The loaded gun at White Hart lane has turned into a shiny piece of artillery with no bullets or ammunition.

Tottenham Hotspur has felt the effects of their growing injury list after going down 2-1 to a struggling Chelsea side. Tottenham has not lived up to their 2019-20 season internationally or domestically. The loss of leading man Harry Kane has seen the likes of Lucas Moura step up to fill the shoes of the England striker. Jose Mourinho has touted the 9 May clash against Leicester as the return date for the power forward.

Kane’s absence has been felt in a big way, with the side missing clinical finishes and squandering opportunities with a lack of poise to find the net and be a constant presence up forward.

The injury curse at Spurs has continued, with Kane’s replacement Son Heung-min also on the mid-term injury list with a fractured arm. Son was set to star up forward in the Englishman’s absence but is expected back late May. Spurs will miss their South Korean star’s exceptional form in the Champions League, in which he scored five goals in six appearances. Tottenham felt the full effect of his absence after going down 1-0 in there clash at home against RB Leipzig.

The struggle with the strike force up forward has opened the door for Moura and Dele Ali to step up to fill those big shoes. Mourinho has played the likes of Steven Bergwijn in that prime striking position up forward, which paid dividends in their match against Manchester City. The likes of Ali have often been used as a substitution in the final stages of a match to find a goal or seal a game late.

The overall injury trouble will have to open up Mourinho’s mind in the transfer window to target a striker, especially with the depleted stocks in the Spurs sheds.

Rumours have been abundant that favourite child Gareth Bale is set to make his return to White Hart Lane from Real Madrid. The rumour comes after a suspected falling out with coach Zinedine Zidane. Bale has had an extension to his contract that will see him stay with Real Madrid until June 2022, but he could have a release clause in his contract, and the idea of him heading back to the Premier League is an exciting prospect for Spurs fans.
