Sibling rivalry may have sparked the sparkling NRL form of Josh and Brett Morris that Sydney Roosters teammate James Tedesco says is worthy of a NSW recall.
But Brett Morris insists his twin won’t be a factor when he mulls over his future in the coming weeks, conceding one may play on in 2021 if the other decides to retire.
The veterans have been sensational since Josh Morris made the move from Cronulla this season, reuniting the brothers for the first time since their Canterbury days ended in 2018.
“If I didn’t have a twin brother I probably wouldn’t be half the player I am; we’ve pushed each other our whole lives,” centre Josh Morris said on Sunday.
Winger Brett Morris added: “We always have that friendly rivalry.
“If I see him do something I want to do something better and vice versa.
“It definitely helps having him in the same team pushing each other to be our best.”
Now 33, the off-contract brothers have agreed to make a decision on their respective futures in the next six weeks.
But the siblings insist they are not a “package deal”.
“We are both individuals,” Brett Morris said.
“We have different motivations as to why we play rugby league and different bodies with the injuries that we have had throughout our careers.
“It is an individual decision. It is not a package deal.”

Josh Morris said he would be listening to his body rather than his brother when he decides his future.
“Mentally I feel pretty good but it’s more the physical toll it takes each week,” he said.
“I will probably make a decision in the next four to six weeks, see how the body is feeling.”
Tedesco marvelled at their longevity, saying the pair could still hold their own in the NSW side based on their form.
Josh (15 Origins, six Tests) and Brett (15 Origins, 18 Tests) have both retired from representative football.
“They are probably playing as well as they did at the start of their careers,” Tedesco said.
“I am sure if they got the (NSW) call-up they would have a crack and do a good job like they have every time they have played for NSW.”
But Brett Morris was quick to quash any Origin talk.
“I am well and truly retired from rep footy,” he said.
