Australian Ben Simmons and the Philadelphia 76ers will be looking to continue their strong start to the season, as they take on the Detroit Pistons. Join The Roar at 12 pm (AEDT) as we follow the game with live scores and a blog.
The 76ers have been off to a hot start, beginning the season 10-5 and currently sit atop the Eastern Conference standings with their new-look roster. The duo of Ben Simmons and Joel Embiid has been dominant, with Embiid especially having an MVP-worthy season (averaging 26.4 PPG, 11.3 RPG and 54.5 FG%). Simmons has continued to look good, averaging a near triple-double this season thus far (12.2 PPG, 9.2 RPG and 8 APG). The addition of head coach Doc Rivers and players such as Seth Curry, Dwight Howard and Danny Green have all helped the team thrive and develop into a squad that is taking the NBA by storm.
Meanwhile, the Pistons have been on the other end of the spectrum. They sit on a league-worst 3-12 record, with their performance not bringing much excitement to Motor City. Blake Griffin has had a career-worst season, while star draftee Killian Hayes is out with injury for at least another two months. However, one bright spot for the team is new signing Jerami Grant. Grant had a terrific season for the Nuggets last year, and has proven that he is worth his payday.
Grant is currently averaging career-best numbers, leading the team with 25.4 PPG and 6.1 RPG. Grant continues to shine and is an early candidate for the most-improved player award. If he plays at a high level during the game, there is a chance that the Pistons could get the upset over the best team in the East.
While the 76ers are far-out favourites to win this game, upsets have happened before and we could be in for a good game. Join The Roar at 12 pm (AEDT) as I provide live scores and a blog for this Eastern Conference clash.
