spoon.
1. Watching Bennett struggle with a soft pack of Soufths forwards and a tribe full of no hopers in the backs.

Broncos' woes overshadow Queensland rivals' slump

Scrummaging skills have long gone, it is stupidity to even pack a scrum in the modern era.
The NRL need to scrap scrums and because referees do not understand what knock backs look like then the NRL need to just make the rule clear by bringing in yet another rule change of turnover on any drop ball.

Super League axe scrums for season restart

No Queensland team will play finals footy this season.
The top four battle has become obvious after only 8 rounds.
Parra, Penrith, Sydney, Melbourne, Canberra and Newcastle are the only teams capable of consistency. Manly are a one man team whilst Souths have soft forwards.

Broncos' woes overshadow Queensland rivals' slump

Just might be time Bennett eats his words and move Mitchell away from fullback. Mitchell is a flop as a fullback, very lazy, unfit and scored just 1 try this season. As a fullback he should be the leading try scorer chiming into the attack anywhere and at will.
Mitchell is the current DallyM centre of the year. Time to get the most out of himin that position.

Luckless Burns out for season

Hi Nat, you said I wrote a factually incorrect statement. But after reading my statements I then proceeded to amend my error. Which was a tiny snippet on Kane Evens.
As for your claim other clubs have an increased salary cap because of ownership of a Leagues Club or they are privately owned is absurd. Every club can only spend the same as every other club. If teams like the Sydney were cheating the cap then please explain why Latrell Mitchell, Jennings, Maloney, SBW, Napa, Ferguson, Tetevano, Matterson, Tuovasa-Shek, Guerra, etc.etc.etc are not still playing for the Roosters.
It is because the left in search of more money.

Who is the most powerful NRL club? Part 6, the winner is...

Dwain, Yes Cordner has been at the Roosters since a 15yr old. Developed under Sydney Roosters skilled junior coaching techniques to become captain of Australia, NSW and Sydney Roosters winning three premierships for his club.

Who is the most powerful NRL club? Part 6, the winner is...

Dwain….Yes Cordner has been at the Roosters from age 15. A Junior developed under Rooster supervision into an Australian, NSW & Sydney Roosters captain.

Who is the most powerful NRL club? Part 6, the winner is...

Thanks Mark Scarfe. Very interesting 6 part story. Well done.

Who is the most powerful NRL club? Part 6, the winner is...

Nat my friend, what statement was factually incorrect? So I may repair the matter.
Although I did notice the inclusion of Kane Evens as a premiership winner. Sorry about that, He was only a premiership winner in the lower Rooster grades however he did win a minor premiership with the Roosters NRL squad. xxx

Who is the most powerful NRL club? Part 6, the winner is...

This corona virus has made it quite clear crowds are irrelevant when it comes to who is a powerhouse and which clubs aren’t. Tv ratings and on field performances is most important. Financially every club is basically equal as the NRL hand out each season and to every club the same amount of money that more than covers the salary cap.
Although some clubs like South Sydney, are behind most clubs with the non existents of a Leagues Club.
However they love the handouts from Russell. Bludgers????

Who is the most powerful NRL club? Part 6, the winner is...

Yes Max every club has imports, some more than others. However you must admit the best most powerful club in the Universe, that being Sydney Roosters, have the best young player development program in the Universe without any doubt. Hence the Roosters have a long list of young players wanting to sign with them so they can become NRL superstars.
Sydney Roosters have the best junior player development coaches on Earth.
Tupou, Manu, Faamausili, Tupounua, Aubuson, Cordner, Friend, Verrills, Liu, Collins, Butcher and Radley…. ALL made their NRL debut with the Sydney Roosters. Thats 12 players from the 17. Throw in JWH who has played all but 6 games with the Roosters of his 2015 games, Taukeiaho played all but 1 game with the Roosters in his NRL career then you can see it is no surprise young Rookies are lining up to better themselves and forge successful NRL careers, in the likes of Flannagan, Walker etc.
Remember players like Napa, Tuivasa-Shec, Evans, Mitchell etc.etc learned their trade and won premierships at the Roosters.
Just because a player is not born in Sydney Hospital does not exclude them from not being their Junior from their Junior Development Program.

Who is the most powerful NRL club? Part 6, the winner is...

Sydney does not think it is the heartand of Rugby League. It is the heartland of Rugby League and every Brisbane fan is reminded of it every year on granf final day.
Currently Sydney Roosters are the most powerful Rugby League club in the Universe.
Back to Back World Club Championships is all the evidence and facts I need to prove that point.

Who is the most powerful NRL club? Part 6, the winner is...

Souths have won one premiership in 48 seasons, picked up 4 Wooden Spoons and were expelled from the 2000-01 seasons for being so hopeless performance wise, financially and low home crowd support.
Now each season under Crowe, they try to buy a premiership by purchasing around ten players each season and realeasing ten players, resulting in a twenty player turnover. South Sydney are officially the 21st century transit lounge. I can not possibly see Souths winning another premiership any time soon.

Who is the most powerful NRL club? Part 5

Robo is the current number 1 coach on Earth and would have been offered a 5 year deal Walter.

In seven seasons he has won three premierships, three WCC and four minor premierships.

The Broncos have slumped to a 15-year low after six losses in a row

Seibold should have been baited to join Brisbane with a three year contract not five. Bennett rightly was sacked by Brisbane after Saints massive big win against the Broncos at a home semi final. Bennetts defensive playbook jas been missing in action since the 2015 grand final loss. Souths defence under Bennett is appalling. If the Brisbane board is consistant and serious. Seibold and White will join Bennett as a sacked emplyee.

The Broncos have slumped to a 15-year low after six losses in a row

I agree totally with you Walter. Except Bennett has passed his use by date and the Broncos needed to move him on. Especially after Saints thrashed The Broncos at home in a semi final. Bennett was renowned for his defensive stratergies. That has long been his problem ever since losing the 2015 grand final. At Souths under Bennett his defensive playbook is non existent. For 5 seasons Bennetts team have leaked large points.
Brisbane should never had offered Siebold a 5year contract. But being the new coach in the NRL with the best attacking record for 2018, I can see why the gambled woth the rookie. A three year deal perhaps should have been enough bait to entice him, but definitely not five.
Both Siebold and White should be sacked.

The Broncos have slumped to a 15-year low after six losses in a row

Yes Scott I agree, however I think with this contentious self control of refs calling 6 again on minor issues gives to much power for a ref to see fit which team he prefers to win.

Captains need at least three challenges per match including 6 again calls.

The NRL benchmark hasn't changed in 2020

I was simply suggesting….. players like Hughes could push unstable players over the edge…… with rotten behaviour like that.

Are these penalty goal antics from Jahrome Hughes against the spirit of the game?

Stuart has Taken the Roosters to three Grand Finals and Canberra to one. He has also taken Cronulla and Canberra to preliminary finals. A proven champ.

18-year career coach keeps suffering second-year syndrome
