When you think of the best up-and-coming forwards in the NRL at the moment, you would immediately think of Payne Haas, David Fifita or Cameron Murray.
But there are two players who are at the Broncos and can be as dangerous as the players I just mentioned: Thomas Flegler and Patrick Carrigan.
They are two very underrated up-and-coming forwards that teams need to look out for once they hit the market because these two players can really tear up the track.
Carrigan is only 22 years old, has played 21 games including two in 2020, and has already shown that he is devastating in his attack. His defence is top notch and he’s been co-captaining the Broncos side with new recruit Brodie Croft while Alex Glenn has been out injured.
In Carrigan’s two games for the Broncos this year, he has averaged 154 running metres, 34 tackles a game and has a total of three tackle breaks, 124 post-contact metres and 12 average hit-ups.
He played at lock for the opening two rounds of the 2020 season and played 60 minutes against the Cowboys in Round 1. That was a game they won 28-21. He played 75 minutes against South Sydney. They also won that game, 22-18.
Flegler is 20 years old and like teammate Carrigan has also proved that he can be a very dangerous asset for the Broncos and his stats very much prove my point.

Flegler has played in the opening two rounds of the NRL competition for the Broncos, playing prop for both games. He averaged a total of 53 minutes on the field.
His stats are incredible: 13 tackle breaks, 134 post-contact metres, an average of 13 hit-ups, three offloads, 43 tackles (plus he has only missed one tackle) and average running metres of 160.
If we compare Flegler’s stats to prop teammate Payne Haas, they’re very familiar considering the minutes Flegler plays compared to Haas.
Payne has played 80 minutes in both games this year, so if Flegler eventually can play 80 minutes, he can be as dangerous as Haas along with Carrigan.
When the competition returns on May 28 and the Broncos finally play their Round 3 game against the Titans, fans need to watch out for Flegler and Carrigan.
Because this pair will be up there for Origin or international duties in the next few years, or maybe even this year if they keep producing the stats they produced in the opening two rounds of 2020.
