A reporter might not have realised they were doing so to Golden State Warriors star Klay Thompson after the announcement of the All-NBA teams.
Thompson, who has been crucial in the Warriors’ return to the NBA finals for the fifth year running, failed to get a spot on any of the three All-NBA teams as voted on by the basketball media.
Unfortunately for the soon to be out-of-contract Thompson, this means he isn’t eligible for a five-year supermax contract worth a casual $221 million USD ($320.3 million AUD) from the Warriors, and can at most be offered $191 million USD.
While that’s hardly anything to sneeze at either, the three-time NBA champion was clearly less than impressed.
Guards including James Harden, Steph Curry, Kyrie Irving, Damian Lillard, Russell Westbrook and Kemba Walker were selected ahead of Thompson.
