Zion Williamson's emotional interview after becoming the no. 1 pick at the 2019 NBA draft

Despite the decision for the number one pick being the worst kept secret in the NBA, college sensation Zion Williamson was still overwhelmed when the New Orleans Pelicans opted to take him first at the 2019 draft.

Speaking to ESPN, the 18-year-old gave an emotional interview as he thanked his mother, Sharonda, for everything she’s done for him.

Fighting back tears, Williamson was overcome with emotion saying he wouldn’t have got to this stage without his mother.

Williamson’s arrival in New Orleans will help soften the blow of losing six-time NBA All-Star Anthony Davis, who will join the LA Lakers.

Ja Morant and Williamson’s Duke college teammate RJ Barrett rounded out the top three of the draft, being selected by the Memphis Grizzlies and the New York Knicks at picks two and three respectively.
